oh goodness. well, now we just need to worry about our injured boys :(

You have the nerve to talk about Alex when you poast a child flipping the bird? I don't know what your problem is with Alex but it seems to me that he has a lot of power over you to be able to bring out the hostility he does.

As for tonight's game, I send my prayers out to Clement. Great job Damon!

um, I have a question. what are you talking about?

Ray Chapman was hit by a pitch in the head and died (1920) the only death resulting from injury in major league baseball. I'm assuming the speed of a ball coming off of a swinging bat may be faster than one pitched.

It's amazing that no pitcher has ever been killed from that in major leagues. I think college or maybe high school apitcher died from a come back.

Shut up, IluvmannyRamirez, this thread has nothing to do at all with Alex Rodriguez. What are you talking about.... I give you about 2 more hours before you're banned.

I agree, but lets cut him a break. Maybe he's drunk or something.

Wow, I was scared to death for a second there, JohnnyDug.... I thought you were calling me a moron or something and telling me that he/she never said A-Rod on here. Pshew, I was thinking, "what did I screw up on now"

A couple more thoughts on the game:

- Bill Mueller is about as clutch as they can get

- Manny Ramirez offense is fantastic, but those plays where he doesn't run the ball out to first and nearly costing us because of it can make me mad at times

- Johnny freakin' Damon, what a show

- Jason Varitek definitely proved why he's our captain today

- Manny Delcarmen clearly has what it takes to be a great big league pitcher

- Get well soon, Clement and Nixon :D

- Way to go Red Sox fans in the southeast, continuing to show up and show your support once again. You guys are a big part why this team continues dominating in Tampa

pretty much, yeah, you couldn't have said it better. Mueller has proven one of the best clutch guys in MLB i think. excited about delcarmen for sure. I am also glad Johnny found his groove again. since the end of the hitting streak he's been down but wow, what a way to show up again Johnny! Despite the millions of rumors up in the air I'm glad we are where we are and everything is going good..minus clement and nixon, who we hope get well soon :)

Line-drives are hit almost directly at the pitcher, so yeah, it really is quite surprising - in a good way, that it hasn't happened before, and hopefully they won't happen. Seen quite a few close calls that without instant reflexes could've easily landed the pitcher on the DL.

Yeah, I could easily tell on SC that there were more Red Sox fans than D-Rays fans present. But you guys have the most away attendance in MLB, anyways. Poor Tampa fans. I mean, literally, POOR, to compete in the AL East.

IluvmannyRamirez is a HE? :o

He's still here?

Anyways the way Schilling is working in relief he'll be at 300 wins in no time. Brilliant plan Schill.

Best Red Sox game that I have ever been to in my life. What didn't happen? Glad Matt's alright. Manny Sr. hit the ball well. Manny Jr. had an impressive debut in the 8th. Billy Mill still seems to get more clutch hits than I can count. And the Captain lead the charge. Most Red Sox rally chants were killed by Tampa boos early in the game, but they couldn't silence us in the ninth or tenth. It's kind of unreal to go to an away game and see 60-70% Sox fans. I'll be going again in Sept. for the next series.

ah yeah always in a tampa series, you are bound to see more action, the good/bad come in st petersberg more rather than Fenway for some reason. Tampa though is startin to be a threat even moreso to the AL East, in 2006 what a race it will to be to get to the top of the AL East now with Baltimore, Toronto, and Tampa starting to roll and make it tough for yankees and Sox

I honestly don't think this year is our year. With a healthy rotation, our young arms coming up to improve the 'pen, and the run scoring machine, I think next year we have a better chance to run away with it than this year.

I'm not suggesting that we don't have a chance. I just think our weakest link this year has obviously been our pitching, and it's looking like it will be seriously upgraded from within the system alone, not to mention whatever off-season moves Theo makes.
