Help on the Way?

J.P. Ricciardi isn't tipping his hand one way or the other, but here are a few future free agents that might interest the Blue Jays GM next season:

- RHP A.J. Burnett: Has made it very clear he would like to be reunited with Jays pitching coach Brad Arnsberg.

- LHP Jarrod Washburn: According to reports, already is being lured by Jays reliever Scott Schoeneweis.

- 1B/DH Erubiel Durazo: Underwent Tommy John surgery in July but is expected back for beginning of next season. Should come relatively cheap and always has interested Ricciardi.

- 1B/DH Kevin Millar: Solid clubhouse leader in Boston has seen his power dry up this year. Is he worth taking a chance on?

- 1B Carlos Pena: At $2.5 million US this year and arbitration eligible, the Tigers are going to have to make a decision on him. Late surge might keep him in Motown. If he's available he'd be a great fit in Toronto.

Here's our best guess as to whom the Jays will be bringing up in September when the rosters expand:

- OF Gabe Gross

- IF Desi Relaford

- C Ken Huckaby

- RHP Chad Gaudin

- OF John-Ford Griffin

It bothers me that some of you on this board are so eager to get rid of Kevin Millar! He is part of the heart and guts of the team, irrespective of how well he is or isn't hitting this year.....

I would jump on you for saying this, but I think sara and elsrbueno would enjoy it more.

You're right. He's part of the heart and guts ... but not the talent. If he wants to be our "guy with heart" then tell him to retire and become a bench coach.

Good let them have him as long as he isn't playing in Boston. It's not like he'd help Toronto go anywhere. Doesn't matter if he's the heart and guts of the team what we need is someone who can play.
