Did we give up on the dude way too fast? Guys got a 24 game hit streak and leads the NL in batting average.

If we still had him our lineup would be ridiculous.

The same could be said for Arroyo too. Thing is, you never know what's gonna happen with players, you can never tell. Adrien Beltre(if i spelt that right) is a prime example. One year he was doing good, and the next he just dropped off the map. You can never really predict how good a player is going to be, especially edgar. Now i personally liked edgar, and didn't see to much wrong with him, but i didn't see this coming.

Not to throw in the negative, but isn't he on the same pace to match last years horrendous fielding ( ie errors ) ? So much for the "Fenway Infield". His hitting wasn't the problem when he was with the Sox.

Yes, I do agree you couldnt have predicted how well he could play, and other factors, I also do think trading him was the right decision. I just think he didnt receive much of a chance here.

Agreed, but I think there was more to it. Meaning I think Edgar wanted out.

I don't know how to put this without sounding like a dumbass, but I think the FO really wanted to win it this year. And figured that this was the year to win it, if they were going to for a while. Schilling is coming to the end of his career, there was a chance clemens would come to Boston, and the Yankees are dieing off. That's why you bring in 3 WSC in Beckett, Lowell, and Gonzaelz, and bring in 6 time gold glove winner J.T. Snow. Every year we want to win it, of course, but something in the FO said this was gonna be it or not in a while, and that's why you ship off Edgar, Mueller, Millar, etc. etc.

Well I mean look at the fact they are also talking about Willis coming up to Boston, did I hear that correct?? I don't remember. But I think they are looking for the knock out pitch, and swing for the fences.

Just so you all know, that rumor that Manny's wife put a call into the Red Sox to say Manny wanted a trade because he was cheating with Renteria's wife does have some truth to it. The Sox didn't have a choice to keep both, it was Manny or Edgar that had to go because that affair thing was really pissing the people involved off. When it came down to it, they had to trade Edgar instead, as trading away Manny wasn't reasonable. And after last year, trading Edgar was easier.

And as far as predicting performance, of course you can't. The difference between Edgar and Arroyo is that Edgar's always had a track record of success. Granted, Arroyo gave lots of "quality" starts, his career ERA was 4+. And besides, it's a matter of time before the new lineups he faces get used to him.

And about Willis, that's purely speculation.

In essence we got Coco Crisp for Renteria. The Sox knew fairly well that the Guardians coveted Andy Marte, hence the key cog to get Coco in the Red Sox uni. You have to take the good with the bad really.

Haha, but yeah. I actually did hear someone I know talking about it after you brought it up. Like the next day. That basically solidified my believing the story.

I was just speculating that the Fenway Infield might be the cause due to his defensive reputation from years prior. I guess the guy just forgot how to field

Not really because the Sox don't know what a guy is going to do and it's still early Renteria could turn out to do nothing for Atlanta then again none really is for that team there like what a game ahead of Florida if they are lucky. Honestly Renteria was good for us but apparently not good enough and I think he couldn't take being in the spotlight just like alot of players can't handle it. I think this guy needs to be into a small market team before he will put up any really good numbers.

he is still on pace to make 20 + errors even tough he only has 4 at this point in the season
