Age means a hell of alot when you have logged the amount of innings Timlin has the past few years. Timlin right now is not throwing consistent strikes. Even though his era is 2.16 opponents are still hitting over .300 against him. And his 2 wins were pretty cheap wins after he had blown the lead. He has not looked great like everyone thinks he does and with him being the age he is I think it should be somewhat of a concern and Francona fails to see that.

 

He's throwing 94 mph.

 

If you want to bring up age, throw in the fact, that it usually takes longer for older pitchers to get ready in the season. He should be OK. Even if he has a regression, it won't be as serious as you say it will be.

You're an idiot. Age doesnt mean s***, so stop using that as a f***ing excuse. Fact of the matter is, is that Timlin, skill wise, is the 2nd best reliever on this team, and will continue to see appearance until he implodes, which is unlikely. Im not sure what the f*** your all crying foul about with Timlin. His ERA is f***ing 2.16... Hes given up 2 runs in his 8 1/3 innings.

 

 

 

ERA is not a good stat to use when judging relievers. Just thought you should know that.

Yes, I've got a Baseball Abstracts book coming out fairly soon. No, in all seriousness, I was just reminding everyone of that because people like to throw around ERAs a lot with relievers. However, why would you want to judge a reliever based on what he would do in a 9 inning game? Relievers don't pitch 9 innings in an outing. For most, it takes 9 outings.

WBC does not count for a person's stats. I don't think playoffs HR's count towards a person's "career" stats. Like Bonds has 706 or whatever he has home runs but those don't include playoff HR's.
