Manny doesn't look good. I know he can turn it around and he started slow last year but he just looks uncomfortable at the plate. Taking good pitches and swinging wildly at bad ones!

It may have already been said, but I wonder if Manny isn't happy here. There was a lot of talk during the off season of Manny wanting out. What if he isn't producing because he just isn't happy. I know when I'm not happy I don't do my best. Hopefully this isn't the case and he will produce like a pro should.

Manny hasn't been happy since he's been in Boston. That has never affected his batting.

But if he REALLY wants out THAT badly, he would only be smart and produce better than he ever has, so that another team would want him. But I'm not concerned, someone said it a page or two ago; we had a thread like this last year and he turned out fine.

In the second Toronto game, I noticed Manny not swing at a pitch that was obviously a ball (high), yet Manny looked back at the ump as if to say, "Well??? Ball??? Strike???"

 

Of course it was called a ball, but my point is that it is very unlike Manny to have to ask about a pitch that was so far out of the strike zone. How many times have we seen him half way to first base before the ump calls ball 4, on a pitch that is just a tiny bit out of the strike zone?

Hopefully today is a sign of things to come. I didn't get to watch the game but I heard he hit a couple of shots to left center.

They were hard hit balls off of the monster, thus keeping him to long singles. One of those just missed getting into the monster seats. He looked much more comfortable today in the box and his timing was there. He got behind a changeup from Meche, which is good to see his patience and adjustment coming back. This always happens with Manny though. Starts off slow, then picks it up. Manny is the least of our problems right now.

I think that is the key to the day. Both of the monster shots were on changeup's that were low and away. He looked comfortable at the plate for the first time that i have seen this year. That one shot was still rising (laser shot) when it hit the monster--one foot higher and it's gone!
