Hopefully they play, but I doubt it.

The Red Sox hope the weather forecast (rain, rain, rain) changes on Saturday, otherwise it will be hard to get in the scheduled 7:05 p.m. ET contest against the Rangers.

All manager Terry Francona can do is plan on playing and have contingencies in place in the event there is no game.

"We always try to have a lot of different scenarios," Francona said. "But until we know ... We can't figure the weather out, nobody can."

If there is a game, left-hander Lenny DiNardo will make the start for the Sox, and he will be opposed by fellow southpaw John Koronka.

The Red Sox took two out of three against the Yankees but never got anything going in Friday's 6-0 loss to the Rangers, which was shortened by rain with no outs in the bottom of the sixth.

"You have to get up for every game or you're going to fail," said first baseman Kevin Youkilis. "You can't get up because it's the Yankees or the Rangers. You have to be up for everyone."

The Sox just hope they have some games to get up for this weekend.

Yeah, with a 100% chance of rain tonight, I am going to say that we won't play, as well. Doesn't really get better for Baltimore on Monday. Weather.com says a 90% chance of isolated thunderstorms.

Basically a matchup of rookies. Koronka has been a surprising fine addition to the Rangers starting staff after coming in a late spring training 3-team trade. DiNardo is coming off of a decent start against Baltimore despite walking 5 batters. The winner tonight will be mother nature. Just for kicks I'll post the matchups

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

John Koronka (1st career appearance vs. Boston)

Mike Lowell, 1 for 1 (1.000 avg) 2 Walks

Alex Gonzalez, 0 for 2, K

Lenny DiNardo (2 games vs. Texas, 1.69 ERA---Career at Fenway Park in 20 games, 1-1 record with a 2.95 ERA)

Rod Barajas, 0 for 2, K

Hank Blalock, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) RBI

Ian Kinsler, 0 for 1

Kevin Mench, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) Double

Phil Nevin, 0 for 1

Laynce Nix, 0 for 1, K

Mark Teixeira, 0 for 1

Brad Wilkerson, 1 for 1 (1.000 avg) HR, RBI

Michael Young, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) Double

Ok seriously. My baseball game got rained out, and I'm sitting here bored as hell. I don't have anything to do. High ho, high ho, it's off to boredom land we go... Sorry I'm so f***ing bored it's not even funny.

ANY IDEAS? AHHHHH ASDGJNASFHSA

You should have been more prepared. I got me 2 more (out of 3) movies to watch this weekend!!!! I saw this coming.

Here's a question, could the Sox play tomorrow's game at 8pm?

Actually, I take that back. I think there is some dumb rule about the ESPN Sunday Night broadcast and not having any other game started after 5pm on Sundays - or something like that...

The only issue with that would be that both teams have road games on Monday. They are not far distances (Boston is in Baltimore, Texas is in the Bronx). I don't think it would be too big of a problem though because teams routinely leave late in the night to travel when they have a night game the next day.

They could just say it was a "7 hour rain delay" or something like that. Either way it's still supposed to rain until Monday afternoon.
