Yeah, Ichiro is a terrible offensive player.

You're joking, right?

It's April 16th folks. A rough first two weeks doesnt mean much in the long run. Ichiro is a solid player, and IMO the best offensive weapon in the game, and possibly the best all around player in the game.

The Mariners have two of the elite hitters in the league-- Ichiro and Sexson. There new catcher is really good too. Their order is far superior to the Twinkies.

I dont think you can be "elite" when you strike out around 150+ times a year.

When you're a .263/.366/.541/.910 hitter. You're elite. Throwing up 39 HR's to go along with 90 walks is a pretty good addition.

all 3 have the track record of having injuries...

It's a shame Wang was hurt so much during his minor league career, Could have made it upp sooner and could possibly be a top pitcher by now.

Shoulder, right?

Yes, I was joking. I called him an elite offensive player in a prior post.

Look at his productivity. Sexson is an elite offensive player. He just hasn't been noticed playing in Seattle, Milwaukee and Arizona. BTW Alex the Great struck out 139 times last year and 131 the year before. You are so owned.

I don't know if Wang has the skill set to ever be 'dominant' but I like his stuff. He'll get a good deal of ground ball outs, but he isn't going to blow away the competition. He will probably be very dependable, dominant might be the wrong d-word.

I dunno, we shall see. He has dominant stuff. His slider today was nasty and if he ever does develop a penchant for K's, it will have to be his K pitch. His sinker is something else too, but his 3rd pitch, change, is a minus pitch. I think he does not have the dominant mentality, ie, he is okay with throwing less pitches and allowing contact. When he gets going, he will average less than 10 pitches an inning...

Sox still have a better rotation, but the yankees have such a better lineup that it makes up for it.

good pitching beats good hitting

btw, why do you still have Pedro ina Yankee uniform as your avatar?

Please tell me your not comparing Alex Rodriguez to Richie Sexson. This could be quite possibly the dumbiest post of all time. A-rod has 81 OPS points on Sexson career wise. NUFF SAID........A-Rod, Pujols, Manny, Vlad, Bonds all elite. Sexson is on the next level below. Alot of people have a tendency to lump the very good in with the truly great. The people I mentioned above all one day will end up in the HOF thus the elite status. Does Richie Sexson still belong in that group? You didnt own anybody....what you did was put your foot in your mouth.

Umm... I don't think we were talking about that. We were talking about performance.

Yeah, but injury history factors into performance. Look at last year. I could have gone out and done a better job than Schilling...and i'm not even a pitcher.

Because pedro is the man, and he looks good in pinstripes.

I think he's somehwhat comparable to Andy Petitte. Doesnt throw hard, but knows how to pitch and use his weapons. And both came up through the Yankee system :D

You are aware that the right half of your Pedro's uniform is completely f***ed up, right? I'm sure you could have found a better doctored pic of Pedro in pinstripes.

Yeah, but I like it that way. Gives it character.

Pedro came up with the yankees? I always thought he came up with the dodgers.

Don't twist your arm patting yourself on the back while the point goes completely over your head. Your knock on Sexson not being elite was his high K total. ARod is elite and strikes out a lot too, as most sluggers do, thus your knock on Sexson is invalidated. He does not compare ARod to Sexson, he shows the hole in your logic.

I think he means Wang, but quoted the wrong post. It takes light emitted from the Andy Pettitte Galaxy at least 5 or 6 light years to reach the Pedro Martinez Galaxy.
