Should have been Kobe 1 and Lebron 2. Kobe single handedly lead the lakers to the playoffs and almost beat Nash and the Suns. Kobe therefore is the Most Valuable Player.

Yeah, I think that Suns roster looks a hell of a lot more attractive without Nash than the Lakers does without Kobe or the Cavaliers without Lebron.

Living in Arizona I for one think Nash deserved it. If you looked at the Suns roster before the season began, they had lost three starters from last year's team. Amare was lost to injury, Joe Johnson was traded as was Quentin Richardson. Also, Kurt Thomas was lost in February and has not returned yet.

Nash was playing with a team that was returning only four guys from the previous year. Boris Diaw was someone no one heard of before this year because he mostly sat on the Hawks bench. Nash is a pass first, shoot second player but this year he had to shoot more. The results were he scored more points this year than any other, plus he averaged 10 assists a game. If Steve did not play for the Suns this year they would not of even come close to winning as many games.

Steve gets everyone involved. Marion and Amare both have said their games has improved since Steve joined the team. Before Steve the Suns had Marbury and they were pathetic compared to now. Players did not like how Marbury was a player who shot first and did not play the team game.

It is not surprising to see the development Diaw has made in his first year here. Steve has been an integral part of that. I know the system plays a part in the Suns success but the players have to execute. If Kobe played for the Suns and Nash did not, I believe the Suns would not have won as many games.

I might be partial in that I have seen over 50 Suns games this year, but he was my pick. I think LeBron deserved it more than Kobe.

i agree , Nash even had a better season than last year, if nash would take as many shots as Kobe does, he would be over 30 PPG easily with his precise shooting ability

But the Suns without Nash are still a playoff team, or atleast a team than can contend for a spot. The Lakers without Kobe are absolutely dreadful and are competing for the worst record in the league.

Besides, Nash doesn't get anything that resembles the defensive looks that Kobe sees -- what Kobe has done is made all the better by the fact that he has no consistent second scoring option on his team to keep defenses honest. Kobe's doubled when he doesn't even have the ball.

true but the same could be said about the cavaliers without james they dont make the playoffs and would be competing for the worst record, if nash wouldnt have won it , i think james would have taken it ,and also the suns without Nash dont make the playoffs either. either way you look at it ,they all deserve to win it , just so happened they chose Nash

But the Cavaliers have more talent around Lebron than the Lakers do around Kobe. A LOT more talent.

alot more talent ,where? what good is talent if they cant put the numbers up? ,the lakers without kobe are 64PPG and the cavaliers without James are 66 PPG aint much difference there, plus james had on avg 2 more APG and 2 more RPG than kobe , james is a much more better passer and rebounder than kobe and can score just as much, before i knew who won i had picked nash first ,james a close second and kobe 3rd

The argument about Kobe having trash around him is pretty much junk. Odom is a fantastic player and it showed in this series against the Suns. Kobe just never lets him showcase his abilities. The Suns without Nash are dreadful, not saying they are terrible individuals, it's just with our offense, we need a point or we look disoriented. But so is every other team (with the exception of the Pistons with Billups, and Dallas with Dirk) without their MVP candidate. Kobe was not deserving, he doesn't get his teammates involved, and his team (record wise) wasn't spectacular.

Please give me a break. I don't even watch the NBA and this award is obvious. The Suns lost one of their main contributers, and they were still what ... the 3rd best team in the West? Steve Nash took a franchise that sucked and made it great immediatly, and then repeated that performance missing a big piece.

Kobe carried a tem on his back. I will say the series against the Suns, we did see what these other players are made of. But to Say Brown is just as good as Gooden or Ilgauskas,

is a joke. And this year the Lakers, in my mind and many others, weren't even a playoff contender. But they made it, and because of Kobe Bryant. And I will say if the rest of the team didn't play like they did against the Suns, then they wouldn't have made it to a game 7. But the MVP is for regular season play, and Kobe by far was the best Season player.

Yeah he did a whole lot of carrying the other night in the 2nd half. Kobe is a punk, and he's not the MVP.

I think LeBron shouldv'e gotten it, without him, the Cavs were horrible, and he single-handedly carried them through the 1st round. Kobe as stated earlier is not surrounded by crap, just he hogs the ball.

and nash didnt carry his team in the regular season? the playoffs just proved it that nash is better and kobe cant carry a team when it counts.

speaking of Nash ,the MVP showed tonight why he was chosen , dropping 31 points with 12 assists as they win game 1, 130-123

Agreed. But this series is far from over, as the Clippers are a very good team and will give us a tough series.

true but i think the suns will come out on top, im hoping to see the suns VS the mavs in the western finals, that would be a fun series with some high scoring ,and especially since i hate the  spurs

I share the same sentiment as you do about the Spurs, but it's not a dream matchup to play the Mavs.

In the meantime, we have to concern ourselves with the Los Angeles Clippers because that's who we have to beat three more times before we can even THINK about the Western Conference Finals. So on to Game 2 Wednesday night...and I'll be cheering for the Mavs tomorrow night.

Kobe didn't even try to carry his team that last game. He only took 3 shots in the second half. He figured they had a good chance of winning if he passed the ball and his teammates would score, but it just showed, that the other Lakers are not capable of scoring to superb.

Nash = Complete defensive liability. He looks absolutely clueless on defense.

Kobe = Former, multiple time NBA First team all-Defensive player

Take Steve Nash off of the Suns and they're a hell of a lot closer to where they are than the Lakers are sans Kobe.

Same thing could be said about the Cavaliers. I just thought King James should get it because of what he's been able to do with that franchise. 3 years, and they go from NOTHING to obtaining a first round playoff series win. I know you can't look at the past, but this year is a result of what he, single-handedly, has been able to do over there. The kid's amazing, and obviously puts up amazing numbers, for only 21 years old. The Suns roster is still sexy if Nash doesn't play, and they would most likely still make the playoffs. The Cavs are absolutely nothing without LeBron. Same could be said for the Lakers, but Kobe's being Kobe. LeBron's just an absolute animal.

EDIT: This isn't to say that I don't think Nash deserved it. Of course he did, he's a gamer in every sense of the word. He's unbelievable. But the fact that he won by a "landslide" sickens me. There is no way he was THAT much more dominant than Kobe and LeBron.

are you serious? how can you not try to win a game 7 , if anything the reason he only took 3 shots in the second half its cause he was choking

Funny how Kobe reacted when the Suns fan were chanting "Kobe sucks!" And wouldn't you know, they were all right in the 2nd half.

BTW, though I may not like Kobe, he was my MVP pick, but I'm not saying Nash should not have won it. He also deserved it. It's just sickening Kobe didn't finish second. Does the media hate him, too?

Kobe choke? That is a joke right there. Are we talking about the same Kobe who came back, after that lil incident, and threw up 50 points? And hit some buzzard beater shots?? No, I don't think we are talking about the same Kobe Bryant.

and what else did he do that series ??? other than what you mentioned he did s***!

You guys think Kobe in game 7 was a disappearing act? Try watching Steve Nash on defense ALL YEAR. He may have actually gotten worse at it from last year.

In other NBA Award news, somebody deserves to lose their Rookie of the year vote in the future after giving Deron Williams a first place vote over Chris Paul. Chris Paul did, however, get 124 out of 125 first place votes.
