are you here to merely gloat

No I'm not here to gloat...I was making a point after someone else decided to bring the, "When was the last time you won a playoff series?" routine. I'm only saying, how can you say that we blew a 15 game lead when you didn't even have a 15 game lead to blow.

I love Dave Roberts, but being realistic, he's one good player on a joke of a playoff team.

Haha, watch them go to the 'ship.

ooh man i agree there. they have to face the cardinals 1st round?? ah thats going to be a 3 game sweep for the cards

What an AMAZING upset it would be though if the Padres were victorious. Peavy is actually a decent answer to Chris Carpenter...but after that they will need guys to pitch out of there minds. That Padres batting lineup is pretty pathetic but who knows...guys can get hot for a week. Maybe Brian Giles is this years Carlos Beltran.

Congratulations to the Red Sox from this Orioles fan! I hope that you guys can repeat. The Red Sox coming back from 0-3 last year against the Damn Yankees is one of my favorite all time sports moments.

Actually I'll be happy if the White Sox or Angels win too, as long as someone beats the Yankees.

Obsessive Yankee Disorder in full effect.

okay so your saying the whitesox wont win a postseason series?, okay so what if they do? are you going to say they will lose in the alcs? now im not saying the whitesox will win against the redsox it will be nice to see that, but im just wondering what if they do beat the redsox and go to the alcs? will you still say they are finished?

I don't think they have a chance. They were the best team in baseball, in July. Unfortunately, they fell apart. You always have to go with the hot team going into the playoffs. And unless Boston has pitching problems, I don't see the White Sox having a prayer. They just aren't that good of a team.

I guess over on the east coast everyone believes you have to be an offensive powerhouse to be a "good team". We'll see, we play baseball the right way.

BTW, if you didn't notice, they were 8-2 in their final 10 games and totally blew those 2 losses, including a 5 game winning streak. I would hardly say they aren't going into the playoffs hot.

What a relief. I have a feeling it'll be Sox and Angels next week.

There you go again underestimating the power of the Yankees. I think you guys were supposed to be first in the AL east also, weren't you?

Any four of these teams have a chance to win. The Angels have done us in before,

but that doesn't mean we can't beat them this year. And as far as you and the White Sox are concerned -- I believe it can go either way. Contreras is hot -- he's not the same pitcher he was when he was on the Yankees.

It ain't over til it's over -- Yogi was a very wise man.

the White Sox are not a bad team. All of there starters are capable of shut outs, the bullpen is decent and all the players know how to play. That being said they haven't been here in quite a while and they need to start off against the defending World Champions. Not an easy task...I like our chances but they have shown they can put up a fight.

Get off your high horse. Both small-ball and money-ball have worked to win championships. Neither is right nor wrong. Your team believes in sacraficing outs in order to get a small lead and having the pitching and defense hold that lead. Our team believes in cherishing outs as a sacred commodity in order to produce big innings, putting enormous pressure on the opposing teams lineup. This should be a classic matchup of opposing philosophies.

I don't think many teams in the playoffs get there playing baseball the wrong way. The Royals play the wrong way.

The White Sox have 4 more wins than the rest of the playoff teams in the AL, that's all.

him of course the one stolen base everybody will remember

I dont wanna talk about it :(

lol

I found an interesting number yesterday that I wanted to post on here but was unable to get on talksox for some reason. We were talking about how bad/good the Sox were playing as of late (im pretty sure it was this thread) but dyk that The White Sox, since August 1st have the same record as the Colorado Rockies (30-28) argueably one of the 5 worst teams in the league.

Cleveland played way over their heads the last two months and finally came back down to earth. It was bound to happen...they're good, but they're not as good as they were playing. Very streaky team...how come no one believes in the White Sox? We did put up the best record in the AL...

but you also shared a record with the Colorado Rockies from August 1st (30-28)

Pretty sad homeboy

Homeboy?

And you started out the season 11-19 with a 200 million dollar payroll. So it's okay to have a tough start and then get hot, but it's not okay to have a tough end to the season? 30-28 >>>>>>> 11-19.

I know the White Sox have great pitching, especially starting, but they only had the best AL record by 4 games. Plus I believe you guys have a slightly weaker division then us. Everyone in the AL East can beat each other where as you guys have KC and DET at the bottom. I would be more than happy to swap TB and BAL for those 2 teams. Then the top three I say is a scratch. NY=CHI (check reg. season records vs. each other), BOS>CLE, and MIN>TOR.
