K. Millar vs. J. Payton

I'm not the biggest fan of K. Millar this year. Last year I liked him a lot, but early this season he wasn't making me happy (yapping his jaw too much). It seems to me though that Kevin has played much better since we let go J. Payton (better than J. Payton) and better than Kevin was playing early in the year. Defensively he isn't great and I know J. Payton is probably a better d-player, but the sox are all about bats!

Is that really right? I thought Jay Payton was just ripping it up in Oakland, but over the last 7 days he's only hitting .167 with a .192 OBP. Wow.

Yeah, if you remember, Millar had a great July last year too. Turned out it was his only good month of the year. Don't be surprised if that happens again this year. I still say trade him.

I think our Boston media wanted to make it out to look like Payton was ripping it up in Okland. It just wasn't true. I think he had 1 really good game. I'm going to start a thread to see if others agree, but I believe our media around here has cost us Championships in every sport. Too many players want to leave this town because of the way our media treats them. Most of the guys that do leave because of the way they are treated are babies, but I still get frustrated to hear our media betting up on guys making them want to leave town. It's one thing when you do that to lets say Kevin Millar. He isn't a super star and it wouldn't kill our team if he left, but to attempt to push a guy like Manny out of town with his numbers is just stupid and shelfish of our media!

the media is just doing their job, and the players know the media is aggressive here and yet they still sign for the money. The players are responsible for it all, not the media and not the fans.

They are big overpaid babies, and for the most part egotistical *******s.

Luckily, The redsox have been blessed with guys who are cool--for the most part.

The players who leave here who blame the media are the babies. Tough s***.

If you're nice to people and not a superior overpaid putz you wont have trouble with the media, ask gentlemen like johnny damon, DO, tek, gabe, mirabelli, wake, bronson,trot, billy mueller...

you never hear anything bad about them , now do you.No one is pushing manny anywhere--he doesnt speak to the media, so how can you blame them, they have to interpret his side of things on their own. pedro spoke when he felt like it. Same with Mo..

guess what you treat writers like s*** and they will crucify you, you treat them with respect and it's two way street. It's "shelfish" of players to think they are better because they play ball, and it's selfish too. I love manny and have overlooked this whole thing, I just hope this blows over.

It's not ALL the fans, but the media does whip the stupid ones up - see the typical moron who calls WEEI for example.

 

I heard some guy on there saying he wants Schilling traded. Why?

 

Because Schiling "is a know-it-all."

The truth is it's not all the fans, it's not all the players, and not's all the media.

 

this is boston, and it's been a pressure cooker for a long time. why players think they should be above the scrutiiny is always confusing to me. Schilling speaks his mind, I happen to think he is a selfish ******* (blasphemy I know) but I dont want to be his friend I want him pitching for the sox,but the point is he speaks his mind, and is opinionated, so some one is going to disagree. Big deal. again, this is boston, and it is what is..Most of this stuff is ******** and once we start winning and the race heats up no one will remember any of this..it happens every year.
