I hear from someone that Willy Mo is who the Yankees traded to get Drew Henson, anyone know if that is true?

My opinion on WMP, is give him time. We all knew he would K alot, he's young and talented and has yet to get 400 AB's at the MLB level.

You hear correctly.

I think WMP will be a great player someday. The problem is do we really want a project when we are a team that wants to contend for the World Series?? Like last night when he was up at bat with guys on base and he struck out in 4 pitches. He needs alot more patience up there.

Would you rather be the Yankees and go out and buy a few new 32+ year old guys every year? Or take a chance on a young guy who could be the next great hitter?

It's not like we got Wily to be an every day guy.

No, the problem is that Wily Mo needs to be an everyday player and in Cincy and in Boston he didnt or wont get that chance. He ius 24 right now, but has platooned for 3 consecutive yrs. If he could have been in a place where he started for the last 3 yrs, he'd likely be much better. He f***ed himself though by requring a MLB contract from day 1....

wmp is not in the reds or tampa bay or kansas city...

he is in the RED SOX.

you can stirke out on those team hundred times and get experience but noy in Red Sox.

this is not that kind of team.

if your payroll is second payroll in the mlb, your player should get the experience in the other team not here.

the problem with whiffen willy moe is hes a all or nothing guy .you get the hr every now and then and you get all the kkkks and lousy defense . you dont get any productive outs no moving the runners over no sac flys .

I think you need help letting go your obession with the old guard.

I don't see why you are so opposed to getting rid of a league average pitcher, with a declining K/9 rate for a player who has the potential to be a .260/.330/.500 hitter. If this risk pays off, they got a middle of the order hitter for the next 10 years. If not, we just gave up a league average pitcher, who was making four million dollars pitching out of the bullpen.

He does not have the potential of a .330 OBP if his avg is .260. More like a .300OBP with a .260avg. The kid cannot lay off anything from nose to toes...

That's his potential. With a .248 BA throughout his career. He has a .304 OBP. If he learns to lay off those pitches, he'll improve. Right now, he's probably a .300 OBP guy. But, if he has a Jesse Barfield like jump in his production, (PETCO has his number one similarity listing as Barfield) then his OBP will unquestionly rise.

Posted
Evern with time he'll learn to lay-off pitches just through experience, only thing is he'll need the playing time, which he can't get because he was sigend so young. So really he was rushed into the Majors and he already ahs 40 HR potential, so give him time and ABs and he could possibley reach what he coulv'e been if he wasn't thrown into the show.

He's 24 years old, he needs to learn to hit top pitching. Clearly you've never heard of a thing called "player development". You're a typical "fan" with no knowlegde of baseball.

Cal Ripken did s***** when he first broke into the league too, the O's jsut should have dumped the s***** hiutter because we all know: how you do when you enter the league is how you will do your entire career.

im not obsessed with letting go with the old guard and i wasnt opposed to trading bronson .i just dont like what they got in return for him .i dont think whiffen willy has the potential you do .remember you never have enough pitching never .

WE HAVE ENOUGH PITCHING!! Look at our rotation!

Schilling

Wake

Burnett

Clement

Wells

If anyone goes down we have Papelbon.. If anyone else goes down then we would be screwed anyways.

As far as the Bullpen goes we have about 10 million options there. We traded an ageing pitcher who wouldn't have been in the rotation for a 24 year old with LOADS of potential, once Papa Jack (In my opinon the best betting coach in baseball) gets a hold of him he will turn into a very good player.

your a typical fan who gets a boner over a home run you dont have anymore knowledge than anybody else .i guess you would have us believe that anybody who doesnt agree with you has no knowledge of baseball .ive played more baseball in a week than you have your entire life .ripken could play defense whiffen willy cant .not all players develope .

thanks for making my point .clement could take his nose dive after the all star break like he has his entire career. wells is 43 he could go down at any time . beckett as much as i love the guy cant seam to hold up for a entire year . so no you never have enough pitching and our bull pen would look alot better with bronson in it because there are still alot of ? marks in that pen .

So typical of the meathead. You are stupid, so therefore, in order to justify your stupidity, you have to consider all intelligent people to be pencil necked geeks. Sorry, not the case here. Keep telling yourself that so you can sleep soundly though.

Back on topic. I don't see why you think Bronson Arroyo was such a big hit to this team's BP. They have a left handed version of him in Lenny DiNardo. Actually, Lenny is better suited to be the LRP in Fenway because he keeps the ball on the ground very well, something Bronson always struggled with. Face it, Bronson Arroyo was a declining league average pitcher who got hammered by lefties and was proned to giving up the long ball (still is, he gave up two in his opener in his new bandbox ballpark). I can understand being upset with the FO for acquiring a project player if they gave up a key component to the '06 team or a decent prospect, but they didn't.

If that happened, then I don't think Bronson Arroyo would be the answer to that. You'd need divine intervention to stop that downfall. But, just for the sake of argument, let's say that we are hit with injuries to that amount.

The Red Sox have plenty of viable options who make much less, and have equal or more upside then Arroyo. Jonathan Papelbon, could easily step in and be a very good starting pitcher. Lenny Dinardo, could equal Arroyo's numbers as a starter. Jon Lester whom could be ready by July, has way higher upside then Arroyo.

It's not often, you're offered outfielders with 35 HR power potential for a fifth starter. Even if Pena never improves his OBP skills, he's still a great fourth outfielder, who mashes lefties.

What happened was a f***ing miracle, and I want you to acknowledge it.

I really can't take ANYONE seriously who can't correctly place a period in the correct order.

As for hypocrites, didn't you launch the first attack when you called him a "geek", not really offensive, but it shows your obvious lack of understanding for the word, hypocrite.

Wait, let me write it so you can understand.
