What about Wells? I didn't hear many cheers on Opening Night of last year, and he was certainly a significant part throughout the dynasty era.

Wells got his welcome back when he came back as a Padre. We gave him a standing O for like 3 minutes...

...this gets nothing from you guys?

Not anymore, he swore his allegiance with Boston last season, and then became a renegade this year.

Not for the Red Sox though huh?? If Johnny Damon came back to Fenway in a Padre uniform we would cheer him...but he isn't.

He's walking back into Fenway as a homo, part of a steroid infested team, nobody will cheer for him cause he's a bitch. He went from being loved by the greatest city in the US to a team where his face is one of the many. He means so little to the Yanks compared to what he was with the Red Sox and he did it for 12 million extra??

The hell with Johnny Damon, the hell with George Steinbrenner, and the hell with your team! Is this suprising to the Yankee fans making a claim we should cheer? I hate the Yankees..I hate everything you stand for and I hate the fans who think they know whats best. No I deffinitly "boo" Damon and I "boo" all the Yankee fans on this site telling us we should thank a traitor...I'll leave that to you guys.

the name on the front is more important than the name on the back. I'll accept 20 traitors onto my baseball team if it meant we'd win...

Thats why you are a Yankee fan. Does not suprise me. Anything to win...spend the money, get the traitors, take the steroids. We should really just give the World Series to the Yanks because I'm sure they would accept it without playing a game.

there's also David Cone, a former Yankee starting pitcher who was with NY for all World Series champs in the 90s... After 2000, he signed with the Red Sox... I still remember Yankee fans ripping him, let alone he was one of their best starters through that dynasty run.

Coney blew in 2000 and needed a job. You guys gave it to him. I wasnt too mad at him, although it hurt to see him in red socks that year. Thank god it was a 1 (year) and done thing. Boom on the other hand is still around up there. It sucks.

I love Wells, and signing in Boston did piss me off. But I never booed him (I did get pretty frustrated during his press conference though, throwing stuff and whatnot), and felt it was wrong when others did, although I understood why they did. Also, not to take away from the fact that Boomer is a big part of recent Yankees history and definately a fan favorite when he was here, I wouldnt exactly call him significant. He was here for one championship. And we would have won in '98 without him. Definately wouldnt call him significant.

I'm confused. So the Red Sox are not in this to win a World Series? Then what the hell are the other 29 teams motives for playing baseball? And before you go clicking that reply icon I'm a diehard Red Sox fan, and I love my team, however should Florida and Cleveland fans call us cheaters for getting Mike Lowell, Josh Beckett, Coco Crisp, and Josh Bard?

seriously, that is the dumbest post of the week. Winning is the ONLY thing, period. If you are still in little league, then I am sorry to ruin your "everyody is a winner" fun. You know what, I'll give you back all the red sox grown talent and see how happy you are without any of the mercs you guys received. Would you be happy with a 60-102 team? That post you made was stupid and I expected you to bring more to the table with that one...

I hate to say it, but I agree with your post. Some fans just give me a bad name.

Yeah, what a day that was. He pitched really good too, but thankfully for us Trever Hoffman pulled a '98 and blew it for him. :D

Kenny Lofton and Hideki Matsui, baby. Back to back with 2 out in the 9th. :D

Like we said, Wells got his welcome back in 2004 with San Diego. Had he returned to Yankee Stadium for the first time in a Boston uniform, he probably would have gotten cheered, but because he had already returned and got cheered twice ('99 with Toronto, '04 with San Diego) we booed him. David Cone came back his first time in a Boston uniform and got cheered.

Damn right baby. Just hand it over on April 1st, we can cancel the season, have our ticker tape parade in nice weather, and the players can go relax on the beach while the fans glow from their World Championship. Sounds good to me. :D

Coney got cheered heartily and I believe he got choked up when talking about it after the game....

The best Coney moment post-Yankee playing career would have to be him sitting in the Section 39 bleachers on opening day in 2002. That was great. And then he signed on with YES to do a few games that year. I wish he would have stayed, I liked him on the air.

Do you think Petey will choke up after his standing O when he returns to Boston this June? :D

I think a few of the Sox hitters might cry that day.

Posted
But he didn't, so shut the f*** up.

Ok, obviously the part of your brain that can think hypothetically is missing so I'll use an acutual example. David Cone was a large part of the yankees sucess and when introduced at the stadium as a member of the red sox, he was cheered. Why should it be any different for damon?

Posted
I think he'll get mostly boo'd, maybe a few cheers.

But Petey was our messiah. I still enjoy him pointing to the sky on the highlight reel everytime he pitches well for the Mets. I still wish we had him on our staff.

Oh shut the f*** up douche bag. I was stating the Yankee fans would be happy with not playing a single game and just getting the World Series handed to them. You don't care what it takes just give me the damn thing. We are the NY Yankees...worship us and give us the rings. Well go to hell you bitch I'm sick of listening to you and your Yankee regime on this site telling us we should cheer a player when he switched from the Red Sox to the Yanks. I hate your team and I hate you. I will never cheer for any player that wears a Yankee jersey.

solid post, um not. About as good as your last one. I see how easy it is to push you over the edge, let me bank that one for later....

People will still probably boo him just for not re-signing.

Speaking of bad posts you came back with nothing. Everything you say on this site should be removed considering you have been on here constantly writing ******** about your team. Everything you say is an attempt to bring down the Red Sox and state your claim as an evil empire bitch. I know your a Yankee fan, I know you hate the Red Sox, I know you will go against everything we say just to get a rise out of the members on this site. I also know this is what gets you excited and all you hope to accomplish is to get us pissed off. Personally I think you provide nothing to this site and you're annoying. Think it over and maybe you should consider moving on to a Yankee site where what you say can count for something. Or maybe you should consider writing meaningful posts and not attempt to pick fights with everyone like a select few of the Yankee members on here.

Pedro is unique because he did essentially do what Johnny did (aside from the yankee part), however unlike johnny Pedro, what he did for us outweighs what he did by signing somewhere else. For seven years he anchored this pitching staff and did amazing things for us, sure johnny helped, and no bigger than in game seven of the ALCS but you can't take away what pedro did. hes forever idolized in Boston

No offence, but a meaningless reply doesn't deserve a good reply in return. Rivernator didn't need to say anything more to what he already said previously, and so you know you're starting to annoy me a bit. You're giving me a bad rap.
