Wouldnt mind adding him to the rotation, but dealing for Pettitte might be nice too....

That guy isn't a Yankee fan at all is he. Roger Clemens just released his new restaurant near the Houston area. He mentioned he wants to be close to the operation and if thats the case he would retire, play for the Astros, or play for Texas.

The Yankees... or should I say George's, biggest blunder as of recent times was letting Andy go. I can only imagine the emotions going through his head if he was traded back. Roger's a mercenary, a nice one at that, however I don't see a desperate need to add him back right now.

Another nice point in the article is Stick Michael is back in the influential fold.

Hey Rivernator, maybe you guys can get Clemens, then Steinbrenner will invent a time machine and send him back 20 years. Then you can sign Pettitte, and trade Rey Sanchez for Johan Santana. Oh, and the Astros would probably also give you Roy Oswalt along with the other two for no extra charge.

This time all you did was post the link. Plenty of other times I have seen you be completely unrealistic in predictions and such, and other people have posted things to lead me to believe that you were unrealistic in past forums as well. Clemens is probably either playing for Houston or not playing. Someone above mentioned his restaurant, and he pitched for them in BP.

They exaggerated a little in their posting of my predictions, although I thought both Wright and Pavano would fit in well. Both didnt and I am now a little more cautious about my predictions....

Okay, fair enough, but you have to admit sometimes you are very biased.

aren't we all?

I admit I am a bit biased towards the Sox, but I'm realistic. You get ridiculous sometimes. Didn't you say the Sox were going to be third in the division? Now if you were a Sox fan, your Yanks would be third. I at least had the Yanks second, not too biased, and that is truly what I believe will happen.

I never said such a thing. I thought that the jays will cause the sox to miss the playoffs, but the sox should still be in 2nd, I just think the ALWC will come out of the ALC....

My bad, thought you did.

Boston's best hope is that he stays somewhere in Texas (and doesn't come back to the Bronx) because there's no chance he's going back to the Red Sox.

Who the hell is this guy tp say something like that? Freaking Yankee homers I tell ya .... lol :dunno:

In truth though, is there really a high probability Roger comes back to Boston?

He's from Texas, and has the opportunity to sign a LUCRATIVE deal to stay in his home state either with the Rangers or after May 1 in Houston. If he stays in Texas he's closer to his family, and he's in a place where he's beloved by fans and hell-- he has the chance to play with his SON.

Money's no concern, pride may be a little bit, but what makes Clemens happiest (IMO) would be to win in Texas.

I say he signs with Houston after May 1st and becomes a MAJOR second half force for them.

Money's no concern,

Good one!

Money was no concern for him when he left Boston and signed with Toronto to be closer to his family in Texas.

If the Red Sox sign this gutless coward I will not spend one f***ing nickel on the team this year

Like it or not, who knows it could happen. This just in from WEEI, Theo will soon board a plane to Texas to meet with Roger & his agents and to show the video I have previously mentioned. Sounds like they are making a serious run

Boston Herald: "...the Red Sox as we speak are preparing to make a serious offer to one Roger Clemens, who will turn 44 in August. According to sources, the Sox’ pitch will include a slick video presentation that features a number of Red Sox fans imploring the Rocket to finish his career where it began. "

It will be a lonely year this year then huh walrus? :D

I don't have anything particularly against Roger. The Red Sox released him, which means they released questionably the best pitcher of the last 50 years when he was still in his relative prime. I don't blame clemens for that.

At the time I blamed him for going to the Yankees, but the sox beat him up pretty good and I didn't feel like he ultimately hurt them too much.

If Roger comes to boston then the sox would have a great pitching staff. Same with the Yankees. If the Yankees pick up Clemens and DON'T win I think it would be the ultimate embarassment.

if Theo gets this wrapped up he is a god. Goes to collect Curt Schilling and then has a chance to pick up Roger Clemens. My god could you imagine the starting rotation with Clemens, Schilling, and Beckett....perhaps Wells would have a change of heart and want to stay cause I think he is friends with Schill and Clemens
Posted
I agree, of course doing this would end up with 8 starting pitchers. A trade would likely follow shortly after, but would probably still keep Paps in the pen. A healthy rotation of Clemens, Schilling, Beckett, Wells/Clement, & Wakefield would be the stuff that dreams are made of. Papelbon & Arroyo would then give solid go-to guys for a spot start opposed to last years duo of Halama & my boy Gonzo,

Maybe not lonely but it will save me $1500 or so in tickets and another $500 in beer

The best pitcher in the last 50 years?

Here we go. . . .

Name one big game Roger Clemens has won?

I can run down the list of his failures and short falls off the top of my head, I've done it a thousand times, including purposeful ejections, phantom groin pulls and general underachievement and gutlessness when it matters most.

As far as the Red Sox releasing him, Raaaaja and his 40 wins and .506 winning percentage his last 4 yrs in Boston wanted to play closer to his home in Texas so he signed w/ Toronto.

Win/Loss records can be at sometimes deceiving. Beckett & Burnett this past season alone would have each close to 20 wins if not for the avg of 3 run support a game. Clemens as well in 05 shouldve won the Cy young but the Astros really stepped up no offense for him, was it like 5 games he pitched the Astros lost 1-0??

How about instead we look at the ERA's of his last 4 seasons with Boston?

1993- 4.46 / 160 Ks

1994- 2.85 / 168 Ks

1995- 4.18 / 132 Ks

1996- 3.63 / 257 Ks
