just because manny has asked for a trade doesn't mean he is going to be traded.

Having an upset superstar should be great for the clubhouse (that's if he shows up for ST.)

i am actually happy with the future of the red sox as they start to bring in more youth to the team as the yankees continue to get older

Just because you repeat something often doesn't make it true.

and forget about a farm system.

Robinson Cano

Chien Ming Wang

Jason Anderson

Colter Bean

Matt Smith

Sean Henn

Melky Cabrera

Andy Phillips

Eric Duncan

Bronson Sardinha

T.J. Beam

I rest my case.

bean is a stiff, so is henn, melky the jury is out on, philips is a journeyman, basically everyone on that list is a nobody except eric duncan. cano is not a prospect anymore and neither is wang. id would still like to see more of them before i would annoint them good players. the yankees farm system won't even crack the baseball america top 20 while the red sox are easily in the top 10 and had they still had anibal sanchez and hanley ramirez they would have been top 5 no problem. the yankees system has duncan, hughes, and maybe J brent cox. they have a bunch of talent at A ball and you can't even get excited about that until they even get higher.

Saying they will win the east is retarded, but so is saying they will fall apart. I have done neither. Too bad you can't say the same thing.

Nobody said they will fall apart (at least that I know of), I said that they are in pretty bad shape.

...and I knew ORS would call me out on that one too

You are the cause of this. I am merely the guy that is walking by and says, "Hey, everybody, look at this tool with his foot in his mouth."

36 year old closer who has stacked up 600+ innings?

Of all the Yankee weaknesses to question, you question Mo?

Sorry, that just gave me a good laugh.

He's 30, and has a career ERA of 4.45

That's what happens when a relief pitcher is a starter for much of his career.

No Phillip Hughes. I mean he's only either the #1 or #2 Yankee prospect in the system, depending on which publication you are reading. You really know that system.

Some better news, I hope;

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic -- Disgruntled shortstop Miguel Tejada is "more upset'' with the Baltimore Orioles because they haven't gotten stronger in the offseason than with the team not fulfilling his trade request.

"Now, I am more upset than when I requested the trade because it's been a month and they haven't done anything,'' Tejada told The Associated Press on Thursday.

Tejada, who is entering the third year of a $72 million, six-year contract, said three weeks ago that he wanted a "change of scenery.''

On Thursday, the disgruntled All-Star said he was upset by the Orioles' failure to make trades that would strengthen the team.

"I don't want to say anything bad that can hurt my teammates, but look at Toronto, they have strengthened themselves and we haven't done anything,'' said Tejada, who hit .305 last season with 26 homers and 98 RBI.

The Orioles and free agent outfielder Jeromy Burnitz agreed on a two-year contract Wednesday, pending the results of a physical, a team source told the AP. The team will pay the former Chicago Cubs right fielder between $10 million and $12 million. The 36-year-old Burnitz hit .258 with 24 homers and 87 RBI with the Cubs last season.

Baltimore also reached a preliminary agreement with free agent Jeff Conine on a $1.7 million, one-year contract. Conine, who played in Baltimore from 1999-03, needs to pass a physical for the deal to be finalized.

Tejada noted that division rivals New York and Toronto made moves to improve. The Yankees acquired outfielder Johnny Damon and the Blue Jays signed closer B.J. Ryan, starting pitcher A.J. Burnett and third baseman Troy Glaus.

"If the Orioles don't do anything, I want them to trade me because I am tired of losing,'' Tejada said before a winter league game.

If he isn't traded by the Orioles, Tejada said he would "respect the game as I have always done.''

"I am not asking for a team of superstars, I only want a good group that helps me to win,'' he said.

Tejada also responded to comments made by former teammate Rafael Palmeiro, who tested positive for steroids.

Palmeiro has said Tejada gave him vitamin B-12 earlier this year, and suggested it might have been tainted with performance-enhancing drugs.

"Everyone knows that vitamin B-12 doesn't do anything bad,'' Tejada said. "I am not upset with Palmeiro, but enough speaking about that already,'' he said.

its pretty bad in the upper part of the system. even the yankees front office didn't think wang and cano would produce what they did. the red sox farm system is in 100 times better shape than the yankees. if philip hughes can't stay healthy then it will be even worse than it is.

He's been upset since he signed with the Red Sox. I can live with the numbers he puts up when he is upset. It is scarey to think what he would do if he was a happy camper. Yankee fans are saying novenas that the Sox FO trades Manny. They don't care what the Sox get in return. They need to break up the Dynamic Duo.

