NO, don't send Pavano to the national League. We will never get to beat our record of 20 runs before an out is made.

10 runs.

But anyway, I saw that game on Extra Innings. Total ass-whoopin'.

Screw Myers, he sucks. No Ryan or Wagner, then don't bother with the lefty reliever.

Myers is a pretty good lefty specialist, like for a batter or 2 at a time

Looks like the Yankees have a pretty good shot of getting Brian Giles, and it looks pretty likely. Not sure he's my top pick for CF, as I would prefer a leadoff guy to move Jeet back to the 2 spot, but Brian Giles is a good, productive player who I wouldnt be too disappointed to have.

Giles is an excellent fit offensivly. I dont know if he could play an everyday CF though. Maybe the Yankees would rotate Giles and Matsui in CF. So Matsui would play LF on somedays and Giles would play CF and then Giles plays LF on somedays and Matsui plays CF. They could also start Bubba in CF and move one of them to DH for a day also. They have some options. Also by getting Giles you can have him take over RF if Sheff leaves at the end of the season and then bring in Andrew Jones (whos a FA at the end of the 06 season) to take over CF.

Nice. I think that is pretty logical.

with Giles consistent high OBP each season (career .413 OBP), doesnt that make him a suitable leadoff hitter?

yea, im sure we could bat him in the leadoff spot if we desired, but I was talking more of a natural leafodd guy. I dont know how much experience Giles has batting leadoff in his career, but to me he looks like more of a middle of the order guy.

True but there aren't many natural lead-off guys out there ( Ricky Henderson, Damon, etc). It will, however, allow Jeter to got back to batting 2nd ( where he had some of his best years ).

idk if this has been posted yet

Right-hander Carl Pavano, who signed a four-year contract with the Yankees a year ago, has been telling friends he wants out. A person who spoke with Pavano late in the 2005 season said Pavano was "miserable" with the Yankees and that he would like the team to try to trade him this winter. He has not yet asked the Yankees to trade him, and he might not make the request formal, but he might not have to. A baseball official familiar with the Yankees' offseason plans said the team would listen to offers for Pavano and would consider dealing him if presented with a good enough trade offer. The official also said, however, that it was "not a front-burner issue." The Detroit Tigers, who attempted to sign Pavano last year, are a possible trading partner, since they seem to have money to spend. But the Tigers are more interested in trying to trade for Arizona right-hander (and former Yankee) Javier Vazquez if they can.

Good call! Too often people get caught up with speed or fundamentals in the leadoff spot. Personally I love the idea of a guy who gets on base for Rodriguez, Sheffield, Matsui and Giambi to be leading off.

Hello every..Its been a while since I've posted here...and its cuz I was told I was banned for some reason, I wasn't sure why, but I just figured whatever. Then I came to chack it out, and saw I wasn't, so I'll start posting here again.

So far for the Yankees-

They've gotten newer coaches and declined on Tino

I liked getting Mizzili as the bench coach, and same with Pena and whoever we got at first. I take that move that Roy White and Lou Sojo are done?? I'm not too sure about Ron Gudruy as the pitching coach mainly because hes never done it before..and I don't want a rookie coach trying to lead a WS rotation.

With the declining of Tino, I sence 2 thing-

1- A lot of weight is going to be put on Giambi, he needs to play well...and not do anything to miss 50 games:rolleyes:

2- Were going younger for that Andy Phillips canalso play 1st

I guess I liked our moves so far...and well have to see what other ones we make

New Yankee offseason plan to combat the Red Sox acquisition of Beckett:

Overpay for Burnett, spend lots of money in a feeble attempt to catch up.

The last thing the Yankees need right now, is starting pitching.

these guys just cant get over themselves regarding this Beckett thing. But yea, there is no doubt George and Cash will respond with something big.

Let's say, hypothetically, that the Yankees made a very good trade that would land them their future ace. Would you be happy? Or do you have no soul.

Please, lets not go over what happened with Pavano when he went to you guys.

