Yes. Schill starting a game thread woo woo! And with Beckett on the mound, it's a sure win. However, Chacin has a 5-1 record. Yeah, record doesn't mean much. That 5.31 ERA is pretty ugly. Oh, his face is too. Go Sox!

Blue Jays look for sixth win in eight games vs. Red Sox

Boston (30-19) at Toronto (28-22) 7:07 pm EDT

TORONTO (Ticker) - The Toronto Blue Jays have been showing gradual improvement and are becoming a factor in the American League East Division.

Looking for its sixth victory in eight contests, Toronto can move seven games above .500 for the first time since September 28, 2003 on Tuesday, when they face the Boston Red Sox.

The Blue Jays lead the major leagues in batting average (.299), slugging percentage (.492) and hits (515), and have moved within 2 1/2 games of the Red Sox in the division race.

Shea Hillenbrand snapped a tie with an eighth-inning RBI single and Lyle Overbay and Vernon Wells homered Monday to lead Toronto to a 7-6 triumph over Boston.

Back from the disabled list after soreness in his left arm and elbow, Toronto's Gustavo Chacin (5-1, 5.31 ERA) makes his eighth start of the campaign. He allowed three runs and five hits in five innings to defeat the Red Sox on April 12.

Boston counters with Josh Beckett (7-1, 3.80), who tries to win five straight starts in a season for the first time in his career. He makes his fourth appearance against Toronto this year, including a victory April 11, when he yielded one run and three hits in seven frames.

Jason Varitek belted a three-run homer Monday for Boston to cap a comeback from a 6-0 deficit.

that is a little out of the blue, he seems like quite the underdog to get the start

It's no really out of the blue considering it was his turn to start in the rotation for Portland and Wells is not likely to go to DL. He may only miss a start.

WEEI reports that David Pauley will get the start tomorrow against the blue jays

Sweet! That game's not on ESPN though, is it?

I don't think the lineups have been announced yet. I'll check for ya though.

And also, Riverside: Where do you get those batter vs. pitcher matchups? They're pretty handy. Sorry if it's been asked a few times already.

wow good to hear, like others I also like David Pauley starting over Abe Alvarez or Matt Ginter. Looking forward to his major league debut tomorrow night

Yeah, wish I could watch it -- he was hanging out in my basement just a few years ago when he was in San Diego's farm system. I've got to find a place that has MLB Extra Innings or whatever around here.

yea sure thing. Here's a link to Beckett's matchup list

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6403/batvspit;_ylt=Auw8uOkAx1W_a6YKe5CHrRuFCLcF?year=career&type=Pitching

I frequent yahoo! sports for my info that i then relay onto here. Every position player/pitcher has a profile of their own. In the profiles you will see a link that says batter vs pitcher. Then you click since 1987, that should give you their history of facing opposing pitchers/batters

After playing in all of the 49 games this season, Loretta is sitting this one out. This is due to his foot being hit by a pitch in last nights game. Also today is Manny's 34th Bday

No Lorreta? WTF is tito thinking he has been smashing the hell out of the ball. That is a huge mistake

Edit: oops, did not fully read Riversides post, about his foot being hit last night

Beckett is a monster, we stand a chance tonight to even this series up. It's better than standing a chance, we really have a good chance of winning this game tonight. None of our starters have been as dominating as Beckett, and if the offense produces its a surefire win.

Go Sox!!!

I read through last night's thread and I couldn't help but notice all the Tito bashing. I understand he could have used Foulke, but Riske needed to be used at some crucial point to get some real work in. It sucked, but if you're going to blame anyone, blame Clement for getting us in that position. Our bullpen busted its ass last night giving us a chance to even tie the game. I'm very proud of those two young studs going out there and shutting down a very talented Toronto lineup. Besides, let's remember, Tito should never be bashed. Ever. I've had my moments with him as well, but the man brought us a world championship. He's doing some thing right.

I have officialy announced my retirement from making Matt Clement's game threads.

Hopefully Beckett can continue to deal tonight, He's been great especially in his last 4 starts

So much for me starting all the game threads.

Haha I know. I'm pumped for this game. Tonight would be a good game to take. Push the Jays back down to where they belong and let the Yankees lose tonight with Small on the mound. It looks like the Yanks will lose so we need to put the Jays down too and distance ourselves. Beckett's been really dominant. Gametime in 5 minutes guys and gals!
