So I'm reading Chad Tracy's name....FINE sign him up. That would be expensive but with a young infield including Youk, Pedroia, and Tracy...yeeeaaahhh sick.

D-backs would want pitching, pitching..and maybe some more pitching. Holy crap we have pitching...sort of. In the forms of a million starters. Lets take Clement and send him back to the NL and stick Arroyo with him. Give the D-Backs Vazquez, Webb, Clement, Arroyo, and Russ Ortiz. Thats a starting rotation that should get them far in the crappy NL West

yeaah one problem, so sox would give arizona clement and arroyo, a package deal worth under $20 million and Sox would get in return a player worth just $325,000?? clearly Arizona would have to give up more to break even

even if it would be just an arroyo for tracy deal, id expect more from arizona like relief pitcher Jose Valverde, 26 years old, who for last 16 innings of relief gave up no ER. and also does his share of strikesouts compared to innings, 75 in 66.1 innings. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/7151

That makes no sense. That is the equivalent of saying the Marlins would have to give up more than Miguel Cabrera ($350,000) to get Trot Nixon ($7,500,000). Every team in the league would give up their best outfielder and a mid-level pitcher to get their hands on Cabrera. It isn't about equality in salary being traded; it's about equitable value.

Tracy, as promising and cheap corner infielder/outfielder, has immense value. Clement is getting overpaid, and Arroyo is one year away from FA. Arroyo's value is good right now, but Clement is an albatross for us right now. The D-Backs would be doing us a favor by taking him. To be honest, if I were the D-Backs, I'd only do that deal if the Sox picked up some of Clement's salary.

i think we could pick up some of his salary since the new player we'd get only would cost 335K!!!!

Well if the D-Backs trade Schilling for....Casey Fossum?? and trade Randy Johnson for Javier Vazquez...who knows they have deffinitly done some strange things. At least we know they will trade with us since we also made that stupid Hillenbrand for Kim deal.

thats a good site, i've been surfing it for about a week or two now.

It's not perfect

Paul Byrd to the Royals:

2 years 14 million?

Wow, that's just as bad as my bet on the hemophilliac over Roy Jones Jr.

Valverde...WOW. Talk about a bullpen upgrade. Thats VERY unlikely (aptly mentioned "Schilling won't be traded..." etc.) Watching him when he's pissed, it's almost like game over. He reminds me of Carlos Zambrano, by his mood dictates how he throws. I saw Jose close the game against the Cubs, and he K'd Lee (looked foolish), Aramis Ramirez, and I think Burnitz  . He has serious stuff. Intersting proposition.

thanks, yeah he would be an ugrade to the sox bullpen. i have seen him pitch before, and know how his presence is on the mound. 2005 season had seen sox pitchers lose their dominant edge over batters, like the way pedro would move batters off the plate if they were leaning in too much. Papelbon had exhibited that when he pitched inside to Vladimir, that made him fall on his back.

Yeah, dominance is definately what he has. He has experience in closing games, Definately wouldn't mind seeing a combo of him, Timlin and Foulke/Hansen. Sorta like the Dodgers had it a few years back, after the 7th "it was over..." Dreifort in the 7th, Mota in the 8th and Gagne in the 9th.

I miss Mienty. I would like to see him back. I think that he was a great pick up for the Sox in 2004, and a not-so-great loss.

He's overrated, stole our WS ball, and did terrible last season. IMO Olerud is comin' back.

he didnt steal yout world series ball. He took the ball that HE caught to give you guys the World Series. Cant blame him, I would have done the exact same thing. And na, hes pretty underrated, he is one of the best defensive 1Bmen in the game. But yea, I think Olerud is coming back too. But I also wouldnt be surprised if you guys made a huge push for Konerko

I think by "Overrated" he means with his bat. True though he is one of the best defensive first baseman in baseball.

Regardless of whether he's overrated or underrated, he might be the right direction for the sox to be moving in... of course we're not getting him back, but a good defensive player can make all the difference for a team. If we're going to forego having speed and bunting, then we should really load up on defense and power. So far we've loaded up on the power but the defense has been pretty weak.

I think that's why Cameron's name keeps coming up in Ramirez discussions. I'm not a big Cameron fan, but he's a very good fielder and has some pop.

He kept the ball and gave it to his wife secretly to sneak it out. He knows that ball belongs in Fenway Park w/ the fans to remember that magical season. Anyway, I should re-phrase overrated to with his bat, of course he's a great defensive 1st baseman, but he didn't do much with his bat here.

exactly the ball that was used during the last out wouldve been a great addition to the trophy and world series ring when the Sox Front Office had brough them to just about every city in New England. For me I had got to see and touch the trophy and ring, but to hold the ball used as the last out would be even more speechless.

I understand where you guys are coming from, but in all fairness to him it is not stated anywhere that you must give the ball to the winning team.

And he didnt just take the ball and give it to his wife to sneak out, he actually went to an MLB official first and got it authenticated. Now if it were a requirement to give the ball back the official would have taken it then.

...I dont feel he's overrated, but he's definately not a very good hitter. I never hear people hyping up his offensive abilities. But in fairness to Doug, he is capable of depositing a ball into the seats.

The Phillies want to keep closer Billy Wagner in house, and they sent him a new offer on Tuesday. Details are not known. However, the Phillies reportedly handed Wagner a deal last week that was worth a guaranteed $22 million over three years, the Philadelphia Daily News reported. Wagner is seeking a three-year, $30 million deal with a full no-trade clause.