The Red Sox move for Beckett was a no brainer. This is no "major move" out there for the Yankees to make really. The only one I can think of is signing Damon away from the Red Sox but his asking price is like 7 years 80 mill some s*** like that. You would have to be insane to give him that. IDK, With the weak FA class that is out there and the Yankees unwilling to trade any good prospects(which is a good thing) there just isnt much out there to do. At this point I would continue to try and bring Gordon back for 2 years. If he wants that 3rd year let him go. (assuming you cant get Howry or Ryan) If I were Cashman I would be on the phone with the Marlins trying to get Mota from them. They are in a fire sale so they would move him. If you cant get Mota give Tavarez a call(not a fan at all really). I would also make Matt Smith the loogy. I could see J. Brent Cox becoming a big part of this pen mid way through the season because I dont see any major improvment on the way. When it comes to CF I dont know what to do. That is a question mark at this point.

Nobody was making as big a deal regarding Pavano as you guys are about Beckett, NOBODY.

Why do you guys have so much confidence that he will be your future ace. Besides his 2003 Postseason performance, this guy has proven absolutely nothing.

He is 7 games above .500 for his career (41-34), he has never gone 200 innings in a season, 3 complete games for his career, 2 career shutouts, doesnt go too deep into games (though he gets you deep enough) as he has never averaged 100 pitches per game for a season in his career, career ERA is 3.46, never had 200 K's in a season, has never started 30 games in a season (not exactly a quality I would want my ace to have), doesnt give up too many homers or walks (which is good), and something I found quite interesting is that 2005 is only the 3rd year he has finished with a w% of at least .500, only the second in which he has finished better than .500, and only the 1st in which he has finished 2 games better than .500 (15-8). And not to mention he's been on the DL about 78 times. So based on all that has been provided, I would hardly be able to consider this guy an ace. And you all know I hate to dig into the stats, but I had to, its the only way you guys understand things. Here is the link.

So if you are declaring this guy the future ace based purely on his stuff, then you got another thing coming. because aces arent made because of their stuff, if that was the case Jaret Wright would be the ace of every staff, Brett Jodie would have had a long Yankee career as an ace, Yusmeiro Petit would be the #2 on the Mets staff, Craig Hansen would be the closer for Boston, and I could go on and on about guys who had/have great stuff but were/are not aces.

Sorry guys. Like I said, outside of the 2003 postseason, this guy is gar-bage

Doesnt look like we're getting Gordon back, Mota would be nice but he brings some bagage (something that could be taken care of by the hostile Yankee leaders such as Jeter, Jorge, and if Tino was still there, etc..), bring in Tavarez as a kast resort as he has very good stuff but a horrible attitude (seems like). Matt Smith could be a very nice addition to our pen, as there is a a pretty good chance that if we dont reel in a top setup guy that Smith makes the club with Proctor out of Spring Training. I think Cox might need another year, but there is a good chance he could be up this season. I would also persue Ricardo Rincon for the lefty spot, I think he could be pretty decent there. As for CF, we just need to get a guy who can play the position for a year or 2 and keep it warm for Melky. Someone who can platoon with Crosby or play it everyday. Dont really know who that is, but it has to be someone because it looks like Giles wont be coming here (things could change again though). As far as im concerned, we still have a lot of work to do, but I still think we are in pretty good shape.

First of all, he's 25, second of all, what was Javier Vazquez' record? 89-93?

Oh but wait he was on the Expos, so it must not matter, but wait Jaret Wright is only 57-50? oh yeah, Pavano is 61-64.

Yo 26 to 6, is that why the Clippers are your favorite NBA team in the West Coast? ;)

Actually, no. Good try though. Believe it or not, you're not the only one to ask me that.

The reason I like the LA Clippers is because I just get mad for them when watching Clippers games. I would hate to have to play my home games with another teams banners hanging in the rafters. There is so much Lakers s*** tthere and you know it has to bother the Clips when they are playing home games and they leave the banners up there.

Also, I love the jerseys, the color scheme and everything. Also, my cousin knows Elton Brand (cousin lives in Peekskill). Not well, but knows him through a friend.
