Well what they did was stupid, the game wasn't technically over.

RPI of 66 and SOS of 123 are not favorable. they need to get to 20 wins. that means at least 1 win in the ACC tourney along with beating Miami to close out the year.

They just beat the #1 team in the country who has lost ONCE ALL YEAR....that RPI will go down substantially.

 

according to jay bilas hes sees 22 bubble teams and 11 of them will make it to the field of 64, and FSU will be one of them.

it will probably go to down between 45-50 and that is still a team on the bubble. it all depends on what they do with their last game and in the ACC tourney. if they go out and lose to miami and lose in the ACC tourney first round then they have no chance at going to the tournament.

Any bubble team that knocks off the #1 team in the nation is all but guarenteed a birth. So FSU is in, right now. No doubt in my mind.

i want to see them get to 20 wins before i put them in the tournament. that is the only quality win they have all season. granted they beat duke but they have not beat anyone else. 2 more wins and yes i would probably put them in.

Between Sheldon and McRoberts there were atleast 8 phantom calls last night, and Sheldon actually fouled out of the game on a foul given by Greg Paulus ... I really see how the refs got them confused ... 6'9 black guy ... 6'2 white guy ... I can totally see how they messed that up Don't get me wrong I'm not blaming the officials for our loss, because we should have blown FSU out. I'm simply saying that it was a really lame way for the refs to make up for their mistakes the last time these two teams met. You don't punish kids for your own dumb mistakes in the past.

 

Doug Gotlieb on "Game Night" said that last night was the worst homer officiating he's ever seen in a college basketball game.

I agree one hundred percent on that issue, even when it all happens within the span of a few possessions.. I'm not going to comment much on the officiating because you know how I felt about the first game, and I didn't get to watch as much of this one as I'd have liked, but I think 'make-up calls' are something that's wrong with basketball and, on a lesser level, almost all sports.

 

As for Doug Gotlieb's comments, I don't take them too seriously because the last poorly officiated game you see is always the 'worst officiated game ever'. I'm guilty of the same thing. That's not to say the officiating wasn't awful, though.

Wow, im never posting in this thread again, it seems like it always comes back to ACC basketball Or the Big East. I mean i'm a UK fan, but where is the love for Memphis?? Memphis is number 2 in the nation and no one says anything about that. Drives me nuts man

When Memphis plays somebody, we'll get excited. As it is, Memphis/Marshall, Memphis/Tulsa, or Memphis/Rice doesn't get me too excited. Want me to say something about Memphis? Memphis should NOT leapfrog Duke, especialyl considering Duke won the only time they played (on a neutral court). Just like Memphis should NOT have leapfrogged UConn and Villanova.

memphis is #3 behind duke and UConn. also memphis hasn't played a good team in at least 6 weeks.

No leapfrogging? UConn lost by 5, on the road, against the #3 team in the country AS the #1 team in the country in front of, I believe, the largest crowd to ever see a college basketball game in Pennsylvannia (so the crowd was intense, to say the least). Memphis, just the night before, knocked off lowly Tulane.

 

UConn went from #1 down to #4, below Memphis despite a FAR more impressive resumee. That's leapfrogging. I'm not saying the difference between 1 and 4 matter right now, but you wanna talk about their rank. They SHOULD be #4, even after this week with Nova or Duke at #2 and #3 (either order works)

Memphis has 2 wins that are worth a f*** this whole year. Them being in the top 5 in a complete joke if you ask me.

 

The ACC and Big East may not be all of basketball, but they are without a doubt the two best conferences ... the best rivalries ... and the National champ this year will come from one of the two confereneces.

 

Sorry that I don't care about a memphis team that hasn't beaten anyone of note in their last 17 games. Sorry I'm not excited about that big win over UTEP last week.
