Beckett > Randy (beckett has a good history at Yankee Stadium :D )

Schilling

Wakefield > Chacon (expect this one to be a high-scoring close game, something like 8-6)

like most NY/BOS games, they should all be pretty good games to watch

And like most NY/BOS games, due to local blackout restrictions, I am once again forced to watch the YES Network and listen to their generalities. It should be fun listening to Michael Kay ramble on without any dead air passing.

To this point, Beckett and Randy have been equally disappointing and Muss and Schill have been equally surprising. I see the series being decided in game 3....

After losing MOnday in Beantown, riding a 5 game winning streak is exactly how I want to go into a Red Sox series in the Bronx. The fact that we're hot and at home givs us an edge, I think. Definately looking forward to it. I'll have tomorrow to build up anticipation and then the war begins Tuesday Night. Definately looking for some 2003 revenge against Josh Beckett. Maybe rather than grounding out to him, Jorgie can take him deep or something. :D

what I will miss about tomorrow nights game is the fact that Sheff wont be able to play most likely. Schilling is deceptive enough to be able to get the good fastball hitters out, but I think Sheff would burn Beckett rather good. Too bad he'll be heading for the list before he is heading for the lineup. Our starters are 10-1 in their last 11 decisions and if it becomes a battle of the bullpens again, I have faith, well in everyone not names Tanyon....

not for nothin' but the mere existence of this thread in a Sox forum further drives home the fascination Yankees fans have with the Red Sox and their NATION.

I think it's really more a compliment on the Sox and their fans than an indictment of Yankee fans and their boards...although how would I know, since I, like most Sox fans, don't venture to the Yankee forums.

Anyway, the good and benevolent Sox fans must be doing their job of educating those on the dark side, as they continue to hang around here. Good job guys and gals.

If you have ever been to a yankee board, you will see why we come here. I have actually found a good one currently and post there, but I have been banned by many. If you arent a full fledged ball washing h-mo, you'll get banned, and hence I was banned. Also, coming to a sox board is a good place to go. You should try going to the yankee boards and giving it a try. It provides good balance. On one hand, you see the positives on your board and then you see the negatives on the other. Add in a little statistical analysis and a definite slant and you have baseball discussion. We arent here because we love the redsox, we are here because there is some good conversation and this board is rather lively. I like it....

Plus, one-sided arguments get old fast. It's nice to have some people with different opinions who aren't drinking the yankee kool-aid all the time...

I'd have to say that right now Chacon = Wakefield, if not a little better. Hes 3-0 in his last 3 starts with this line: 19.2IP 3ER 13H 12K 9BB 1.38ERA

It seems like Chacon has worked out his early season problems and is back on track. He still walks a few too many guys but he really is coming on strong. To be fair I haven't paid close attention to how Wakefield has played lately, but with a knuckleballer you never know anyway;) .

also, beckett95 was quick to point out Beckett's history in yankee stadium without pointing our RJ's recent history vs the sox. 5-0 last yr? He'll bring it tomorrow. Should be a good one...

When Pavano or Dotel come back, Sturtze better be DFA-ed. If someone like Scott Proctor is sent down instead, I will be upset.

HOORAY for YES during the next three games. :rolleyes:

Yes!!! Doesnt get any better than YES! If you guys actually put your bias aside and actually watch YES and pay attention during the pre/post game show and the actual game telecast you will otice the high level of analysis. Al Leiter does a great job. Bob Lorenz is god compared to Tom Caron, Jim Kaat should be a Ford Frick Award Winner. Ken Singleton is always fun to listen to. If Paul O'Neill is in the booth (doubtful) then he's always great to listen to. Same with Bobby Murcer, who I think, with the Oklahoma accent and all is a ball to listen to. Only guy I wouldnt make a press kit for and promote endlessly is David Justice. I like him and think he's good, but he still has some work to do to become a good broadcaster. But still enjoy listening to him. And i', not even gonna say anything about Michael Kay, everybody here is aware of my admiration towards the man :lol: Thank god for the YES Network. Ifwe could only get Scooter to come back to the booth for 2 or 3 games a year we would be the all-time greatest RSN without question (although YES has already been praised as the best RSN in the Nation) :D

OK, enough of my YES love affair. Back to baseball, guys.

Torre wont be very happy, because we all know Torre loves Sturtze. However, I dont see Cashman making any other move when Pavano comes back in about 2 weeks. {roctor CANNOT be sent down. But if Sturtze gets DFAd for Pavano, I wonder who gets the boot for Dotel. Will be interesting to see.

Oh Yeah! If we win, especially against Beckett, it will surely be SWEET. Been waiting 2+ years to get BEckett back on that Yankee Stadium mound. Schmuck!

oo bad he'll be heading for the list before he is heading for the lineup.

Not that I want to see Sheffield on the DL, but it would be great to see my guy Melky Cabrera (who I have been behind 110% since BEFORE his callup last year), or less likely Kevin Thompson who I fell in love with in Spring Training despite the fact I hated him last year (lol when there was talk of promoting him to be the center fielder rather than Melky :lol: )

Not to mention, there's John Flaherty; he's been great so far and is supposed to be in the studio for the next series.

I think Torre is starting to see the light, he seemed pretty upset yesterday.

Yes, Flaherty has been terrific!

And as for Sturtze, i've really liked having him here. But he cant stay on the roster when Pavano/Dotel come back. I hope he does clear waivers though, I really want to keep him in the organization. Maybe he can go down to Columbus and get his stuff in order than come back later on in the year.

Yes, because beating Beckett in the regular season will make the pain of 2003 go away for SURE, right? Beckett can still laugh at you even if you kill him in the regular season.

I wont give any prognostications for this one. 3 straight GREAT pitching matchups and evenly matched throughout. Beckett and RJ- two guys who were aces who have disappointed so far. Mussina and Schilling- two guys who are bouncing back rather nicely from career worst yrs. Chacon and Wakefield, 2 guys who have been quietly solid as #3's thus far. Great matchups and with Coco gone on your side and sheff gone on our side, we are even. Should be a hard fought series. All I can hope for is that the series is decided by the pens, as I think that is our only clear advantage of late....

Well, you must admit, Wily Mo has been doing a damn good job filling in. Besides, I don't think 2 bad games suggests that Beckett has disappointed. He had a 2.54 ERA through 4 starts, then his ERA exploded from 2 bad games. I don't call it disappointment, he kept his ERA down aganist great lineups from Toronto twice, Texas, and a less-than-great Seattle team. I'm not saynig this is a great sample size, but I'm saying that 4 of his 6 starts were great. He had 2 bad starts, he hasn't disappointed.

He and RJ are in the same boat is all I am saying....

Advantedge? Maybe. Clear Advantedge? Doubtful.

Papelbon = 0.50 ERA

Rivera = 2.77 ERA

Timlin= 1.38 ERA

Farnsworth = 3.75 ERA

look deeper than that my friend..

Proctor 1.33ERA > Foulke 3.98

Myers 1.08ERA> Tavarez 4.97

Villone 1.80ERA> Seanez 8.74

Myers 1.08ERA> Tavarez 4.97

Villone 1.80ERA> Seanez 8.74

Myers is a specialist, and has only thrown 8.1 IP. He really can't be used to compare him against another reliever. Their roles are far too different.

If you really believe that Scott Proctor is better than Keith Foulke, you need a CAT scan. Villione, well we've been over Villone.

Besides, if it gets to the point where the Yankees will use Villone, or Small then the game will have already gone way out of hand.

You keep throwing out these players who have absolutely no track record of success, not in the minors, not in the majors either.
