Jays turn to Towers for rubber match

Toronto (76-78) at New York (90-64), 1:05 p.m. ET

After splitting two games with New York, the Blue Jays will play the Yankees on Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game set. Josh Towers, who has won two of his last three starts, will take the mound for Toronto. In his most recent outing, Towers allowed the Mariners four runs -- one earned - and eight hits in six innings. He picked up the win in Toronto's 6-4 victory. The Yankees will counter with right-hander Chien-Ming Wang, who starts for the fourth time since returning from the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.

Wang's record is 1-1 in three September starts. In his previous outing, he allowed the Orioles seven hits and two runs in eight innings. The Yankees won, 3-2, though Wang didn't factor in the decision.

RS makes the Yankee game thread every day. Is he supposed to wait until someone gets the Sox game thread (usually YS013) done before he does it?
Posted
Well... we dont need a Yankee game thread, as it will just influence more Yankee fans to come to this site, and clog even more threads with Sox vs Yankees banter. I just dont see a need for Yankees game threads.

That's your opinion, which is fine, but I don't see a problem with having Yankee game threads. Without them, discussion about their games will end up in the Sox game thread.

Coming down the stretch with the records so close, people are going to be scoreboard watching. I would prefer that they were 7 games out and of no concern to us, but that is not the case. We have our fate in our own hands, but what they do affects us now. People are going to want to talk about it, especially while it is happening.

Yankee fans will come to this site for one reason; it is a Sox site. Having a game thread, or not, will not deter them from posting.

Really? Whose else could it possibly be?

Funny. But since I counter with my own opinion in the same sentence, I don't think the captain obvious flag needed to be raised.

Keep it up Jays! Sorry, I haven't been watching, how has Wang done overall before this inning when he blew up?

dominating, I wouldnt call it "blowing up". Blowing up is when you dont finish an inning or like Bruce Chen did the other day. In the whole inning he really only made one major mistake which was the pitch to Hinske which was a 2 seam fastball that ran back across the middle of the plate. The rest I would credit the Jays for.

Oh, okay lol, my bad.

And on another note: Doesn't it seem like Cano has been f***ing you guys up lately? The defense, now the baserunning?!?! Sheesh.

That was the worst baserunning i've seen in awhile. I can live with the physical mistakes but its the mental ones that kill me. The mistakes in the field (for the most part) have been physical but that was horrible.

Ump calls A-Rod out on a ball a foot outside. Yankees respond though. Keep it at 1 Wang and we have a shot.

sox pitchers have been getting same attention from umps in this orioles series. basically what happens each seasoin, the umps mostly dont want to give the hot teams an easy go
