I must say, the seating format at Fenway is very odd....I dont remember it being this odd last time I was at Fenway in 2000, but then again I dont remember much from that game with the exceptiuon of a bunch of "Save fenway Park" people giving me bumper stiuckers and buttons and stuff and saying "these are the best Yankee fans ever", David Justice's homer over the monster, Alfonso Soriano flying out to left (dont know why, but I can always vividly remember this play), and of coarse Bryce Florie getting hit in the face with a comebacker off the bat of Ryan Thompson

coarse = rough

I think you were looking for 'course'.

vikadin = I don't know, some loud viking noise.

Its Vicodin. Yes, its capitalized because it is a brand name, not the name of the drug itself. What the f*** is going on in the schools in this country?

As a teacher myself I take offense to this. I'm not sure where you go to school, but in my school the teachers are AMAZING, care for the kids like they were their own, and love what they do. Usually the problem stems from home, not a lot of support...therefor the kids cannot succeed.

I'm sorry to hear that your teachers are horrible. I do wonder, though, what constitutes them as "horrible" in your mind.

Hey SoxFOC,

Just want to say that even though I didn't participate in your giveaway it is really an extremely generous and selfless thing to do and think you're quite a great person to be offering all this.

Thanks for being one of the good guys.

Most of them are plain stupid. I had a geometry teacher last year, fresh out of college, who didn't know what she was doing. Most of us had to tell her how to teach us certain things. Most of the teachers i have had since middle school have done nothing but whine about how they don't get paid enough (600 dollars a week is the starting salary for a brand new teacher.). It's not too bad here, but bad enough that i can say that through my first 3 years in high school, i have had maybe 3 teachers who explained things well enough for me to get and have run a good class. My school is also considered the best in the city, which scares me.

I find it hard to believe that someone who graduated from college could be labeled "stupid". Maybe they don't know everything, but stupid is quite a harsh word to use.

Teachers DON'T get paid enough, but this isn't something that your teachers should be complaining about to you. We are definitely underpaid and overworked, and the stress gets to some earlier than others.

If you don't get anything out of a class, you can't put all of the blame on the teacher though. You need to take responsibility for your own learning too! If any person, no matter if they are a teacher or a student or the man on the street corner, says they haven't learned one new thing each day then they haven't tried.

I'll give you the fact that there are some terrible teachers out there who don't do their job the way they should, but I would urge you to take responsibility and actions in your own hand and do something about it. In a Proactive way, not the typical teenage "I don't care about this, I hate school, I'm not going to do jack in this class" way!

Well stated. I might also add that teachers are also often unappreciated.

Even though I support the pro-teacher comments on this thread. I do wish to point that graduating college does not mean you are smart, as well as not going to college doesn't mean your stupid. I have a lot of friends that went to college and I have no problem saying "I'm way smarter than all of them"! Educated does not = smart and smart does not = educated, some people self educate very well.

I completely agree...my point to BigPapiEnFuego was that I found it hard to believe that his teacher was "stupid". I know many people, my father being one of them, who never went to college and who I would easily say are smarter than me (and I am someone who has a 4 year college degree and I'm working towards a master)! I just detest the way young kids throw around the word "stupid" without truly thinking of what it means.

Good points. I just hate the way teachers here and picketing and threatening to leave because they are underpaid and it's stressful. It's pretty stressful on us too. Very stressful. I don't normally throw this out in the open, but it got stressful for me to the point that i nearly dropped out and i was on anti-depressants. That only lasted a short time. But all that matters is that i passed, and hopefully i can graduate this year.

Minor point, but you might want to edit your statement. I don't think anyone in their right mind would picket or threaten to leave for being overpaid.

True, true, true! I agree the art of using words in their correct manner is all, but gone in young people today. I run a teen center and I'm contantly hearing "stupid" s*** like this. I do have to agree with BigPappiEnFego (sp) that teachers picketing is stressful on our young people. I believe that teachers get paid just about what they should. I personally work a 8 hour day without a break as the Director of a Teen Center. I make a lot less than a teacher, but I would never think about picketing because if I wanted to make lots of money I wouldn't work in this field. It was their decision to become a teachers, no one forced them. I do think it would be nice for teachers to have better tuition re-embursment(sp) programs to help with paying back student loans.

Lame crowd up until top of 7th inning and peaked with Pappi's walk-off.

Thank you to SFOC for the tickets, my guest's and me where and are very appreciative!

talksox.com t-shirt didn't work out so well. The red arms of the shirt bleed after washing them and turned the white body of the shirt pink. I put them back in the washer, but they where not ready for the game. If the pink comes out I'll wear them to the next game I go to (when ever that might be).

I would have to disagree with you on this one. First let me say that I LOVE what I do and the only reason I have stayed a teacher for the past 7 years is because of the kids, definitely it's not to be a millionaire. I would never picket either, because the kids are my work force. However teachers make nowhere near what they should. A daycare provider in my area (Central Maine) gets paid $125 per kid with anywhere from 10-15 kids (do the math!)....I would LOVE to get that much per kid in my classroom of 20! And I do WAY more than babysit. A starting teacher in this area gets $25,000-$27,000. That's for a job that is not 9-5, you take the work home with you, get calls from parents at 9:00 at night, stay late for staff meetings, curriculum meetings, graduate courses, etc. Not to mention the almost $300 worth of college bills per month (at least that's what I have for 10 years). It's a good thing that teachers LOVE what they do, who else in their right mind would apply under these conditions?

Now I'm sounding like one of those lunatic teachers, so I'll stop now! It's just not a point I could stay quiet on!
