I really don't understand Terry at times. He takes out 2 hot hitting hitters ( who also play great defense ) when he has 2 other starters out due to injuries. It almost seems like he was giving up on this game.

The red sox offense was as flat as the yankees' yesterday. I don't understand why this happens. For one reason or another good lineups just fall on their face in some games.

Huh? The only regulars in the lineup were Youk, Ortiz, Manny, & Gonzalez. This lineup was the worst we've seen this season.

Top to bottom a lineup of: Stern, Cora, Ortiz, (slumping) Manny, Youk, Snow, Bard, Gonzalez

 

That's a lineup that gets pitchers smiling big & wide. My main point is that Loretta & Lowell were rested on same day as Varitek, weakening their offense. That rang true today.

Francona can't give two other regulars the day off when Wake pitches. With Varitek out of the lineup, he has to play Loretta and Lowell. If they needed the day off, he could wait until Nixon comes back this week and rest them on a day that Wakefield is not pitching.

 

BTW Is Crisk scheduled to come off the DL a week from Monday?

He is scheduled to come off after 15 days but with his injury it could alittle longer.

Good, because regardless if we're facing a LHP or RHP, I'll put Mohr in there instead of Stern 9 times out of 10.

Wow, this is just amazing. I have been reading through all the posts (had to tivo the game) and everyone is ready to kill stern after today. WHY? A week ago here everyone was saying how great stern was and that they want him up here full time! The problem with stern was that he was hot at the plate and then we faced so many lefty's in a row that tito sat him down during a hot streak for several games. Now he comes back in and isn't in a groove at all, and is swinging at terrible pitches!

 

I know that our pitchers are more comfortable with our improved defense behind them---but it's also got to weigh on them that our offense is capable of a performance like today's! Wake pitched a good game, and we couldn't get anything going--just terrible!
