The injury report does the Pats no justice because so many season begining starters are now OUT for the season. Matt Light is doubtful, but thats nothing new. The Chiefs have a couple of guys OUT FB Ronnie Cruz (Knee), OLB Kris Griffin (Hamstring), and FS Jerome Woods (Hamstring).

The Patriots are looking like a team that is struggling to do just about anything. We have a lot of young players filling in which turns our normally solid smart team into a young dumb one. There are a couple of pleasant surprises this season that will help us in years to come. Cobbs has come up big in a couple of games, Colivin is showing he is back from his injuries, Patrick Pass has shown us what he can do, and a couple of other guys are still showing that guys want to come here and play hard for Coach Belicheck. The only problem is that none of those guys are game changing players. Brady is doing all he can do to make it work, but he hasn't been given a lot of time to do much from his O-Line and our lack of a running game. Teams can just guess pass most of the time and feel OK with that.

When it comes to play-off talk a lot of people are saying we will make the play-offs yada yada. Well they better show us something more than what their showing us because in the play-offs all teams get better. We currently are showing no signs of getting better.

If your on today and see this thread lets get a good game thread going. Every week I sit here with my kids (that could care less about sports at this point) and wish I had some other peeps to talk to about the game.

Another friggin INT.... GOD DAM it!

I would like to say that I believe we can win, but it looks like our 2 game winning streak is going to be snapped. Things are going to have to turn around quickly. We need someone like Evans or another guy to step UP!

I'll tell you what I think about this game. The Patriots are displaying exactly what NOT to do in a football game. Their defense is being torn to pieces, Brady hasn't looked good or comfortable on one play, I don't think Evans has gotten much positive yardage, and somehow Trent Green hasn't missed a throw (that he didn't mean to). We're lucky it's only 10-0, and it's about to be 17-0.

It's interesting to hear them talking about how Tom Brady is depressed and "down" during practice. It will be interesting to see how he deals with loosing like this. I know after his first Super Bowl they had an not so good season, but Tom is generally used to winning since he started for this team. If he's "down" their done!

One Bill Belicheck is good at is changing things up in the 2nd half. Hopefully they talked in length why they are sucking so much.

We need to get some more 2 TE sets which both or one block for the long pass and if that isn't available one or both go into a screen pass. Brady isn't getting enough time to find his targets.

Something else I've seen is Tom Brady yelling at his teammates. I don't think I've ever seen him do that. He just chewed out Patrick Pass (not sure why).

Is now 19-3 we are in trouble cause KC has the ball again and that means at least 3 more points and easily 7 points.

Posted

Thats the ball game.

Bad pass intf call. Cobbs played that perfectly. Then Dante Hall the most under used WR in the NFL goes for a long TD. 26-3. It's all over folks.

Posted

well they gave us some empty hope at the end there huh. At least it made it fun to watch.

I don't see them betting all those "bad" teams the rest of the way. Tampa Bay WILL win that game, and they will lose at least 2 other games the rest of the way. Play-offs in my mind are not 100%, but we most likely will make it. Then what? If we can get healthy by then we have some kind of chance to go somewhere, but if we have the personal we have now and play like we did today it will be 1 and out.

I HATE using this excuse, but I think its safe to say that all these injuries are the reason we are 6-5. I can say right now with Dillon, Harrison, Bruschi, Gay, Poole, Light, etc. for the whole year we would be 8-3, or maybe even 9-2. Its depressing when you think about how good they could have been, but theyve just been completely raped by injuries.

so you basically see the patriots losing 3 out of the next 5 games to finish out at 8-8?

A 9-7 or 10-6 finish seems more likely. The players that have been out will start to come back next week for the Jets game and so on.

8-8, 10-6... either way, it's good enough to make the playoffs. I think 9-7 with a first round loss to San Diego, Pittsburgh, or Cincinnatti is most likely.

Interesting how one of the strongest divisions before the season started turned out to be one of the weakest in the league.

waaah waaah waah waaah waaah waah waaah waaah waaah waaah waah waah waah! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! *insert crying smilie*

Every single team has a ton of injuries, and they're all playing through them. The only team that hasn't been bitten by the injury bug is the Colts and thats why they're undefeated.

