THere is nothing quite so pitiful in all of baseball as a power hitter in a slump/fooled.

OTOH, there is nothing quite as glorious as a power hitter on a roll.

During this very season he will both be vilified as an oaf, and wildly cheered as a one man wrecking crew. Just about every adult baseball fan in the US besides Red Sox fans realize that the sun rises and the sun sets, and its time to have a sandwhich, and see what today brings. Have patience.

Man baseball has changed. it used to be that you could have a 24 year old hitter, and he would strike out a bit, and people wopuld say, "Hey that's ok because he's still a kid and has plenty of time to develop." Now with bloated salarys and free agency people freak out anytime a team makes a move for a young player with potential upside, because he's not goign to hit .330 with 40 HR's right out of the gate.

For the first time in a LONG time the Red Sox have a team that is not only good but YOUNG and has the potential to be very very very good for years to come with the young players that we have. And somehow a third of the collective fanbase freaks out because we're holding a guy on our roster that is a project.

We could literally become the have Oakland A's young talent along with Yankee payroll to go out and get good players when needed. I really don't understand why people can't just wait a year or two and let the guy develop. God forbid we show some patience.

I had to write a little rant after scannign this thread, the lack of knowledge some people has infuriates me.
