It's not only the Yankees who say ridiculous things...

Millar looking at big picture

He's not feeling crunch of low numbers

By Chris Snow, Globe Staff | August 7, 2005

MINNEAPOLIS -- Kevin Millar knows what you're thinking. You're thinking about the home runs, the four that he's hit, the team-high 142 at-bats he's gone without one, the 43 he connected for in the preceding two seasons, and the sudden, precipitous decline. He's just not thinking the same thing. Instead, he's got an analogy.

''It's just like Tom Brady," Millar said last night. ''If you had a fantasy football draft, he'd be your eighth, ninth, 10th quarterback picked. You'd want to take [Daunte] Culpepper, and you'll finish in third place. You want to take [Michael] Vick and Peyton Manning and all these guys.

''I may not hit a home run the rest of this year and we might win the World Series. And I'm a part of this team. Somehow, somewhere, I bring something."

Well thank you KFK. The entire point you wanted to establish was the you bring "something." I love ya man but shut the hell up if you don't have anything to say. We all know about how your great in the clubhouse, and how you make everyone laugh, and your everyones friend, but frankly, I'm getting tired of hearing about it.

There's a huge difference between Brady and KFK. The Pat's can't win without Brady on the field every single weekend. The Sox can definatly win without KFK on the field.

Why don't you retire and become a bench coach if all you think you bring is a smile and a joke?

That's got to be one one the most assine statements he's ever come up with, and that leaves plenty of room. Well stated MC, maybe he should start a Cheer leading squad.

The wierd thing is his OBP isn't that bad. You never think of Millar as a guy who walks much but his OBP is almost over 100 points higher than his average.

I like Kevin, as long as he learns to keep his BIG MOUTH SHUT. Kevin couldn't hold Tom Brady's jock. If you're not producing, then you don't have the right to say s***.

Oh Kevin, your stupidity never ceases to amaze. And now I hear that Fox is interested in him as an analyst if the Sox don't make it to the ALCS. Imagine the broadcast team of Joe Buck, Tim McCarver and Kevin Millar. I would watch that just for comedic purposes.

Tom Brady is actually decent for fantasy. I won my league last year with him as my quarterback. He is steady and threw touchdowns almost every week. It also helped that I had Randy Moss and Terrell Owens (strange mix of player personalities there).

In all my years of fantasy baseball...Kevin Millar has never been picked...but on a professional level:

How do you compare yourself to a god?? shut up Kevin

Comparing yourself to Tom Brady is crossing the line, Kevin. It's like Damon saying that he thinks 75% of the ENTIRE WORLD knows who he is.

All I have to say is wow. Kevin Millar shouldn't be comparing himself to Tom Brady he isn't even in the same class as Tom Brady.

Lets put it this way, when thinking of the Patriots dynasty, Tom Brady is the first person that comes to mind, when thinking of the 2004 Worls Chamion Red Sox Millar is the 10th guy to come to mind.

I think of:

Schilling

Manny

Papi

Ortiz

Damon

Nixon

O-Cab

Tek

Foulke

Mueller

Pedro

Kapler

Lowe

Timlin

Wake

...Millar

He's not even close to the first person I think of.

Hmmmmm

f***. I suck. Well.....:( No need of editing it, thanks to Sizzlin I'll still be embarrassed.

Oh well, I guess I tihnk of him twice as much before I think of Millar again :)

Good ol' Sizzlin, always looking for something to embarrass someone with.

actually Kevin Millar since the All Star Break has been doing good, 24 hits in 78 at bats (a .308 avg) 7 Doubles, 7 RBIs, 10 Runs Scored, 16 Walks, and 14 Ks, with his OBP at .417---Dont forget he wouldve had homerun # 5 if not for Lew Ford of the Twins

whowhooo.. number 5 ...stop the presses.

so he has 7 rbi's and no home runs since the all star break..

he cant hit or field, but he gets laughs in the clubhouse. Not exactly the kind of numbers you want for a big guy like that or from your first baseman.

every time he dives for routine fly balls in the outfield I swear to God he looks like he is falling out of a wheel chair.

Worse case scenario let him play first, I dont understand why you would juggle the line-up to keep kev's whiffleball bat in the line up...kapler any time any day...

shouldnt we talk about who has been struggling at bat for the Sox in 2005, which is Doug Mirabelli, dont get me wrong I like the guy. True hes only had 95 at bats but still his bagting average is a platry .211, with god his OBP is .292. Pales in big comparison to last year in 160 at bats had .281 average with OBP at .368

I wont diginify that comparison with much thought, except to say that biill mueller is among my favorites and kevin millar isnt.

millar isnt worthy enough to be put in the same sentance.

As either mirabelli or mueller.
