They can't get him for perjury. They have no proof, that he ever took steroids before the hearings.

Yeah, that's why it's a conspiracy. Kinda like the grassy knoll one, or the landing on the Moon never happened. No proof, but speculation.

Does a witness to taking the 'roids count as proof? If Canseco could testify that he took the stuff, plus the fact that he tested positive for the same stuff that Canseco said that e took, would that or would that not be enough proof?

Nope, that would never hold up in a court of law. Even if you had pictures of Rafael Palmerio in a Texas uniform, juicin', it wouldn't hold up either (unless those photos were dated)

Palmeiro requested ceremony be canceled

BALTIMORE -- The Baltimore Orioles canceled a pregame ceremony scheduled for Aug. 14 at Camden Yards to commemorate Rafael Palmeiro's 3,000th hit at the slugger's request, the team said Thursday.

"Through his agent, Rafael has specifically requested that the planned event not be held," Joe Foss, Orioles vice chairman and chief operating officer, said in a statement. "Given the circumstances, the club is in agreement with Rafael's wish to not move forward with the ceremonies."

On Monday, Palmeiro was suspended for 10 days after testing positive for steroids. He has said he took a banned substance unintentionally, but a person with knowledge of baseball's drug-testing program told The Associated Press that Palmeiro tested positive for a powerful steroid not available in nutritional supplements.

Palmeiro will be eligible to return to the lineup on Aug. 11.

I've always liked Raffy, these are the worst of times for an Oriole fan like myself living in Baltimore.

But I cannot regret that he got caught, he was cheating and I would not want to win like that. I hope that the other players who are on some kind of "juice" even now are eventually found out too, whether they are on the Orioles the Red Sox or the Yankees, nobody should be allowed to get away with this any longer.

Maybe for this year. But even if the O's fail to make the playoffs this year, we dominated the AL East for the first third of the season, that bodes well for the future.

Dominated April. That's about it. Welcome to 8 straight losing seasons

Test Roberts and Tejada.

Canseco wrote that he beleived Tejada juiced and Canseco's been proven right about Palmeiro.

Palmeiro requested ceremony be canceled

It was the right thing to do, to cancel the 3000th. And Raffy's agent requested it be cancelled.

Raffy comes back today but I don't think he will start. And the word is that he will likely be booed in Baltimore, at least by a sizeable portion of the fans. This is the last year of his contract and I don't expect it will be renewed.

He should just retire after this year.

There should also be an investigation into whether peter angelos suborned perjury in the Palmeiro testimony. It was clear from Palmeiro's testimony that he was reading from a prepared statement. Given Angleos' fondness for Palmeiro, Angelos' threat to sue Canseco, on Plameiro's behalf, when the book came out and angelos' staunch defense of his cheater, Congress and a Grand Jury needs to look into angelos' involvement. If he knew that Palmeiro lied about steroids, or knew that Palmeiro took steroids, he should be criminally prosecuted. MLB needs to look into whether the franchise ought to be revoked from angelos and his family.

There are serious concerns about his involvement and they ought to be addressed by the authorities.

There was no apology, no mention of the s-word.

Rafael Palmeiro returned from a 10-day suspension Thursday eager to play baseball for the Baltimore Orioles, yet unwilling to discuss the positive test for steroids that tarnished his name, perhaps forever.

"I want to say that I'm happy to be back. I'm anxious to get back on the field and playing the game that I love very much,'' he said. "It's been a tough time for me and my family over the last couple of weeks, and at this time I've been instructed by my attorneys not to comment on the situation. The time will come soon, hopefully, that I can explain my situation.''

Yeah, it definitely was mixed today from what I saw on ESPN. It will last for a little bit but I'm sure it will get better unless he slumps of course.

mixed reception for palmeiro today

O's fans are very forgiving. They cheered Alomar when he spit on the upmire and when he made fun of the umpire's dead child. ( about 1/2 of those who show up in Camden Yards are O's fans, the other half show up to root for the visiting team, hence a mixed reaction. The O's fans cheer for Palmeroida and the other half boo.)

that reception is nothing, wait until palmeiro goes into the baseball fan crazed cities of new york and boston

There are alot of Sox and Yanks fans in Baltimore. More and More every season under the capo regime of don peter

O's fans are notoriously amongh the most peaceful, boring and stupid fans in the game.

The fact is I saw that raffy was greeted with a mixed reception. This deifies my wildest dreams and they guy should be booed and pelted with garbage,.

well, okay just booed, but not cheered under any circumstance.

I would disagree that O's fans are boring and stupid. Yes they are peaceful Camden Yards is too quiiet at times.

But there would be a mixed bag of cheers and boos wherever this occurred. O's fans have been supporting Raffy and hoping for the best for him for years. It is hard to switch gears on an emotional level. I would not have cheered but I would find it hard to boo an Oriole in Camden Yards either, althought I may have done so.

All teams' fans have booed their own, like take the recent games Mike Remlinger played, booed off the field and very deserving. Yankee fans booing Jeter or Arod when they make an error.

I wouldn't find it hard to boo a player on my own team if he was found to have cheated. Especially not a mercenary like Palmeiro. It's not like you owe him any allegiance or anything. Had it been Ripken when he was playing, THAT would have been a conundrum.

yeah yankee fans booed mariano after ha blew his first 2 saves of the year

I'm confuse why were fans cheering for rafael when he came back from his suspension? He is a cheater and a liar. This guy pointed his finger at congress and lied to there face.
