Fossum, Rays to meet Yankees

Tampa Bay (57-81) at New York (77-59), 7:05 p.m. ET, Tuesday

Yankee Stadium doesn't seem to have the same effect on Tampa Bay this season as it had in years past. A year ago, the Devil Rays went 0-10 in the Bronx and 4-15 against New York all season. This year, though, the Yankees are the only East rival that Tampa Bay has a winning record against. The Rays are 9-4 against the Bombers -- 4-2 on the road. "I don't know. I wish I had a definitive answer. I'm hoping it continues," said Tampa Bay manager Lou Piniella. "Last year, they had their way with us."

Tampa Bay heads to New York for a three-game series beginning Tuesday on the heels of winning two of the three one-run ballgames from Toronto at the Rogers Centre. The Rays won the finale behind a strong seven-inning performance by left-hander Scott Kazmir. Southpaw Casey Fossum will get the nod for the opener against New York's Randy Johnson. Fossum has gone 5-4 with a 5.59 ERA since the All-Star break. In his last start, the left-hander took the loss after giving up six runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings against Boston on Aug. 31. Johnson has won two in a row. In his last outing, the 6-foot-10 lefty allowed no runs on three hits in seven innings against Seattle.

Chien-Ming Wang has been activated off of the DL.

I wonder how this will effect the rotation (hopefully, bye bye Leiter) or if it even will; Joe and Mel will probably put him in the bullpen for long releif, like they did with Small. Oh well, it's always nice to get a piece of good news like this. :D

I think they will move Wang into the bullpen and see what he has first before throwing him back into the rotation. Gil Patterson (AAA Pitching coach) said his velocity is back but his control is a little off which I can understand after the layoff. The more he pitches the sharper he will be.

Riverside sluggers, where do you find those batting vs pitcher matchups, I like those

And I'm very happy to read Wang off the DL, he was a nice surprise just like Small

And lets see how our"best" pitcher does vs the team were worst agenst
