The Orioles have discussed swaps of Luis Matos for Tony Graffanino with the Red sox and Matos for Todd Walker with the Cubs, though neither deal seems likely now.

Matos was just a fallback option for the Red Sox, who probably won't have much interest if they're able to pull off the Coco Crisp deal. The Orioles may not have been content with Graffanino anyway. The Cubs would be looking at Matos as a backup. Walker would make quite a bit of sense for the Orioles as protection for Brian Roberts and a first baseman against right-handers, even if it'd mean less playing time for Kevin Millar. Do it and platoon matos with nixon. I was hoping we could have gotten Austin Kearns for one of our pitchers but i doubt that will happen

According to the Cincinnati Post, the Reds passed on an offer of Jake Westbrook for Austin Kearns from the Guardians earlier this winter.

It must have been at least a little tempting, especially since the Reds believe they need sinkerballers to succeed at Great American Ballpark. Still, they were smart to pass. Westbrook probably isn't returning to 2004 form anytime soon. Jan. 24 - 3:06 pm

matos could be a great 4th OF

Well it says that is if they don't acquire Coco which seems highly unlikely at this point plus why would they deal a CF who could start for other teams for a player who will be a backup on their team. I would trade Matos for prospects or pitching if anything.

he might not be a backup if roberts isnt healthy. He had a bad injury and might not be the same when he comes back

Luis Matos would be an option as a 4th outfielder regardless of whether or not the Sox acquire Coco Crisp.

I don't see why the Sox couldn't make both moves. With Alex Cora on the team and Alex Gonzalez (supposedly) on the way, Graffanino has no place.

Matos, on the other hand, a good defensive outfielder with at least some offensive potential-- is the kind of player the Sox need right now as their 4th outfielder.

I like Graff, and i actually think it is very possible to pick up Crisp, I've been reading on the website, they think it may actually happen, so we'll see. As for Matos, I don't know much about him, so I'll do my research
