I post on quite a few forums' date=' mostly basketball, and the hate that Kevin Garnett is getting is just staggering. What's great is, nobody ever accused him of being a thug or punk when he was in Minnesota. f***, he was considered a model player there. Last year, no one accused him of being a prick except for a couple of angry Hawks fan after the Pachulia thing. Now that he's a winner, everyone wants a piece of him.[/quote']

... or now that he's playing in a city that people outside of that city care about. Things get covered a bit differently when you play for the T-Wolves than when you play for the Celtics. Just the way it is.

He was never called a thug or a punk because, honestly, nobody can remember any incidents that would justify calling him that -- I sure as hell can't. But I do know that he's had, what, two things in his time in Boston?

I'm not saying I consider him any of those things -- but that's my explanation for it.

I think Garnett is getting a bad rap from this year, but, he always did the same things in Minnesota but that was in realtive obscurity. He's doing some crazy s***, but it's nothing that he hasn't done before.

It doesn't matter how the teams are 'covered'. If Garnett played dirty in Minnesota, he played dirty in Minnesota, and should have been called on it then. None of the market crap matters, watch the games for yourself.

I should clarify, I don't think he's dirty at all. He talks, he intimidates, and that pisses other teams off. That's not dirty, that's intensity.

Exactly. But he's just now getting called on it. Nobody had a problem with Garnett when he was a perpetual loser in Minnesota. Only now, since he has a ring, do people start complaining about him.

The markets do matter though, and that's 100% why this is being made an issue. Although Garnett did do the same things in Minnesota, only the hardcore basketball fan would know that, the lay person goes by what the media shows them. Right now, the media is all over the Celtics, the media was never all over Minnesota. People are seeing Garnett more than ever now, and heavier criticism should be expected.

If you don't like it, honestly, man up and ignore it I guess would be the best thing. I like hearing stuff like this because you get to hear both sides of the ball.

Thank you! That's what I was trying to say, but you said it an awful lot better.

The Wolves got an awful lot of TV time from 03-05. I think at least a few people would have picked up on Garnett's antics during that time, when they were at least respectable.

The media was all over the Celtics last year. Except for Hawks fans who were mad about the Pachulia thing, I never heard anyone taking shots at Garnett.

What do you mean hearing both sides of the ball? These are baseless, bitter comments from the fans/beat writers of the teams that the Celtics/Garnett crushed. That's the only thing that's bugging me about it.

Both sides of the ball as in both sides of the issue. I find his "antics" fun, and shows how much intensity the guy has, and I don't really think it's disrespectful. Is there a need for him to clap in a guys face all the way up the floor? No. Is there a need for a guy to crawl like a dog on the ground? No. I enjoy them, and it's a treat to watch the guy night in and night out, but I can absolutely see why hes getting called out on it.

He did a lot of s*** last year, a lot of s*** this year. The difference between this year and last year is that this year its toned up this year because "people are out to get him because he's champ". They're not bitter, and they're not baseless because he's done the s***.

I agree that his antics are fun.

People are out to get him in the sense that other players are turning up their intensity against him and the Celtics, so that in turn ratchets his up even higher (didn't think it was possible). To say people are bitter because they take an opinion (which you may or may not disagree with), IMO isn't right.

Bobcats to sign Juwan Howard. I repeat, JUWAN HOWARD.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

He was a Nugget earlier this year.

I didn't know they had ever released him. I guess I never knew because he never got playing time to start with.

I thought he was out of the league way back last year sometime.

Would it not be a better idea to give some young guy from your NBDL team a shot? I mean, really? Juwan Howard? Now that Isiah Thomas is through running the Knicks into the ground I think it's pretty clear that the Bobcats are the most mis-managed team in the league.

Yeah, they're a pretty young team, and they do actually have some talent, so maybe they've brought him in more because he's a veteran than anything.

By the way, I saw this somewhere and forgot to mention it. In that game in which 'Melo had 33 in the third quarter, his player efficiency rating in that third quarter was nearly 200. The best players in the NBA are typically around 30 over the course of the season.

For those of you with Directv, NBA League Pass is free through Sunday.

This Cavs/Blazers game is one of the more exciting regular season games I've seen in a while. That Portland crowd is so awesome.

The East starters are:

Dwyane Wade

Allen Iverson

Lebron James

Kevin Garnett

Dwight Howard

There's no way KG should be starting over Chris Bosh, in my opinion -- and how the hell can anyone justify Iverson starting? Fan voting's a joke.

The West is:

Chris Paul

Kobe Bryant

Amare Stoudemire

Tim Duncan

Yao Ming

My beef is with Stoudemire over 'Melo, especially since that is the SF spot.

I've grown to not beef with voting. Mostly the people who vote are just voting to get their guys into the game, rather than just who actually should be. Yi being 3rd for forwards is the reason why I do not vote for this stupid thing.

If I had to pick unbiased and who SHOULD be in the game, for the East, Wade, Johnson, James, Bosh, Howard.

Ming also should not be a starter

How does Yao not deserve it? Sure you could argue Jefferson, but Yao has been the only consistent thing on one of the most inconsistent playoff teams in the NBA. 20/10 with 2 blocks on 54%/87% are awesome numbers.

Rockets: 43 games

Ming: 42 games

Artest: 31 games

McGrady: 28 games.

I also feel Ming is being under looked at in MVP discussions as well. IMO LeBron is the MVP no doubt, but no one is talking about Ming. He's carrying this team with the cancerous T-Mac, Battier missing boatloads of time, and Artest putting up his worst numbers in a long time.

Nene has also been fun to watch this year, I'm hoping to see him in there as a reserve.
