hard to take anything away from pitt....Ya right

are the zebras getting a full playoff share?

Ever see a bigger bag job from the officials in the history of the NFL than last night?

Ben Dreith?

This years AFC Championship game?

Off the top of my head, those are the only 2 that even come close.

The National Football League should be ashamed of itself for what they did to the Seattle Seahawks.

That being said, Mike Holmgren blows.

The Stones rocked, even though the ABC censors bleeped Mick twice.

I dont think the refs were as bad as everyone thinks, and I was even rooting for the seahawks. I think that people dont realize that in the heat of the moment, split second decisions and close calls can go either way. Refs dont really have time to think about it. The only real bad call was the one on Hasselbeck when he made that tackle. If you think that pushoff on Jackson wasnt a pushoff, you need to pull your head out of your ass, because clearly he stuck his arm out to impede Hope's (was it Hope?) progress. The TD Ben scored was ruled a TD, and it was so close it couldnt be overturned. Again thats somethign you need to realize. They ruled it a TD on the field, so they had to find evidence that it didnt cross the goal line, and obviously they couldnt find defnite evidence that it didnt, so they called it a touchdown.

All you people cryign foul over the refs are pretty ridiculous. Yeah, Seattle didnt catch many breaks, but they didnt lsoe because of the refs. They lost because of their inability to excecute with a short field and their s***** time management.

I can't believe they can get away with that. Now if the lyrics had said "ESPN", I bet they definately would have let that go.

No one said they lost because of the ref's, champ

And there-in lies the problem. No one that I've talked to, nor anything that I've read said the call should have been overturned. It should not have been.

The call never should have been made.

And the line judge who made it most likely kows that deep down inside. You can go watch the replay and you'll see the LJ running towards the pile-up with his arm up to spot the ball for 4th down then AFTER Rottencrotch pushes the ball over the line after he was down the guy signals TD.

It was a pure bag job in every sense of the word. And if you're naive enough to think that ref's can't be in the bag, either to the league, or to a 3rd party, then the head out of your ass comment might be directed inproperly.

Never even thought of that Yaz, good point :D

so you can honestly say that the officiating did a great job?i didnt ,to be honest i dont like one of the 2 teams but seattle got screwed by some calls ,And also if you didnt noticed seattle played the better game .and the stats proves it, wich leaves the question why did they lost ? this was the worst officiated super bowl ive seen

Yea, Willie Parker didn't have a 75 yd. TD run did he? Randle El threw a 43 yd Td right? So don't ask why the seahawks lost. For real man. Steelers wanted this more then the seahawks. And I know that Bettis didn't do to much, but he's like a commander, he led his troops onto the field, and led his troops to a win. His team wanted to win that game for him, they knew it was his last year, so they wanted to win it for him. That's what happened. Overall, Pitt is a better team. Big Ben sucked it up yea, but other players stepped up all game. Calls?? Those calls wouldn't have made a diff in the first place. One Darrell Jackson did push off. It probably wouldn't have been called though, if it wasn't in front of the ref. Don't do that if the ref is right behind you. 2, the Big Ben TD, doesn't matter. He was less then an inch away from the line anyways. If they went for it on 4th down, which probably would have happened, all he had to do was fall forward. Officiating is just used as an excuse. Their are bad calls everywhere. Get used to it. Get over it. Steelers out played Seattle hands down.

I could find you quite a few posts even in this thread blaming the Refs. I would do it now but this period is almost over and I dont have the time. I will glady do it for you later on when I get home though.

Oh, heres one quick one for you.

the Seahawks got screwed pure and simple. the "low block" call on matt hasselbeck was simply the icing on the cake.

Thats certainly an interesting take on the game.

"Officiating is just used as an excuse. Their are bad calls everywhere"

There were bad calls everywhere.

And they all, without expection, went against Seattle. Just as they all went against Pittsburgh in the Indy/Pitt game.

Could Seattle have overcome the biased officiating?

Yes, they could have.

SHOULD Seattle have overcome it?

Probably.

Does Mike Holmgren blow like the summer breeze?

Absolutely.

But those two facts aside, the Seahawks were fighting an uphill battle against the Steelers and the officials. Saying its an excuse it taking the easy way out. The entire playoffs this year was marred by atrocius offciating. The AFC Title game being the worst. The Super Bowl second and the Denver/New England game third.

I hope Bill Leavy's crew made a lot of money because selling out your integrity should not come cheap.

