if anything, this just lets Foulke know that he can't take any nights off

besides, look at it this way. better he has his off night while inheriting an 8 run lead in the 9th

Foulke has n't been getting regular work, and he needs to be sharp with his control in order to be effective.

He's done as our closer. And Timlin is the setup man. We'd be lucky if we could trade him to a team that needs help in their pen, but he's not throwing well enough and we'd probably have to eat 75% of his salary.

Foulke will not be the dominant closer we saw in '04, nor will he be the jobber we saw tonight. He's provided some very good outings thus far this year, and he's had a couple of bad ones. I'm glad he got one of the bad ones out of his system with an 8-run lead tonight. He'll be a good MRP for us, so I don't see the use in trading him. Especially since nobody will want him for MRP at his price tag, so like YAZMAN said, we'll have to throw money in the deal, and get back another MRP, who will likely cost us just as much to provide about the same relative value.

btw, Jack saves the day, then gets kidnapped by the chinese

You are a classless assclown!! Just goes to show that you can take the boy out of junior high, but you can't take junior high out of the boy!

He is still a very important member of the bullpen. A two-man bullpen is not enough. A two man pen would burn out by the All Star break. They need quality outings from Foulke, Tavarez and even Seanez to keep Timlin and Papelbon fresh.

I never thought it could get any better than seeing the Red Sox win the World Series ... then the Steelers won the Super Bowl.

Always happy to see a fellow Steeler fan on the boards.

Another lifelong diehard Steelers fan here. :D

another ass whoopin

4outta5 and we shouldve had all of them

that was their 2nd best pitcher

he finished with what?? 7earned....

their lineup now is weak, even with 7 of their 9 studs intact theyll tell you its the injuries

when you insist on signing 35-45 year olds to long term deals this happens and they just dont have the depth anymore to handle such crises

schill went thru them like they werent there except for the 3rd and all that came essentially with 2 out.

its may 21st

the only year since 98 we havent led the east on 6-1 was in 2004.

we'll have the lead again on june 1st but i think we can all agree this yankee team is realing and with such inconsistant pitching may find it impossible to run off 8-10 game streaks like they have in years past.

celebrate it for what it is

a good ass whoopin against the 2nd place team

He could serve asr 4th man and lefty specialist if he gets back to usual form, despite his horrid ST and1 bad outing, I look forhim to provide to helpin the pen.

new record for the amount of pages as well???

34 is damn long.

Great game. Now that I have had minimal sleep to reflect on it before work, I am happy. My dream was that pedro was pitching bp to me and I missed every single one and we laughed hysterically.

A few positives from the game:

An effective outing from Schilling with a relatively low pitch count, no walks, good control, and most importantly he was able to put the Yankees away, unlike his last start against them.

Many 0-2 hits for the Sox, as was pointed out earlier on in this thread.

Manny breaking out of his offensive slump with 3 RBI.
