Kareem and Magic were on the same team and won five rings together' date=' Einstein.[/quote']

Pretty sure those Laker teams were regarded as Magic's teams, Oppenheimer. Kareem came from Milwaukee. Magic was drafted by the Lakers. People didn't talk about the Lakers-Celtics rivalry in terms of Bird and Kareem.

I liked what Barkely had to say: "When you're 25, you shouldn't be trying to piggy back on other people."

Reggie Miller and Chris Webber also ripped LeBron for his decision. They all said this will hurt his legacy and he can no longer be compared to MJ, Magic, Bird, and even Kobe.

There was a stigma around Kobe for not winning without Shaq until he won without Shaq as "the man." That same stigma will be around LeBron until he wins as "the man." That looks like it will never happen now.

First off, the reason that Kobe was getting crap for not winning without Shaq is because Shaq was the one getting it done , Kobe was just starting his career and didn't have as much as an impact as Shaq did .

If it was the other around and Kobe was the one getting it done and Shaq wasent , then it would of been a whole different story .

If Lebron goes to Miami and plays better than Wade and Bosh then I cant see how it can be consider "bad for him"

now if he goes to Miami and Wade is the one getting done of the 3 , then you guys have a point . so IMO we'll have to wait and see how this plays out

Kobe was in his early 20's averaging 25+ PPG those years, he deserves a whole lot more credit for those than he actually gets. Yeah, Shaq was great, but everywhere he went he had an elite player with him. And those teams didn't have a third max-contract caliber player with them like the Heat will. At the very least, about Kobe you can say that he ran Shaq out of town so it would be his team. Kind of the opposite of what Lebron's done.

So in 2000-01 when Kobe averaged 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists a game in the playoffs he wasn't "getting it done"?

he was but Shaq was just a bit better

Shaq had quite a run going in those 3 years, he was unstopable , thats why he won all 3 MVP's and Kobe didn't

When MJ was winning all his titles no one on his team was outplaying him/ out scoring him .

Lebron certainly has a funner game to watch than Kobe. Kobe's also six years older, often plays hurt, and has had to adjust his game. If you needed to pick a player for one series... you'd be foolish to take Lebron over Kobe. And Kobe's intent was never to leave the Lakers -- he used his opting out as leverage. He said it scared him how well of a fit he would've been for the Clippers.

What moves should they have made? When they picked up Jamison they became the clear cut favorites to win the East, remember? At the time everybody thought Mo Williams was a great pickup. His surrounding cast wasn't as bad as everybody makes it out to be. They might still make the playoffs this year without Lebron.

By the way, the dislike isn't for Lebron as a player. It's the arrogance to have a "Chosen 1" tattoo on your back and refer to yourself in third person as King James, to jump and flex and stare and pose after every basket you make, to approach ESPN about having a one hour special to announce where you're signing... when you've never come close to a championship*... and then to cop out and take the easy road to winning one. You're so great? Embrace playing against the best players the league has to offer... don't join them.

*And yeah, when he went to the Finals, that wasn't close. It was a slaughter because all the good teams were in the West.

And it looks even worse when you see a guy who some would prefer to have over Lebron sign a huge extension with Oklahoma City and announce it quietly over Twitter.

Agreed all about LeBron's doucheness. And agreed that he isnt in Jordan's or Kobe's class right now...

I dont agree that he cant ever get in their class though. Hes going to go play with his Pippen/Rodman, or his Worthy/Kareem.

The disqualification is ridiculous...

Jordan, Bird, Magic never had to leave to go to other great players... but those great players were given to them on the teams that drafted them.

Cleveland didnt give LeBron s***...

I'm really surprised they didn't bring him back. I figured with their philosophy of going for it all in the next 2 years would have meant bringing Allen back as their defensive specialist off the bench. Maybe they believe Bradley can be that guy despite his lack of size. :dunno:

Really? I've always thought his offense was pretty much a non factor aside from the occasional layup or two. He always looked so awkward while trying to handle the ball.

Yeah but when he dunked over someone. The game with Shrek and Donkey taking over he was a big part also.

Now that the Heat got rid of Beasley do you think the Heat have a chance to get Iverson?

0% chance. Its not going to happen in a billion years. That team would be better off with a guy like Scalabrine in the starting rotation than AI. There are too many personalities, and he would tear the already fragile alliance apart.

LMAO! Please Scalabrine is a joke! The Heat would never pick him up. The reason i said that is because Iverson can fit with the Heat. He cleared up his family issues and just wants to get back and play. He wants to win a ring that he deserved long time ago. I really think it can work.

They all have big egos. If Iverson is willing to be a role player and make the league minimum, it could work. But he was a malcontent with that role on Memphis. Granted, different team and circumstances.

The reason AI never won a ring was because of his playing style and personality. He scored a lot of points because he took a lot of shots, and he will not be content watching other players have major roles while he's on the bench, it simply isn't in him. I believe he's a player that simply never deserved a ring.

On another note-- how does everyone think Big Z will fit into this team? I really think that he's a great pickup for them.

I honestly think Z will work fine with the Heat and LeBron. But Iverson did deserve a ring. They guy worked his ass off his whole career and always came up short. Didn't have the team necessary to get a championship. He did take the Sixers to the finals back in 01 i believe. Yes he did take a lot of shots but that was needed for his team to win. Of course he isn't content to watching players from the bench. When your a first round draft pick and has been starting his most of his career you don't just sit on the bench. That's why he didn't work out to well with Memphis and Detroit. Anyways i know Iverson can work well with the Heat even if it means he has to be on the bench. If it means getting a championship he will do it trust me.

So Lebron put an ad in a newspaper thanking the city of Akron for everything they did to him. Cleveland is mysteriously absent for the article.

Serves Cleveland right for being such dicks about the whole situation. Seriously, I understand you're hurt, but the man gave several years of his life to them, and the whole city hates him in unison because he wants to win.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who was able to see this. I think you're my new friend.

I'm glad you see it too. I think the press conference wasn't exactly the best way to break it to Cleveland, but I don't think it actually affected the reaction. Most of the sports analysts are predicting that Cleveland is a 20 win team without him, and that says a lot about why he left.

Its not like he went to a team in the same division, or a rival, and its not like he went out like Manny or Shaq. When he left, his owner publicly insulted him, not the other way around. Jordan gave Chicago several prime years of his life, but did Chicago hate him when he left for the Wizards?
