In the first 9 innings, both teams were equally as bad, hence the 4-4 score. In innings 10-11, the Mets were bad and the Yankees weren't. They deserved to win, by virtue of scoring more runs.

 

It's an ugly game, but don't kid yourself. The Yankees deserved to win the game.
