Why do Yankees fans post their opinions about their team under the "Talk Sox" board? You guys know there is a general baseball talk forum for you guys to express your opinions about your hometown teams. I dont give a s*** about how you think JT Snow will look on the Yankees or how he will be coming full circle. I dont go on NYYfans.com and tell everyone how much I would enjoy it if Clemens came full circle. I believe the Forum "Talk Sox" is for Sox fans to talk about the Sox. Its not "Talk Yanks". There is general baseball forum set up for you to express your opinion elsewhere. I dont want to be a dick, but honestly when you make usernames like the ones some of you Yankee fans have, its a direct shot and a calculated blow to piss people off, then your signatures are created in a fashion to further piss people off, then you come in telling everyone how many championships blah blah blah. The funny thing is, I probably know more about your team than you do. Any baseball fan knows the Yankees won 26 championships. Great! grand! wonderful!....you had nothing to contribute to it. Funny how in the early 90's when the Yankees sucked nobody attended their games. I bet when the Yankees sucked in the early 90s you were an Atlanta Braves fan.

Take a Midol, come back tomorrow.

btw... I loved the yankees in the late 80s/early 90s, in case you couldn't tell from my avatar. Don't even get me started about the number of bandwagon sox fans since 2004 either...

I think you are referring to RSN. Don't worry, Johnny Damon took the whole female population with him. I wouldn't call myself a "Sox fan" either. I like to consider myself an intelligent baseball mind, open to appreciate all aspects and accomplishments of the game. I know exactly what NY has accomplished and dont need to be reminded of who Babe Ruth was, or how many championships the Yankees won. Im pretty sure I have an understanding of both.

Let me ask you this though "Yankee fan". Who was Bam Bam?, what positions did he play? What can you tell me about Brien Taylor? What did his career as a Yankee look like?

Posted

theres a trivia thread already

I cant spell bam bams name... Hensly Muelens or something like that

Brien Taylor was a #1 overall pick, a pitcher who the yanks gave the biggest draft pick contract ever at the time. Probably the biggest bust ever.

ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND you dont know....sad, two highly touted prospects you know nothing about. Diehard Yankes fan or the early 90s huh? At least you knew who Tom MAttingly was, no wait, Don Mattingly is it?

Hensley "Bam Bam" Meulins. Undrafted third baseman, moved to LF. Surprised many by his power in the minors, Never did anything in the Majors. Played a few successful years in Chiba (Japan). Also played Independent ball. Retired from the Dimondbacks in the late 90s.

Brien Taylor. #1 draft pick, got huge contract. Hurt hmiself in a bar fight before he ever threw a pitch. Career minor league statistics....1-10 14.13 ERA, never got out of A ball.

I became a fan of the Yankees when they sucked ass, calm yourself. I even thought Steve Balboni was kinda cool for a while cuz I didn't know any better, so nuff said.

Im not taking a shot at all Yankee fans. Only the ones who come into Sox forums and are very smug, and intentionally try to piss people off. There is nothing wrong with having pride.

Bam Bam Hensley Meulens, other half of the failed reincarnation of the M&M boys with Kevin Maas. Brien taylor was the Yankees #1 draft pick. lefty with a 95 MPH fastball at age 18. Received a $1.5 million dollar signing bonus. blew out his arm in a bar fight while in the minors, and thats been it. Btw, in this age of google, these types of questions are too easy. Try something harder, like what is the name of the restaurant that WPIX kept showing for a game whenever Matt Nokes came up, and why.

yeah those 24 HRs really gave me hope. Everyone talked about Shane Spencer's September debut, but Maas was the original

if the sox sign JT snow I will vomit all over this entire forum..

he makes kevin millar look like babe ruth. This FO is so f***ing cheap -- maybe they can get George scott or mccarty for a few bucks.

Everyone has just got to relax and be patient. It's not the FOs fault the FA market sucks, that everyone is offering bloated contratcs to average players, and practically no good players are out ther to plug our holes. IMO Theo would have made the same decision with Damon bby sticking to a 4 year 40 mill deal. It wouldn't be his fault if the Yankees want an aging CF who "doesn't know where the ball goes when he hits it".

IMO patience is a luxury the sox cant afford for precisely the reasons you stated. If they sit around and wait then they will have nothing.

center field/leadoff is just part oft he problem.

