It's amusing that you're the one to bring up anger issues when you'e one of the more abrasive posters I've seen on this board. and yes the Yankees choked in 2004, you only got here a few weeks ago so obviously you don't know my feelings or posts on this subject matter, which I'll forgive since I'm the kind of guy who lets a retarded kid get away with double dribbling. Remind me again why we're talking about this when the whole issue is that you seem to always whining/complaining/bitching about something? Just because I call you out on it doesn't mean I'm angry. This is the internet, it's pretty stupid to get fussy about something on a chat board, but then judging from your previous posts, you probably haven't learned this lesson yet. When you get to legal drinking age, maybe we can have more contructive discussions.
I guess I really hit a nerve with my suggestion about your user name. Sorry, you can keep it, even though it is meant to be abbrasive. I realize that you need an outlet for your anger, and this is better than you kicking a puppy. Keep it. It is better for society that you unburden yourself on a message board.

My user name comes from Rod Smart's time in the XFL. It has no relevance whatsoever to anythign baseball related. You've just proven my point about your overreactions

Sorry again! I keep getting these "hate" user names mixed up. Speaking of over-reaction, I make a criticism and suggestion about user names, and I have been under an onslaught of attack by the Yankee contingent on this board. Is it really that easy to get under your skin? Take some deep breaths and relax. We don't hate Yankee fans here. We hate your team. Don't take it so personally.

It's not about getting under our skin. It's about GIVING IT A REST AND TALKING BASEBALL

You guys went on the rampage. Count the total # of posts from the Yankee contingent and the # from me on this topic. Then tell me who over-reacted. Also, note the nasty tone in the e-mails. I think that counts for something. Then let me know if only I should be giving it a rest.

Sorry we are defending ourselves. Theres more posts from our side, because no one else is backing you up. Everyone else just wants to talk baseball. I can't post in a thread without you adding one of your snide comments like '4 reasons..' or '4 to 1'...whatever. Maybe we should refer to you as a200hitter? Is that what you want?

How bout the number of posts since you've even attempted to contribute to the baseball conversation?

Dude, just let it go. We have very peacefully coexisted with Sox fans on this board for some time without any fuss over user names, signatures, etc. What difference does it make?

It is far more productive to talk about baseball- why a team/player is better than another, why a move was good or bad, why Johnny Damon talks like a retard. These are the things that make for interesting discussion, not trying to argue that the first 22 World Series don't count because you don't remember them.

So let's move on, k?

It's hard to talk baseball when I am responding to attacks from numerous posters. I am sorry that you get bent out of shape that I address you guys as 4 to 1 or 4 Reasons to Hate Us. I am just poking some fun, and I intend to keep doing it. So, get used to it. I am not calling you names or hurling insults your way, like you guys are doing. If you call me out, I will respond. So , don't get twisted if the thread gets ruined, when I was the one who got called out. Now, please breathe slowly into a paper bag, and when you are done pass it to the other Yankee fans until you are all calm and we can discuss baseball.

Alright, you all keep on saying get back to baseball, and yet you all are just spilling out your feelings. It looks like everyones apologized, so lets get abck to what the thread was meannt for.
Here, here! When is the FO going to do something about getting us a SS and CF? If they wait too long, there may not be too many opportunities

If your FO is serious about focusing on 2007, then I don't see them making a move for a SS or CF in which they may have to give up a good or great prospect. I believe the Manny situation will determine what the FO's real plan for 2006 is.

Posted
I heard yesterday on NewEnglandSports Tonight, that they might stick with Alex Cora at short. That scares me a little, i would feel more comfortable with Lugo or Gonzlalez. As for how to get a CF either trade Arroyo or Clement for either Crisp or Reed, Personally i would love to have crisp he plays the game hard, is a good outfielder and put up nice stats 300. 16. 69 he also stole 15 bags. I think he would be a great fit and a fan favorite

Good call. If they are intent on bringing in high level prospects, Manny is a damn good chip.

NewEnglandSports Tonight must not know what theyre talking about, that makes no sense what so ever when we have a more than capable 2B in Graffy and have an experienced and defensively solid SS in Loretta. I would be very confused if they released Graffanino to play Cora.

For what its worth, it was Tony Massorotti of the Hearld, who usually knows what he is talking about. plus i have also heard that they might cut Tony G in spring training as horrible as that sounds.

Hopefully, Manny goes nowhere. No prospects are worht losing Manny.

How good is Manny going to be in '07, and what kind of players can you get back for Manny that would likely be better than him in '07. Those should be the only things you consider.

Posted
both loretta and graffanino are average defensively and each have limited range. putting both of them up the middle would weaken the red sox defense where it is most important(up the middle). that is why i can see cora starting at short and loretta at second.

I do believe that Tony should at the least be kept on board to be a utility man, very useful as he can play all infield and outfield positions. He hits well with RISP, knowledgable baserunner, embodies "whatever you want me to do, im there" approach

Not to nitpick, but theres far more to consider. How about the positions they play, 06 production, production after 07, and how much money they make.

Posted
if they release him before spring training i believe i heard they only have to pay 1/6 of his salary for 2006. they will most likely move him in a trade instead.
Posted

I believe the 1/6 figure is correct. I do recall that because of arbitration all of that money is not guaranteed.

But Graf has value (as pointed out above). It is possible that Lowell could suck royally this year. If so, we need to do some juggling, and Graf's ability to play 1B is valuable. If we move Graf and Lowell is cooked, our only internal option is Marte (which might not be that bad a back-up plan).

You don't have to worry about how good Manny will be, and currently the only player worth trading him for that is available is Tejada.

Exactly what I wouldlvoe for him to instill in Pedroia.

Boston Globe: Snow in forecast for Sox?

January 1, 2006

Free agent first baseman J.T. Snow, who has been on the precipice of deciding on a team for about a week now, is close to signing with the Red Sox, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation. The addition of Snow would give the Sox a promising platoon at first base, as the lefthanded-hitting Snow, who won six consecutive Gold Gloves (1995-2000), could share at-bats with Kevin Youkilis and potentially Mike Lowell.

Snow's decision probably has been held up by the health of his father. Jack Snow, the 62-year-old Rams radio analyst and former player, was in critical condition in a St. Louis hospital with a staph infection as of Friday. J.T. Snow, who turns 38 in February, has played his last nine seasons with the San Francisco Giants. He's played 13 of his 14 seasons on the West Coast after breaking in with the Yankees in 1992 at age 24. He played only seven games with New York before being traded to the Angels.

A .268 career hitter, Snow hit .275 with 4 homers, 40 RBIs, and a .343 on-base percentage in 117 games last season.

I for one, am glad to hear about this. Even if it is tentatively penciled in as a platoon, I believe Youkilis over the course of the season will become the primary 1st baseman. Snow reverting to a solid late innings defensive replacement.

Posted
Yeah, i don't mind it, though I'd prefer Youkilis to get the majority of the playing time, as it looks like will happen. If anything, Snow serves as a good mentor for Youk there defensively. Also is Snow better than Mienkiewicz or Olerud defensively?
