even with last night's disappoint loss the game still showed the starting pitching has turned around compared to what it was from the all star break to mid-August. In the last 5 games the pitching staff has allowed 14 runs.

Clement in his last 3 games has allowed just 5 earned runs and is beginning to pitch late into games, the 1st half clement is back i think.

Bronson Arroyo in his last 2 starts has allowed 5 runs

Jonathan Papelbon in his first 3 outings with just 4 runs the opposing teams have been able to get.

David Wells just did a scoreless outing

Wakefield is coming back tomorrow and almost always guarantees to keep the Sox's offense in the game, give the bullpen a rest and go late into games.

And Schil is back

riverside has got a point, our pen did well yesterday.

its was our offense, not the bullpen, we left 13 on base and we had the bases loaded 3 innigns in a row and couldnt even get 1 run.

we are hanging on to the top spot at least. we are ok...this isnt the time to go on a streak anyways. the pieces need to come together right now so they can fall into place in september. schilling, foulke, hansen, no more off days for the starters, and the bullpen needs to be set.....then we can make our run and right into the playoffs.

If our pitching does well we will do well. We lsot last night because our offense didn't come through which is a rarity, if the starting pitchers do thier job the offense will do thier job and we should be in a good psoition at the end of the year and going into the post season.

our playoff hopes rest on one guy in the rotation stepping up to become a true ace in the playoffs and right now, I think the closest guy we have to that is David Wells cause especially after tonight so far, it sure as f*** isn't Curt Schilling

No question having an ace would be big at the moment...however...with our lead in the division basically what we need is our 5 starters to keep us in every game. Don't get blown out but give us a chance to score 4-7 runs and get the victory.

...playoffs is a different story...then we need guys to step up and hopefully after this month we will know who it is.

interesting stat I saw in the newspaper. this season the Sox have a 45-10 record when Sox's starting pitchers at least do 7 full innings

DAMN! :o Thats a winning percentage of .818!!! That's video game-esque :D