I dont want to rain on the parade or be negative but we have another potential problem..

foulke is a huge question mark and the thought of starting the seaons with him as our closer is frighetning. Granetd the job is his too lose and we currently have so manyother holes to fill it isnt even funny.

um why would the JT Snow be a bad move?

He wouldnt be signed on as a full time starter, or even platoon role. He would be signed to be a late innings defensive replacement, 6 gold gloves proves he will be a solid glove for Tito to call on for. This move will firmly place Youkilis as the everyday starter.

Damon in 2004:

.380 OBP, .477 SLG, .857 OPS

Damon in 2005:

.366 OBP, .439 SLG, .805 OPS

Also his defense has shown signs of faltering

2002 and 2003: 1 error

2004: 5 errors

2005: 6 errors

If this isn't declining then if anything he is returning to his norm or a .290 BA and .353 OBP (absolutely terrible for a lead-off hitter). Not to mention his .285 second half.

ya exactly what is wrong with JT Snow. He'll have the exact same role as John Olerud had last year. In 2004 he hit .327 in 108 games. He has a career fielding percentage of .996. His not going to play everyday. He is much better than Kevin Millar.

Alright would you rather have

a) signed Millwood to a 4 year deal

B) sign Zito to a 4 year deal

Would you rather

a) sign Johnny Damon to a 4 year deal

B) sign Andruw Jones to a 4 year deal

Patience in the end will serve us much better then if we went on a spendinng spree to keep us Sox fans temporarily happy that we signed decent players when we couldv'e waited (like we did) and signed All-Star players who are younger than the ones we couldv'e signed this year. Not only that but as I've said numerous times we have 4 potential future All-Stars coming up in maybe a half year. That doesn't even include Papelbon.

IMO this isn't a bad off-season at all for our team, if anything we're letting teams like Toronto go after all the decent and potentially good players while next year we go after all the good and potentially GREAT players. Remember, patience is a virtue

So because this is the Talksox board we cant post here? And the reason for the username is because of all the ******** I have taken for the "choke" in 2004. You guys taunt us with the choke, so 26 to 6 is my defense. And my sig in NO WAY should piss you off, there is no anti-Sox stuff in there. My sig recognized Yankees retired numbers, numbers of significant yankees who might eventually have their numbers retired, and recognition of the AL East title. If say the Orioles had on the division and I recognized that in my sig then I can understand you getting mad.

No, as a matter of fact I have been a Yankee fan my entire life and remember going to games back in '93, '94, '95, etc... (back in the RC Cola days, as we Yankee fans refer to them as  )

Why would you even consider calling me a frontrunner when half of this "Red Sox Nation" thing didnt become Sox fans until 2003?? I should be the one questioning you.

That's assuming these guys hit the free agent market. If you remember, Johan Santana and Ben Sheets were supposed to be free agents this year too.

the braves will do anything they can to resign Andruw Jones. I think Zito will become a FA and atleast see how much he can get, but the A's need him and will try to resign him also.

I've already said this several times, so why not once again. In large, bold letters....

ANDRUW JONES ISN'T A FA UNTIL AFTER 2007

Where the f*** do you Red Sox fans come off questioning us of our intelligence regarding the Yankees and their history. I am getting tired of it, with all of the bandwagon Sox fans, we should be questioning you.

Im not taking a shot at all Yankee fans. Only the ones who come into Sox forums and are very smug, and intentionally try to piss people off. There is nothing wrong with having pride.

You took a shot at me on the last page, but I think that I behave pretty well on the sox board. The only thing that might "piss people off" is my username, which is explained in my last post. Retaliation for the taunting I receive from Sox fans for the "choke".

MAAS haha, what a unbelievable two months he had. I understand they werent hard questions, which is even funnier he couldnt answer them.

So to be a true fan nowadays you need to know EVERY single thing about EVERY single to play in the organization?? Then tell me who was the Sox's 33rd round pick in the 1999 draft??

Everyone talked about Shane Spencer's September debut' date=' but Maas was the original[/quote']

yea, too bad neither of their career's played out like we all expected based on the impact they made right out of the minors. Shane is even having a hard time being a star player in Japan (for Hanshin I believe). He didnt have a horrible season, but it wasnt what everybody expected.