Try winning with your 2nd and 3rd string QB before you start crying.

How come Brady is only the best player in the league when everyone is healthy?

Kind of busting your balls here, but in all honesty I'm sick and tired of everyong blowing Brady when he does good and making excuses for him when he does bad.

youre blindsided if you dont see the great future hall of famer Tom Brady is. Besides yesterday's game he is captain cool in tight knit games specifically the playoffs. Kind of bustin your balls here, but that is what Big Ben has not proved yet he can do.

9-0 in the playoffs, which I believe is tied or he holds the best record ever for a quarterback. Is that 21 4th quarter game winning drives Brady has on his belt? Does he lead the league in passing yards and has a chance to break 4000 yards?

OK did I say anywhere in my post that he isn't going to be a HOFer? He could have retired after last season and he'd be a HOFer. I'm just saying that Pats fans along with almost every analyst is giving Brady and the Pats a pass because of injuries. The fact of the matter is that every single team in this league, besides the Colts, is playing through injuries ... yet Pat fans and espn analysts make it seem like the Pats are the only team with injuries.

I love Tom Brady too. But like all us, sometimes he screws up and has a bad game. This is one of those times. He stunk. What 4 interceptions ? He's done it before, and he'll probably do it again. This doesn't mean that he should be belittled or degraded. It just means he's human like all of us. BTW, MC Hammer its too bad you missed T-day games. You were hot ( resluts in week 12 thread ).

I just want to make it clear that I'm not bad mouthing Brady ... I'm bad mouthing certain fans(cry babies) and certain analysts.

... I saw your PM on wendesday ... then just completely forgot about it. I'll win next week :D

Im not making any excuses for Brady, in fact I didnt even mention him. He did play like s*** and I dont need a Steelers fan to let me know of that - I have eyes I can see just fine thank you.

actually on cbs it showed that the patriots would play the wild card not a divisional champ team, so far its looking like the jacksonville jaguars

Yeah, I said San Diego, Cincinatti or Pittsburgh because either Cinci or Pittsburgh will be a wild card team, and San Diego will be too as I don't think they have much of a chance in the AFC West behind the Broncos.

Jacksonville seemed like a likely choice, but then Leftwich went down for atleast a month.

We've done that already. And look at what's come out of it...

That second string QB led us to a superbowl championship in 2001. He led us to the next 2 superbowls in the next 3 years. That second string QB that we kept winning with was Tom effin' Brady. Thank you.

As far as the Tom Brady conversation goes, he's, without a doubt, a Hall of Famer and one of the best QB's in the league. But I also get annoyed at the excuse making -- not saying anyone on this board is guilty of it, but in the national media, they are.

Listening to sports talk radio and hearing a summary of the game, I hear "And Tom Brady tied a career high with 4 interceptions..." and then that guy gets cut off by "... but 3 of them were tipped passes, so they weren't his fault."

Hmm... funny, I didn't hear people making excuses for Jake Plummer last year when a lot of his passes were tipped INT's, too.

Posted
Yeah, tipped INT's are the worst to watch. They need to make a new stat category for it or something, like WR induced picks or SOMETHING. Because when the QB hits the WR in the chest and the WR f***s up bad and the DB gets an INT, that's definitely not the QB's fault, and statistically it's misleading. Tom had a bad game yesterday. That's the bottom line. I don't hold it against him though, it's been his first in a long long time. And being basically the only offensive weapon on the field with a lot of new linemen on the field as well is hard. He's gotta make sure everyone knows what their doing. But hey, KC is a great team. I'm actually surprised at how our defense picked it up at the end considering their o-line has like 3 starting probowlers on it.

The way the team is playing I could see them going 8-8! 9-7 would be nice and is possible, but I really don't think 10-6 will happen. Now if it does happen I'll be the first person to say I was wrong and I'll be happy if I am wrong.

I might just be down about the season so I'm thinking worst case vs. anything else. It's just all pretty depressing. It's almost like post-championship depression. Red Sox and Pats made us so proud, but now it's just a little sad.
