i think Bill Mueller was way ooverlooked in his career in Boston. he was a great leader in the clubhouse. just a good ballplayer. i hope someone can fill his role he had with the team.

The home run off rivera, the game winning hit in game 4 after the roberts steal. It was obvious he wasn't coming back, best of luck to him in everything, but he'll be missed.

good luck billy. a classy guy who just quietly went about and did what he had to do every game. my fave billy mueller moment tho, would be the two granny's (one from each side of the plate) in Texas.

Mueller was great. Great glove and the 2003 Batting Champ.

He was a nice Yankee killer too..

Listening to the audio of Mueller's homer still gives me chills to this day! I am saddened to hear of his departure..what a class act that guy is!

it looks like billmill will end up in Pittsburgh, not LA

The Los Angeles Daily News believes the Dodgers are on the verge of dropping out of the bidding for Bill Mueller.

They aren't willing to match the Pirates' three-year guarantee. The Red Sox would certainly prefer to see Mueller end up with Pittsburgh. They'd then likely get the third pick in the second round of the draft in addition to a supplemental first-round selection. The Dodgers would give them a third-round pick at best. Very happy to hear that. I think Ballgame and Casey's leadership will really help mold the Pirates young clubhouse.

he was one of my favorites and I cant understand how we could let this guy leave. He was a true gentleman, a class act in every way. He had another year or two left in those knees, we are losing a lot by not getting him back, and along with dougie, we are slowly but surely dismantling the kind of chemistry that makes our team great. Not necessarily the best players but the important clubhouse guys.

thanks for everything billy, you will be missed.

we traded a backup catcher for an above average 2b. how could you possibly have a problem with that?
