I just really wanted to make a thread for him cause he is my favorite player....

This guy has been the only consistant part of the Red Sox pitching staff for the last many years. Other pitchers have come and gone. Always a middle-back end starter I think he is just as valuable in the club house as Jason Varitek. It seems like he always has double digit wins and will be a reliever if asked. How many other teams have a consistant bottom rotation starter who always has that many wins? This guy is the ultimate Boston Red Sox and I really hope he retires with us.

I got October goose bumps watching the game last night when he struck out Adam Kennedy leading to the inevitable Big Papi HR.

Wakefield has been in the past and still is an innings eater. He leads the team in innings by a big margin. Already performing much better than last year's record 12-10 record, this season is now at 15-10, and with 4 more games could finish out with a 19-10 season, and if its holds a better ERA than his in 2004 (4.89). Has also been having his fair share strikeouts at 123, last season in 32 games had 116 total. Who doesnt like this guy? hes an all around charitable guy that loves being a Red Sox, has been here since 1995 and this past April signed an extension of 3 more seasons, something most players dont do anymore is stay with a team from long period of time. Im always confident when he takes the mound to get things done...

Tito must also love him too because there is NO drama with him. Just send him out and he will take care of things. Time for another winning streak.

I was at the game last night and he had a great knuclker going... Wake this year has held the pitching staff together, also he has become more of a complete pitcher, mixing in his curveball and slipping in an occasional fastball. Hope he keeps it up!

They were just talking about Wakefield on Mike and the Mad Dog (a New York sports radio show,) said he was the unsung hero of the Boston Red Sox. I would have to agree; whenever I hear about the Red Sox on ESPN or something, it's always about Ortiz, Ramirez, Schilling etc etc. Meanwhile, here's a guy who could very well have 18 - 19 wins by the end of the season on a team not known for its pitching. Good for him.

Wake always has turned things around for the Sox this season, helped avoid a sweep from the Cubs which started Sox's 7 game winning streak in June which propelled them to first place over the Orioles. another game he helped avoid a sweep was an 8 inning effort against the Twins, striking out a career high 11 batters

He's been pitching well as of late 15-10. He has good stuff and can pitch deep into the games. Besides Clement he's been our best pitch by far.
