The fact is, the red sox lost a whole lot but gained a whole lot. Their rotation now has that top 2 big pitchers again, well at least through 2 weeks. But, their lineup lacks the continuity that they had in the past. Mueller was a top 5 hitter w/RISP. Millar at least walked a whole bunch, but youk is a better replacement. Graf was solid, and ERent was better offensivly than Gonzo. The thing is, the sox now have better defense and better pitching so they wont give up many runs, BUT they did that at the expense of their offense. And if they get behind, it is a whole lot harder to come back....

Bill Mueller was very good with runners on. He also hit into an inordinate number of double plays. What's my point? You take the good with the bad, but thus far this team, despite not being bad statistically, has been bad with runners on. And Manny is in a funk. When the other shoe drops, comebacks will be more of a possibility.

Manny is Manny, I hate saying that, but it is true. Gary Sheffield said something that will stick with me. He said, flip over my baseball card and my typical numbers will be there by the end of the yr. Manny is the same way. He'll be around .300 30+HR and 120+RBI. At the same time, though, will youk hit .320 and Lowell be hitting over .300 for the whole yr? Probably not, and they'll likely balance out....

Why would they take out Ted "Red sox Killer" Lilly? Are the BJ's trying to lose?

Because the jays have a killer pen, at least rivinator thinks so----err except for that homer that is!;)

Wow, did my post go completely over your head. I expect Manny to revert to his norm. I also expect for the Sox hits to revert to situational norm......in other words, I expect the ball to start missing fielders when there are runners on base. Right now, the offense is experiencing a sort of double cross. Manny's in a funk and situational hitting is struggling, but I don't see that holding for appreciable periods of time.

And, FWIW, Lowell slipping to .270 and Youk slipping to .280 aren't enough to balance out Manny recovering from .220 and no dingers in 30+ ABs.

I was agreeing with you on the manny aspect. As far as Lowell and Youk, if 2 guys drop 40 and 30 points respectively, it should balance out somewhat. Granted, Manny is a whole lot important than those 2....

Cora hit by pitch or infield single, Youk and Loretta with RBI singles and a walk off grand slam by Papi.

Followed by lunch with leprachauns, a unicorn ride and a basket-weaving class with God.

Aw shucks.

Just get on base Loretta, just get on.

Oh, I'd say there's a few million people thinking the exact same thing.
