Cubs signed RHP Wade Miller, who had been with the Red Sox, to a one-year contract.

ESPN.com reported that the contract is worth $1 million and includes $1 million in incentives. There's nothing wrong with that, but we'd like it quite a bit more if there was an option for 2007 attached. Miller, who underwent labrum surgery at the end of September, hopes to be back pitching in the majors in May, but not a lot should be expected of him this year. The signing can be taken as another indication that Jerome Williams has no real place in the Cubs' plans. Miller could bump Williams or Glendon Rusch out of the rotation after he returns. If Kerry Wood is healthy, then it's also possible that Miller might pitch out of the pen. Jan. 23 - 4:26 pm et

i hope he comes back strong. If he can't stay healthy this year, his career is probably over.

might be a solid #4 or 5 back in the NL in the same division he used to pitch in.

I was one of Wade Miller's biggest supporters last season, and it's dissapointing that the Sox didn't give him another shot. at $1 mil/season he could have been a perfect insurance policy and given the team even more depth and a shot to trade a few starters.

Wade Miller if he can regain his health is a #3 starter in Chicago-- but that remains a big IF at this point.

..and if the Queen had balls she'd be the King. Sox took the risk on him last year. After off-season surgery, there is no reason to believe that he will be anymore productive than last season. I did't like the way that he didn't attack the strike zone. It was like watching an Al Leiter game.

I dunno I just see him being injury riddled again this year and not doing much for the Cubs.
But at 1.5 million/year, it's not bad work if you can get it while you are on the DL.

Only Ron Artest does better (he's not even HURT and he's just sitting at home making his millions, which are somewhere around 7)

If the cubs took a shot at anyone, they'd likely miss. Their track record isn't too good. With Wood rehabbing, Miller rehabbing, Prior injury prone and Maddux pushing 100 years old, the cubs have a shot at the "simulated-game" World Series.

Um...probably not. because if Wood and Prior at at full health they take 1-2 right there. Zambrano 3, Maddux 4 (or reversed) and then Miller 5. No way hes 3 in that rotation. but those are all BIG ifs.

Good move though, Thats a move I think the Mets should have made, but good signing by the Cubs. Now just keep him out of the bars and clubs and away from the 16 year old girls.
