Any Ideas for a Ticket Contest ?

Not saying we'll have one, But there's a good chance. Some of the winners, either gave up tickets or said they couldn't go. It was somewhat of a waste. So this year I want people to win not just be awarded. That's if a have a contest. I need imput, creative contests, I feel like Johnny V.

Guess the Red Sox record in a particular month. And tiebreakers could be like total runs scored or runs allowed etc...Might be a little tedious, but just throwing ideas out.

Ugh...yea that does sound pretty tedious. But I'm hard pressed to think of something that would work better. Can you set up fantasy baseball leagues for partial seasons?

I don't think it was a matter of people being or not being responsible, life happens and we can't always control what goes on.

I felt I was responsible in saying which particular dates I could not go, unfortunately I just happened to be chosen for the one date I could not go. Normally I wouldn't feel guilty calling in "sick", but on the first day of school for a teacher not to show up would look pretty bad (especially considering that I was starting at a new school!).

 

SFOC, whatever you decide to do (or not do) for a contest will be more than generous I'm sure...and definitely brighten someone's day!

And my point was I have a life and stuff pops up all the time that may be fa more important than a day trip to Fenway.

 

For example I'm working in Florida for a little more than the entire month of July. I didn't know htis untill last week so if I had won a july game in the contest and this coems up obviously I can't go...

We have no problem at all. I'm sure if it were at all physically possible you would have been there. I didn't mean to pick on anybody, I was more or less talking outloud. It was also held at a poor time as many members were heading back to school. But since I didn't join until latter in the year, there wasn't much choice. So this year I was thinking of starting earlier, say like latter May and June. The thought being that most of the students ( especially college ) will be out and may not have settled into their summer jobs. Also maybe spread them out more, last year a concentrated on two days. Earlier in the year, I gave the Group Sales route a try... fat chance. I couldn't even get to talk a warm body.

Well, something you could do is make the people entering submit to you a creative essay about a certin factor or story about the life in the world of baseball, and then work off that....that way, they wouldn't take all the work to type it if their not even gunna go(if thats what the issue is)

 

But thats just me, and seeing I wouldn't need tickets to go see the sox at fenway in this life, idk if its what youd wanna do....I just think it'd be cool

Not a bad idea. BTW, I said ticket contest. I didn't limit to just Fenway. If you look under the Contests Forum, you'll see we had a NY and FL as well.

The problem was, the few people that did reply basically gave reasons why they couldn't help or attend. I'm still an optimistic. But realistically, there's only about 20-30 members that would take the time and effort to participate. Out of those, there would be a significant number that would be eliminated due to : lack of funds, schedule, age, tarvel, accommodations, etc. I began to feel like I was shoveling against the tide.

I'm not giving up on the idea. All I've said is that there has to be some help, positive imput, and coordination. I'm willing to due my part.

Based on the inputs I've received, much appreciated BTW, I don't think a gathering (bash ) will work. I will , however, try to incorporate all the input into some sort of contest(s) that will be fun and enjoyable for all. Yeszir , as posted above, said he'd try and make them more visible. I'll try, as best as possible, to make them fun and beneficial to as many people as possible.

Last year there were 3. Boston, NY, & FL. It was basically an essay, " Why I deserve the tickets" I added extra tickets to the pool and drew the tickets. most of the entrants received tickets. I may try something different this year, leave the same, modify, etc. One never knows, but what ever is stated will be awarded promptly. It's just there may or may not be more. As they say, " There's always the unexpected ". Those that pay attention and read all the forums on a regular basis will probably have the best chance(s).
