You guys have had him for over half a season so far. Are you satisfied with him so far? Does it bother you that there was a lot of speculation that he would rather be in the Bronx. Anything that you guys like/dislike about him so far.

I love him. Cool guy and a consistant pitcher.

you'll really love him come playoff time. Just as long as his back doesnt kill him lije it did in 2003 (game 5)

I've always liked Boomer Wells, he seemed like a real funny guy (getting into fights in SD, and NY) he's a gamer, and always steps it up in the postseason.

he's a cool pitcher. i like him because for me he always looks calm until he steps on the mound and get his angry face. it's a pleasure watchin' him playing ball.

So like how does the Red Sox buffet compare to the Yankees? I guess that's the only thing I want to know.

I think he's the only guy who can say that Mel Stottlemyre is the best pitching coach he's ever had. Didn't he put that in his book? Now, I would then be inclined to think that he just chucks the ball, throws it whatever, because from what I've seen, StottleFIRED is not helping the pitching situation much.

Sorry 26 to 6, I know you're a Stottlemyre sympathist. But the majority of Yankee whiner-fans are not. That would include me!

Anyways, 26 to 6, as Yankee fans, isn't the question we should be pondering, "Yankee Nation's thoughts of Big Unit so far"? This is Red Sox board of course. So fortunately I shall not elaborate.

Because it would not be pretty...

Edit: Or maybe we should go to every team's board and ask how they like the prospects we sold, the FAs that flourished away from NY.

It probably was excellent with Ortiz, Schilling, and Millar already in that clubhouse. Do we have the fattest clubhouse in baseball? It's about to get fatter, when El Guapo arrives.

You have measurements? How about some potpourri?

Well, Schilling's been effective in the closer role. But between the time he's there, and Foulke gets back, if there's any closer instability, it's gonna take awhile for your team to reach the buffet table.

Now, on the other hand, the Yankees might as while stuff their faces watching Al Leiter pitch. Anything to ease the pain. Btw, we do get the food checked and stuff, so yeah, Giambi and Sheffield ain't geting anything different than the rest of the players. Pssh, problem is there is no starting pitcher to get to Mo who would then make a brief bridge over to the food line...

Do the Yankees need any more motivation? ;)

Edit: I guess some teams can afford to be "fat, drunk, and stupid", and still win? And other teams follow the Alex Rodriguez regimen of waking up at the crack of dawn and still struggle. The Red Sox have made this into a craft or what? I'm sure scouting reports aren't full of this.

I love Wells, brilliant control,. He got a bad rep in New York because of the whole clean and shaven Yankee pride ********. He's really not that bad a guy and fits in perfectly in the clubhouse... fat, drunk, and stupid.

Can't complain. Good pitcher that gives his all every time out.

An idiot, and one of the most competitive pitchers in baseball. Not really anything that wasn't known before he came to the team.

"Does it bother you that there was a lot of speculation that he would rather be in the Bronx."

Does it bother you that he's a lot better than Al Leiter?

we still love him here...or at least we did until April 3rd, seeing him in that Boston jersey. He came here expecting the same kind of love he got when he was with the Jays, White Sox, and Padres...what he got was something similar to what he got in Cleveland in '97. But after he takes that jersey off, we'll love him again.

at first, I was like "THIS is who we replaced Pedro with?!" and at the beginning of the year, he was proving s*** all to me but for the last while, he's probably been our most consistent pitcher

it does....i didnt start this to start an arguement, i was just wondering the thoughts on Wells from The Sox fans.

I think Well's has been great. Take away the couple bad starts in the beginning of the season and his ERA would be somewhere around 3. Solid pitcher, gives his all every time he steps on the mound and doesn't take any sh*t from the umps...Lol.

Read his book a couple years ago as well, he's a very cool, down to earth, average joe type of guy which I liked about him. Probably would be the top of my list of any player I'd love to hang out with and have a couple beers.

Honestly, when the Red Sox embraced the "idiot" theme last year, who was the one guy missing? David Wells. He's the one guy who wasn't in Boston who fit that mold above anyone else.

Needless to say, I think he fits in with the clubhouse just fine.

Crespo-- you may be on to something. We may indeed have the fattest clubhouse in baseball.

I like David Wells. Time and time again, this team has desperately needed a win, and he's delivered. He didn't deliver opening day, but holy crap-- first game as a Red Sox, against the Yankees and Randy Johnson... who expected him to win?!?

If you take David Wells for what he is, NOT as a replacement for Pedro but as a solid #2 or #3 starter, he's great. He gives you a lot of innings, doesn't hurt himself with walks, and is a big game pitcher. He's burned the Red Sox a few times in key games, and doesn't have to deal with the same crap he dealt with in New York with the Yankees.

I'm just confident that the Sox have a great chance to win every time he takes the mound. Isn't that all you ask for in a starting pitcher?

Did you know Boomer hates Yankee fans now? We went to the Red Sox D-Rays game last Wednesday, and a Yankee fan wanted an autograph, Wells said "I don't give you guys autographs no more"

I've really liked Boomah so far. He's really doing a great job. I was a little skeptical of picking up a pitcher as old and out of shape as he is ... not to mention a former Yankee, but he's done a bang up job. If he decides to play again next year I wouldn't mind having him on the staff again.

Wells even said he has the great deal of hate towards Reggie Jackson, "Mr. October", himself. Wells met him in the Yankees clubhouse and asked for his autograph, Reggie was just annoyed by him for some reason and said fine give me your damn ball im a busy guy. Wells just reacted "hey reggie" and threw the ball into the nearest trash can, ah yea boomer ;). On Nesn pre-game report, Wells talking about him, "Man I hate that guy so much that you wouldnt believe, a jerk is what he is"

I've heard in other places that Reggie Jackson was an *******. Of course, I can't remember where now...

One thing Boomer isn't-- it's shy about sharing his own opinions. He was the only guy who called out Manny to the public (calling him selfish) and he's expressed the fact that he's not crazy about Joe Torre, either. Boomer is not intimidated by the media, which in Boston, is very important.
