Chen's a soft-tossing lefty that nibbles and uses lots of offspeed stuff, so I really don't know what to expect. Slick Wily tends to get fooled by breaking balls, but that is usually on sliders from RHP that break down and away from him. It will be interesting to say the least.

I don't know what to expect from him today (well if they actually play a game today). I think chen matches up well with pena--we may not see a good start from pena as the kind of stuff chen has usually makes him look bad. However i hope that i am wrong!

Well he went 0-2 tonight. Didn't get many at bats but none the less didn't produce any hits either in both of those chances.

wmp sucks .he sucked with the reds and he sucks now .a strike out king who cant field his postion WOW WHAT A TRADE.
He's 24 years old, he's a baby in baseball terms. Get off the guys back.

Couldn't agree anymore....The red sox acquired him for upside something Bronson Arroyo doesn't have anymore. Bronson is a nice pitcher but nothing more than a 4-5 starter and the red sox have a potential 40 homer corner outfielder in a few years. I wouldn't throw him under the bus after 1 game.

And besides, if we are going to use small sample sizes, then Wily Mo's line for the season looks like this....

.333/.333/.667/1.000

that's golden!

I agree with you guys. Let's not write the kid off after 2 ABs.

tonight he did look awful in his AB's, but thats only 2 at bats this year. You throw him a fastball and 6/10 id say he hits it hard. He still needs a lot of work, but since hes only 24, he has time to mature as a hitter. If he can get better strike zone discipline and learn how to hit a curveball, this guy will be an all-star in a couple of years

right now, he's Bellhorn with a ton more upside. being in the same clubhouse as manny and papi is only gonna help this kid, don't worry about him

He's Bellhorn without the walks.

ill get off the guys back when he stops striking out all the time.if this bum is still striking out all the time at this level it aint going to change .bellhorns been striking out for years and manny and ortiz didnt stop him from whiffing .the guy is a whiffing error machine .we should have kept bronson. nobodys useing a small sample size either he did the same thing for the reds thats why they dumped him.

No, the Reds dumped him because they were desperate for pitching. They already have enough OF. The Sox needed to get rid of pitching because they had too much. And by the way, what are you smoking? You just compared Willy Mo and Bellhorn to each other...they are two TOTALLY different players. Just look at their build...Pena has a ton of power in him, he just needs to work on his mechanics. And you are wrong when you say nothing will change. Anything can be fixed. Bellhorn's been striking out for years, but he was patient at the plate, which is why he also drew so many walks. Pena will get there. Give the man time. Not all young players are effective immediately, like Papelbon.

3 at bats!!! and he has a double in one of them, and hes 24. You can be as irrational as you want, but Wily Mo has a chance to become a great player. Right now hes just pretty good. Arroyo's numbers regressed last year and hes not getting any younger, and he wasn't going to start.

you never ever have enough pitching . ya i did compare whiffing willy to bell they are both strike out machines thats where the comparison stopped .the reds would not have given up whiffen willy if they thought he was going to be as good as you think he will be i dont care how much pitching they need .some players arent effective immediately and some never develope either and no not everything can be fixed and we havent even talked about his fielding .i made up my mind about whiffin willy long before he was traded to the sox .

I hear from someone that Willy Mo is who the Yankees traded to get Drew Henson, anyone know if that is true?

My opinion on WMP, is give him time. We all knew he would K alot, he's young and talented and has yet to get 400 AB's at the MLB level.
