kyahbean, I take it you like rainbows??

I know.

I want to walk on a rainbow and feel the colors sifting in between my toes.

What the f*** does that mean?

First thing that came to mind is that he's calling her a dyke. As the rainbow is the gay flag.

No it wouldn't. Mentally it'd make me feel like "why the f*** did I just waste $10 on a card."

I guess if you buy a lot of merchandise then it's a good thing to have.

Man Hammer, you're a tough son of a @#$%%!!!!! You did say though that you would save on gear with a card, and that is a residual benefit of having the card. Over time if you bought enough gear it would add up. As for the $10,00, don't tell me a high roller like you can't afford ten bills. That ought to be chump change for you.

How in the hell can carrying around a plastic

card make anyone feel like more of a fan?

All right, You save 20% on merchandise so

now you only pay 80% of the mark up.

Don't you card carrying members get some

kind of newsletter also?

Besides being a Baseball team, the Red Sox

are also a business with the soul purposes of

making money, anyway they can.

If it's now considered "Red Sox Nation" then a

lot of us old timers (some older then others) were

around when it must have been considered "Red Sox

Village".

Over the years the Red Sox have gotten enough of my

money. I don't need to pay $10 bucks a year to carry

around a card telling me something I already know.

"I'm a Red Sox fan"

Kyahbean, Is a Red Sox fan, Show a little respect.

Personally, I'd rather have Margaritas sifting between

my toes. But, The colors of the rainbow is a good thing

When did I make myself out to be a high roller?

People who feel the need to prove that they're fans, aren't really fans.

Personally, I'm not a merchandise buyer, so the card holds no appeal for me. That said, those of you looking down your snoot at people who support the card are being entirely too condescending. If they card makes them feel good, then it has served its purpose and all is well. I see no need to question their fandom over it. Hell, we all root for the same team, why let something so trivial cause a rift, even if it is a minor one. Lighten up.

Hey Ghost, relax. I didn't say you need to carry a card to prove your Red Sox loyalty, and if you don't want to then that's fine with me. It's your call. I just like having such a card in my wallet. It could be that the novelty of being a Red Sox fan is still somewhat new to me. Remember, I didn't start to follow them until 2001 and because I want to show that I'm a real rabid convert I have to prove to myself over and over again that I am really part of Red Sox Nation. Nothing to get upset about. We are all on the same team, remember?

Again, NO you don't have to have a card to be a loyal Red Sox fan. Just said it makes me f eel better to have it since I have, like you, become a fanatical fan of the team. Unlike you, I am a rather latecomer to the team, a tardiness that I still kick myself in the ass for. I need to show that I love this team and that is why I have all this Red Sox stuff, am going to Spring Training and flying in for opening day. I'm a retired teacher, and being a Red Sox fans has made me feel like a kid again. What the hell is wrong with that?

RedSoxGod, someone put out this topic to show how you can prove you are a Red Sox fan and I suggested you could get a RSN Card. Someone suggested that to me on another board and I thought it good idea. I didn't mean to start a war with my fellow Red Sox colleagues. Hey guys, you don't want a card, don't get one. Do you need one to prove you are a fan? No! Can we now get back to the business at hand of talking about our team's chances this coming year? No more card talk, ok?

Thank you ORS! Bad enough I have to joust with some half-ass Yankee fans on two other boards; I don't need my Red Sox colleagues at my throat. I like my card. It is fine for me. If such a card is not fine for you, that's up to you to decide. Now, let's stop this pissin' contest and start concentrating on our team's chances. OK??

Plus, I believe that it allows you to get the Sox radio broadcasts from MLB on your PC--- a $5 value.

I was talking to you rookie; now let's drop this subject and move on. I don't like jousting with fellow Red Sox fans. I wish to hell this subject hadn't even been brought up now.

I really don't think anyone is looking "Down on anyone" who has a Red Sox Nation card.

Like you said, If it makes them feel closer to the team? Then the card has served it's purpose and is well worth the $10 dollars they spent on it.

I also think that it's not the card that gets people, It's the marketing behind the card that's questionable. When this whole concept first came out it was the language in the marketing that made it sound like, "if you didn't have one you were less of a fan", and I think that set a lot of fans back. especially the older ones (myself included) we never had to prove our loyalty before, never did the Yawkey's or Haywood Sullivan or even the money grubbing Buddy LeRoux put a price on loyalty, and that's what I find offensive. If the people in marketing for the Red Sox want Red Sox Nation to carry cards, Then give them away...Free, to each and every fan that wants one. Yeah, This probably is a good time to drop this whole thing.

A card can make you feel better mentally???? Sounds like someone is insecure with their loyality already...

I don't know about you, buy I'd say those two quotes are a tad condescending. You didn't make either of them, so that part of my post doesn't pertain to you. For the record, I'm not trying to call anyone out, just supporting my thoughts once they were challenged.

Ah Malzone, you said. You have been a fan for a lot longer than I have been, much to my chagrin. I'm 65 and wish to hell I could have found this team before late 2000. I wonder where the devil my head was because the Red Sox were there all the time. I just feel I have to make up for lost time and anything I do might help--even getting a card. I am looking forward to going to Spring Training on March 26, and bought one of their travel packages for the Home Opener and second game April 11-12. I have to tell you and others on this board, just as I've done on the other boards I post on, that I really feel cheated that I couldn't have been on board a hell of a lot earlier than I was. I guess I will never get completely caught up. The only consolation is that I only had to wait four years for a World Series Championship. Anyway, have a great weekend and glad to have this all behind us.

Seabeachfred, I'm 58 be 59 next month, It doesn't matter when you

found the Red Sox, What matters is that you did find them. Feel lucky,

you missed a lot of frustrating years. I once had a lot of hair on my head,

If it wasn't for past Red Sox teams I'd still have most of it. But, I got to say,

It was worth the ride. Welcome Aboard