I wouldn't say 100 times better. The Yankees system isn't bad from about low-A down as of last year, but several of those players will start in high-A and probably get promoted to AA this year.

the sox have alot more players closer to contributing at the major league level. all im saying about the yanks is the upper levels are pretty dry of talent. they have talent from A ball down to rookie league. that talent is still too far away to determine if it will do anything. if hughes can't stay healthy then their system will take a hit because they don't have another pitcher like him in the minors.

Bingo. He's been fine these past years put up MVP numbers every year, and handled his business fine. It's not like he wants more money, he's just in one of his moods. He'll be fine.

does anyone really care what kevin millar thinks. he had a terrible year last yr and he thought the red sox would bring him back. he will be lucky to find work next season

what are you talking about? Bean has great stuff and would be on any other teams active roster right now!! (and if hes such a stiff then why did you uys take him in the Rule 5 prior to 2004?), cant say Henn is a stiff based on what, 3 starts? Melky had a VERY good season last year in the minors. Phillips isnt a journeyman, he has only been with the Yankees, he has just been in the system a while. Matt Smith has drawn comparrisons to B.J. Ryan, Sardinha had a good AFL season, not sure how he did in the regular season, but he wasnt that bad. Shelley Duncan (2B, Trenton) had a GREAT season, we had a bunch of really good players in Staten Island this year, Eric Duncan we all know about, Philip Hughes we all know about, J. Brent Cox could make his Major League debut this coming season (would have been a callup had our roster not been so filled) and was relentlessly compared to Hansen before/during the draft. We have the SS Henry who is supposed to be VERY GOOD, Mitch Jones had a very good year (granted, he is 28  ), Cosme was pretty solid for Columbus, Marsonek, when healthy, has some heat, DePaula, before he had his Tommy John surgery had actually won a spot in the rotation out of Spring Training in 2004, had a GREAT callup in 2003 (anyone remember in his debut where he had a perfect game and lost it in the 7th??), Dave Parrish could make somebody's roster as a backup catcher out of Spring Training if he was a Free Agent, Kevin Thompson has projected to be a pretty solid Center Fielder and had a pretty good year last year (dont have numbers in front of me, but I believe it was more then pretty good), Kevin Reese could develop into a pretty good outfielder, a good 4th outfielder (maybe a starter on a bad team) AT LEAST

...I am done for now, but you get my point.

Not going to lie, I'm not an expert on the Yankee farm system. But I do know that it is not nearly as bad as Red Sox fans wish it was.

yea, Red Sox fans are convinced that Little League Baseball of America has better players than our farm system.

But just because somebody isnt a top prospect doesnt mean they wont turn out good. Scouts arent always dead on. The Yankees couldnt give Robinson Cano away in 2004 (The Rangers rejected him as an extra player int he A-Rod deal, the D-Backs didnt want him, as well as some other teams) but look at him now.

if colter bean was any good the he would have been on the yankees last year when they were having bullpen problems. henn is a nobody who wouldn't crack anyone other systems top 10. melky as i said the jury is still out on. philips is a nothing. a backup at best. all their talent is at A ball and lower. they don't have a system that compares to the red sox. there farm system won't even crack baseball america's top 20. its a system that is not in real good shape.

Someday soon you may be looking back at the glory days of Kevin Millar and the 2004 RS.

id like to see more from cano before i annoint him the next great thing. he has some nice tools but he might not have what it takes to play second base because his defense is not very good. wang might have been a surprise but his K rate is not what you want from him and he could have problems if he can't get strikeouts.

no one is going to cry over kevin millar and im not going to look back on the 2004 red sox because i am excited about the future and all the great young talent on the horizon.

And how do you know all of this exactly? You are basing your judgements on a few Major League games. Henn is pretty highly touted and Bean has been talked about A LOT lately (even on this board), he just hasnt had a real chance yet. He did do good in his appearance last May.

Like yankee fans do with Paul O'Neill and the 2000 New York Yankees?

you are definately underrating his defense, while he is no Ryne Sandberg yet, he was still pretty solid last year, just a few rookie mistakes. And if you need to see more from Cano then you must neeed to see EVEN MORE from Papelbon before talking about him as highly as you Sox fans do. So I dont want to ever see you post soething about how Papelbon "is such a great pitcher, next roger clemens, etc., etc., etc...", otherwise you are a hypocrite.

That’s the way I felt in 1979 and 1980 then 15 years went by and I was like “What happened”

Like Yankee fans do with Paul O'neill for his entire tenure with the Yankees....Paul O'Neill is a GOD in New York.

henn is not highly touted. he isnt even in the same breath as any of the top pitching prospects in baseball such as lester, papelbon, verlander, king felix, billingsbly, olsen, liriano, anibal sanchez, zumaya. i mean come on those are legimitate pitching prospects. henn will be lucky to be even a 5th starter someday. henn is only highly touted in new york to pump up his value to use in a trade.
