No one else has the story yet and until they do I'm not looking too much into this.

redsox.com has it. It is only the website for the team, they couldnt be right, could they? Denial is the first part of the grieving process, we need to get you to acceptance real soon....

And redsox.com has the story from WHDH which means they are using their report and no one elses.

MLB is reporting the story from WHDH which many times happens. Unless another media outlet comes out with their own story and not credits WHDH I won't look too much into it.

The report also said that Crisp will be checked up tomorrow, so its not yet actually definite that he will be out.

Do you seriously believe that? If it was unfounded, the sox OWN website wouldnt post it, period....

like I said before, some breaks in the hand cannot be definitively called broken based on XRays for at least 7 days. There are things that could indicate a break, but are not 100% specific for a break. A bone scan, on the other hand, could....

the sox stuff is written by MLB.com and they take stuff from other media outlets.

it is a joint effort, and yes it is a MLB site, but it is also a Boston site. They certainly would be extra cautious about posting bull...

Well, I hope you're right, jsinger. But if not and Crisp is out, who would you rather see for a month in Cf - Stern or Pena??? I know Stern is the smart move, but damn, I'd love to see what this guy Pena can do.
Posted
Stern but Wily Mo should get some more playing time.

Now this is a good debate issue, because debating on whether a reputable source is pulling our chain or not is a moot point.

I would throw stern out there until Crisp comes back. I love the way Stern swings the bat and I think hes an asset in the field.

I hate to say this, but we all kind of know what Stern can do. And it's quite a lot. Wouldn't it be more fun to see what Pena can do. I mean, he could hit like 7 hrs in that time... Just sayin

I think a guy before this made a great point. You need a leadoff hitter, and not another all or nothing guy. Stern is probably your best bet, but I'd bet you'll see a mix and match of them both...

...and strike out about 1,789,654,434 times too.....

WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAA TMimM. Only Bellhorn K's that much. Will Mo will most likely not strikeout as Bellhorn.

You're right, I got a little carried away. It is more like 1,789,654,433. That's a little more reasonable.

Dude get over being pissed about the Arroyo trade. We got a raw power hitting corner outfielder for a guts and glory but average pitcher. WMP will be good and lower his strikeouts. For some reason or another you must still have a problem about it. Get off your high horse accept the trade, and if your a true Red Sox fan you will root for WMP to do the best he can not condem him every chance you get. I can see you doing thise if this happens 7 or 8 more time but it happened once and in his first start. He was trying to impress and overdid it. Lay off him.

Amorsino is still talking about Crisp with a broken finger. I have no clue where he is getting this info from but no one else has this. He also says Coco will be out of opening day and likely longer.

Michael Silverman is on SportsXtra right now and said its not as bad as Amorosino was talking about. I have no clue who is right but there is really no other source to the story.

From SoSH:

QUOTE

Coco HIMSELF is standing in the stands in Fenway Park and is just looking at everything, taking it all in, but then Burton walked up and asked if he was pumped for Opening Day, to which Coco responded that it would be awesome, but he pretty much said he wouldn't be playing. When asked how the finger was, Coco said...

"We'll see how it goes. We'll rest and see how it goes."

Gordon Edes reports that an Orioles doctor looked at it and preliminary reports are that it's fractured.

Coco said earlier that if it was October, he'd be playing.

6-8 weeks? What the hell did he break? A knuckle takes 6-8 weeks?

Ever broke a knuckle punching something? I did about 3 weeks ago, and my ring and pinky fingers are still useless when it comes to picking things up. Let alone holding a bat, catching, and throwing.

It's a blow to lose Coco if we do, but we will be just fine so long as our pitching continues as it has.
