After seeing him pitch in person and watching him demonstrate his uncanny ability to walk guys I think he needs to only pitch the second half of each season. We could split time with him and wade miller and actually get one pitcher who can be effective the whole year.

Historically, he's terrible in the second half of the season. He just runs out of gas. It's unexplainable...

It's not unexplainable ... you just explained it. He simply does not have the stamina to last a full season.

I haven't seen any reason to keep him in the post season rotation.

def agree with you on that, lets compare Bronson and Clement's last 5 starts

Matt Clement: 25 ER in 18.1 innings

Oct 4 @ CWS: 8 ER in 3.1 innings

Sep 29 vs TOR: 4 ER in 5 innings

Sep 24 @ BAL: 0 ER in 6 innings

Sep 18 vs OAK: 7 ER in 1.1 innings

Sep 13 @ TOR: 6 ER in 6 innings

Bronson Arroyo: 17 ER in 31 innings

Sep 28 vs TOR: 7 ER in 3 innings

Sep 23 @ BAL: 3 ER in 7 innings

Sep 17 vs OAK: 1 ER in 7 innings

Sep 12 @ TOR: 3 ER in 6 innings

Sep 7 vs LAA: 3 ER in 8 innings

personally, I don't think either Clement or Arroyo is a great option for a possible game 5 but unfortunately, with this staff, we probably don't have much of a choice. god I miss Pedro and Lowe

someone else mentioned that with the travel days, you would have Wells available for a game 5 on normal rest. that being the case, you would start Wells if you were smart.

You certainly can't call Clement a big game pitcher. That was a pathetic display. It actually wasn't the guys who were hit by pitches and it wasn't getting behind in the count......it was the batter he faced after giving up the three run homer. He wasn't close to the plate and he didn't look like he even cared and it pissed me off. Now he has every right to be angry cause he was having a horrible inning......but this is the playoffs. You have the Boston Red Sox behind you and if you can keep them in the game then you have a shot.....he let it go to his head and the game got away from him.....that is where I take Bronson Arroyo or any of our pitchers over Clement cause they will continue to fight....he just gave up

Clement has been terrible of late and everyone is saying that Bronson should start now don't get me wrong I like both pitchers but personally I would rather see the Sox start Papelbon he's been stellar the last couple of times he's pitched.

Papelbon's games that he started when he was just learing how the majors are like:

July 31 vs Twins (No Decision, Sox won): 5.1 innings, 4 Hits, 3 Runs, 5 Walks, 7 Ks

August 16 @ Tigers (No Decision, Sox won): 5 innings, 6 Hits, 2 Runs, 2 Walks, 6 Ks

August 21 @ Angels (No Decision, Sox won): 5.2 innings, 5 Hits, 0 Runs, 3 Walks, 2 Ks
