Loretta has been struggling and thought if you think the Sox should look at trading for a second baseman? The Diamondbacks might be willing to trade Hudson or Counsell due to the fact that Stephen Drew has been tearing it up in triple A and could be called up soon.

I say no. I won't judge Mark Loretta on one month performance. He did win us a game not long ago and I think when he starts to see these pitchers in the AL more he will come around.

I think our real problem is hitting with guys on base. We hit a lot of solo HRs, and rarely make good contact with a 3-1 count. I don't think I have seen anyone come through with 2-outs either. We have been able to get on base but thats only the first step...once this team starts getting used to each other I would expect it to come around.

id say its too early he is just in a slump, he had a good spring training and the first few weeks in the start of the season, id give him another month . also he is not the only one not producing at this point

Loretta is 3rd in the AL in LD%. He's hitting the ball well, it's just not finding a hole. Give it some time.

I think lorrea will come around teams go through the slumps over the course of 162 it was only two weeks ago that some of us thought the red sox were never going to lose.maybe some rivalry play like the yanks to crank your winning engine.

If nothing has improved by the all-star break, there will be a 2nd baseman that is more than likely to be on the trade market. That is the Angels' Adam Kennedy.

I love Adam Kennedy. It would suck if he went to the Sox.

Kennedy is an excellent hitter. I can't figure out why Scioscia always bats him 9th. In the past 2 years the Angels order after Vlad and Andersen has been quite weak and he has kept one of their better hitters in the #9 hole. I have found this to be ridiculous.

maybe because it gives them 2 leadoff hitters.. batting order doesn't matter than much anyways.

A #1/#2 hitter will get at least 100 more PA than a #9 hitter during the course of a season, so I'd say it matters more than a little.

People want to get rid of Loretta, a career .300 hitter, and bring in Adam Kennedy, a guy who's hit .300 twice in his career ... that makes sense.

Loretta is doing fine, and he'll get better.

If you ever had Hudson i would cry.. and would begin to despise you

Its one thing for him to make incredible plays for your side, but...

His offense is only average though.

I dont think Boston will be in the market for a 2nd baseman. Loretta is 14 for his last 28 in his last 7 games. He is coming around and i think it just took him a few week to get adjusted to the pressure of playing in Boston. Remember, Loretta has never played for a team of his calibur. With that said, hes a career over .300 hitter... a ultimite pro. Mark will be fine.

If anything, Boston will be looking to get a SP. Especially if David Wells cant go.

that is correct, i'll restate my thoughts, batting order from 1-6 don't matter that much.

Rumor out here in AZ is that the Diamondbacks will be shopping Craig Counsell and the Red Sox have been mentioned. Counsell is a solid fielding shortstop who gets on base. The guy always hustles, never gives up on a play, no matter what the score is.

It should have never been started. You dont trade a guy like Mark Loretta(nor do you give up on him after a slow couple weeks). Hes more then a great ball players, he is also one of the leaders since hes been there and is always motivating players. Team Captian Jason Vartiek said this 4 or 5 days ago.

To everyone who was certain his career was over and he had lost his pop, he is now hitting .288. I love it.
