Pitching and D does win championships though. The White Sox starting pitching was tremendous in last years postseason with those consecutive complete games.

I know, but you have to offesne too, theres no doubt you have to have a complete team

The White sox also had a strong offensive strategy with the ability to hit the long ball and manufacture runs...

It's very hard to build a complete team, unless you do it through your farm system.

That was a pretty sweet play by clement. As weird as it sounds i haven't given up on the guy yet--i still think he can pull it together! It's just tough when both your pitching, your D and your O fails you at the same time!

they didnt do it through their farm system. The only guys they had that were farm guys were Crede and Rowand on offense and Buerhle in the rotation...

I wasn't speaking of the White Sox. I was just bringing up the fact about how hard it is to build a complete team. Most teams have a deficiency in at least one facet of the game.

Yeah, and I think the opposite is true. It's close to impossible to build a complete team through the farm system because there are always areas where the farm is weak. Build what you can with the farm and then supplement with trades and FA signings.

no team is ever grown through their own system totally. The best teams are those that have a young core coming up and solid veterans around them. The yankees were the best example with Mo, Jeter, Posada, and Pettitte coming up and they were surrounded with great vets.....

I never said an entire team could be home grown. You obviously need to go out and get some players through trades and FA, but building a good farm system like the Yankees use to do is the way to go about it.

Let's go Trot. This guy brings what you like, nothing but cheese. Put one in the bleachers.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm used to Trot hitting 5th. Let's go Cap'n.....get that bases loaded monkey off your back.

11 men left on base, close to a shutout at Tropicana Field, first one ever for Sox I believe

looking like a 3 game losing streak, being outscored 27-4

Tomorrow- DiNardo vs Waechter (could go either way)

Sunday- Schilling vs Kazmir (Schilling needs to be at his best for this one)

The Tampa announcers keep saying Boston's offense is a "quick strike" offense. Do they not see how many men Boston has left on base tonight?

Why are you watching the TB feed? --- with Extra Innings i can see it on NESN tonight! The TB feed is always terrible!

God, can you imagine how many runners left on base we are going to see in that Yankees series? Barring a blowout, the games are all going to be 4 hours long!

Thank god it's only gonna be 2 days.

The funny thing is that Fossum didn't pitch that well, he just seemed to get out of every jam he got himself into. What's the record for men left on base in a 9 inning game anyway?

I have MLB.TV, not Extra innings. The TB feed isn't too bad compared to a few others that I've watched, they're just a bit arrogant.