Wait, didn't Pitt win that game?? And why, because they wanted it more, so even with "bad officiating" teams can still win if they are good enough. So Pitt was def. good enough, to beat a s***** Seattle team. I don't see how people even thought that Seattle stood a chance. I just can't see why, seattle has choked every year they have been in the playoffs. And last year i saw the same thing I saw this year, Bad time management, and that's not Holmgreens( or however the f*** you spell his name) fault. Didn't he win 2 super bowls before?? Yea, Green bay.... hmmmm

You may want to check your facts, Holmgrens won one Super Bowl, not two.

And the only reason he won the first one is because Parcells decided not to coach his last game in New England.

As for Seattle "always choking in the playoffs", could you expand on that? Because outside of last years team that lost to the Rams, I couldn't even tell you the last time they were in the playoffs to choke. When Jim Zorn was the quarterback maybe?

The Ref were brutal but did Jerremy Stevens have to drop almost every pass that was thrown to him? Did Matt Hasselbeck have to throw a pick after the holding call? Did the Seattle defense have to give up a 76 yard TD run? Did they have to be so disorganized at the end of each halfs? Seattle shouldnt point the finger at the refs. Point it at themselves.

No doubt about that.

As I said, Seattle did not lose because of the ref's.

But the officiating was unilaterally horrible throughout the entire NFL playoffs, theres simply no denying that.

And its too bad

Because the focus of everyones talk this morning should be on the GAME, not on the officiating and everywhere you turn, from the halls at school, to the water coolers at offices, to the talk shows and the news reports, the focus and the chatter has been on the s***** job the officials did in calling the game and thats not fair to Pittsburghs accomplishment (and it certainly wasn't fair to the Seattle Seahawks yesterday)

Yeah I hear ya. The offeciating all year long has been poor so I guess it was fitting (sadly) that the Super Bowl would be marred by the poor officiating.

Thats what I was saying here this AM.

I almost feel bad for Bill Cowher because he finally gets the "big game choke artist" label off his back and instead of talking about that, the world is fixated on the joke that was the officiating in the NFL Playoffs. In a perfect world, Paul Taglibue would do something and address the issue of so many blown calls but if nothing else Tags has proved to be gutless over the course of his regime atop the NFL and for him to even suggest that the AFC Title game and the Super Bowl might have been in the bag would not be in the NFL's best interest, to say the least.

Of course this is the same guy who refuses to acknowledge that the NFL is not in bed with the mob so what would you really expect from him?

You are right, they haven't had many chances to choke since the late 80's, but Hasselbeck did pull a gag job two years ago in the playoffs. It was the game at Green Bay that went into O.T., Seattle wins the 'toss, Hasselbeck says "We'll take the ball......and the game", then he threw a pick that pretty much ended the game (I don't remember if it was a pick-6, or if it just set up the G.W. FG).

You're right

I forgot about that game

The 'Hawks were in the playoffs the last two years, not just this year & last.

And the guy from GB returned Hasselbacks pick for a TD to win that game in OT, 33-27 I believe was the score.

I don't think anyone is crying per se, but the horrendous officiating is taking away from what should be a discussion of football and turning it into a discussion on incompetency and possible game fixing. In addition to that, to blow the impact the officials had on the game off as a "Wah" would be truning a blind eye to the failure the ref's had in getting Indy to the Super Bowl and the success they had in helping Pittsburgh to win it.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I hope Leavy's crew made a lot of money for selling out their integrity.

OK simple question. A few weeks ago there was similar talk throughout the media of the NFL officials possibly trying to "screw" the Steelers when they played the Colts. Why would the NFL risk trying to fix another game so soon to that one, and why would they try to do it for a team they tried to screw a few weeks ago?

OOOO ####!! mc hammer has a point. But hey, did you guys see that Willie Parker set the record for longest run from scrimmage last night. That was pretty cool, how did Shawn do? O yea, not to hot. Now im not gonna dis on Shawn, he went to school right down the street from me, and his school has a big rivalry with us, but c'mon, i think that's why they lost, Shawn did nothing

20 rushes for 95 yards isn't bad at all. He just never had a chance to score since the Seahawks never really got to the goalline.

One, please stop using #'s to cover up your curses.

Two, Shaun actually had 95 yards on 20 carries, almost 5 yards a carry and had more yards than Parker.

His run was great, but without that long run, the Steelers still win and Parker's game is crap. He did have a great game but you can't say Shaun did nothing when he had more yards than Parker.
