To be fair, C to D+ MRP that he is, he is an excellent (B+ A-) LOOGY

ya and he'll probably be just a LOOGY in NY. Id say Villone's the long reliver © and Sturtze 7th inning guy (B-/C+)

Still, I'm willing to bet my hair the Yankees win more than 89 games this year. It's that simple. Even Red Sox fans have to admit that.

True the way I see it

The Yankees are the "Red Sox of 2005". They have the best offensive lineup that needs to support the starting staff thats been given. Look where the Sox's offense had carried the team with no Schilling & no real closer. The Yankees on the flipside have Mariano which saves NY a bundle. I project 93+ wins for them this year

None of the three teams have any cant-misses besides the Yanks offense. However, offense, as we've seen lately is no were nea as important as pitching n defense. All in all, after this off-season, the Sox have built themselevs quite a team. Stacked defensively, depending on health great pitching, and depending on career trends, a great offense yet again. The Jays could be killer if Halladay, and Burnett are healthy, but other than that they aren't as scary as the media makes em out to be. I mean Glaus is a HR hitter but can be struck out, Overbay is a loud-mouth who aint no Konerko, and Wells has yet to come into his own.

Yanks (100+)= offense will get them through the regualr season, but in the playoffs, the pitching depth could cost them, Mo is the only sure thing on this team. Th offense will score 900 run at elast, but I wouldn't count on this offense being togetehr talent-wsie as good as it could be this year.

Sox (90+)= team that could be anywhere from average to great and border unstoppable if everything goes right, which is highly unlikely. If the pitching is healthy and everyone does what they've done through their careers, you could see 5 high double-digit winners, and maybe two 20+. The offense has potentially 9 15+ Hr hitters and already 2 all-star sure-bet 30/100 guys in Papi n Manny.

Id say thats optimism on his part.

Well, I believe he has a lot of right to be optimistic. If our infield plays defense the way we all know they can and along the way put up some offensive numbers to go along with a healthy pitching staff, we have a good shot of taking back the East. I can't wait for 2006. Let's Go Sox!

Taking back the east? When the hell did you have it. It's been 10 years since you guys have had the east.

I think we can win more than that.

there pitching is way to sketchy, but their lineup should keep them in the race for a while. I just dont see enough pitching depth for them in august and september when pitchers start to wear out. Pitching > Hitting.

I cant stand the fact that you Sox fans think your pitching is a lot better than ours. Your pitchig was HORRIBLE last year. Everybody was hurt or bad. Same for us, even though I think ours was better based on the fact that our ace stayed healthy the entire season (and won 17 games), and we had some guys come and step up huge for us, and also the fact that our closer was healthy all year. Its extremely hypocritical to say that you expect your guys to have good comeback season but to say that ours, because a lot of guys were hurt last year, will be bad this year. Thats complete ********.

Johnson is uberquestion mark

And Schilling isnt? Johnson didnt miss a start last year and was pretty damn good down the stretch. Not to mention the 17 wins.

1. Johnson

2. Mussina

3. Chacon

4. Pavano

5. Wang

6. Wright

7. Small

8. Henn

What are you talking about man? Do you really think that Sean Henn will make the Yankees? You're completely ignorant and out of your mind if you do. Not to mention the fact that you obviously dont follow baseball very much, otherwise you would know that we have plenty of other guys already in front of Henn.

Wang's K/9 rate should make any Yankee fan nervous.

I dont care how many people he strikes out, as long as he has that sinker going and can get those groundball outs.

Yankees-- 89 wins

lmao

I put Lester and Henn both on the list because those are probably the teams 2 best young pitchers in AAA. I know Henn wont be on the roster opening day. I was just listing the teams top 8 starters. Tell me who else im missing in that rotation. Maybe Ron Villone could start, but i dont no if hes any better than Henn

lets be realistic our starting pitching cant be much better than the yanks is, we do have a ton of question marks. that being said i dont think our, are as big, plus i think we have a better bullpen to back our rotation

I think the Yankees would give a guy like Desalvo a shot before Henn.

red sox, yankees and blue jays all have question marks. I just think that the Yankees have more than the other 2. And the Sox probably have more than the Blue Jays. Only concern the blue jays have is if they can keep Burnett and Halladay healthy.

ya possibly, he put up some good numbers in AA last year

Id say Henn or Desalvo and maybe Steven White, but id guess Henn.

I don't need to rephrase that. Yes, "take back the east" even if it is for the first time since 1995. We are the best team in the AL East just as we were two years ago, and we will prove that. It's going to be another disappointing season, 26 to 6. Sorry.

P.S. COCO'S BETTER.

My mistake, I understand what you meant now.

Definately, especially after this spring.

But Gammons wrote an article about how the Yankees are going to win the World Series...(I wish I could read it but it can only be read by ESPN Insiders.)

Why does everyone seem to pick the A's to win the AL this year? Everywhere i turn (both locally and nationally) everyone is picking the A's. I know they have a good staff this year but their O is suspect at best---and last time i checked everytime they actually make the playoffs, they choke!
