It's pretty much been everywhere now; can't find that little Darko sidebar, though. If Larry Brown can't coach a rock into a gem, then it just very might well BE a rock. If Flip Saunders could turn him into something remotely resembling KG - THAT would be a coaching job.

Knicks are capped out, and there's already "distractions" there, so LB would fit right in.

Don't think the Pistons will go as far next year...what's with this Pat Riley taking over SVG's job? Have anything to do with Phil coming back?

(Oh yeah, none of this is a done-deal, but most predict it's what's gonna happen)

Larry Brown took the Clippers to the Playoffs. Any man that can do that deserves a medal.

Olympic gold? ;)

That's about the only thing missing from his resume; only coach to have won a NBA and NCAA championship.

That really is a shame that he did not get a gold medal. It is not really his fault either. He did a good job with the crap players he was given. All of those players that did not go because of "Safety" (they wanted safety of wallet more) should be ashamed of themselves. Same thing with that Baseball World Classic thing and how Sheffield won't play for no pay. It really is a shame that these athletes don't even care about playing for their own country.

Why did he bench LeBron though?

I felt that NBA players were in a Catch-22; win, and it's been to be expected (there'll never be another Dream Team), but lose, and they're accused of being ex-patriots. The players that actually bothered to go obviously were interested in representing their country, but unfortunately it was not a pleasant experience, and I just hope players like Tim Duncan will not be disheartened the next time around.

I can't remember the name of the guy who now heads the U.S. Olympic Basketball operations, but supposedly he's really good. And now that they figure out they can't exactly assemble a team in two months, they're considering inviting college players to the squad, and asking for a committment.

Sheff's being Sheff, but I think the clubs should have somewhat of a say in this. With the BWC, it's supposedly a spring training type of thing, but still, there's a risk of injury, and right or wrong, I can understand maybe some owners not wanting to take that risk. Not to mention international competition can be exhausting; Yao Ming has said that he wants more time off to condition rather than compete in the summer for his country all the time.

Thats Jerry Colangelo, he has good intentions, but a history of making shady trades. (I should know, hes the Suns CEO or something like that, got confused after he got ousted from the D'backs) the Majerle trade, the Barkley trade (this is his sons doing) the Richardson trade (Damn Knicks <_ i hope that one pans out but since hes not super involved with the suns anymore it seems like he can be totally focused on this job does do a good because imo didn here in phoenix why we have sarver now src="//d1mqtyoopj0gsc.cloudfront.net/emoticons/default_biggrin.png" alt=":D"> )

Reports say that Brown has indeed accepted the Knicks head-coaching job. Announcement expected to come today.

Welcome to New York, Larry. Your childhood dream fulfilled. Sorry the Knicks have no cap room. But you'll be polishing up those rocks soon enough.

We don't mind baggage...have plenty of that - you'll fit right in! :D

BTW, the Knicks are reportedly paying him up to $12 mil/year - that would make him the highest paid coach in all of sports.

Bad move by Larry Brown. Look at that cast of characters. His starting back court would rather throw up three's all game than distribute the ball. They traded their best defender and rebounder for Q, a guy that the Suns no longer wanted in part because he couldn't play any D in the playoffs. And for a coach that likes to have one foot out the door like Larry Brown does, this is not a good move, money aside. This team will take time to turn around.

Not a shock to me. I talked to someone I know who has a buddy in Detroit and he said that Joe Dumars wanted Darko to play more, and Joe told Brown that he wanted more minutes for Darko, and of course Brown didn't play him much at all. That, and the fact that Dumars wanted a guy who was committed to the Pistons to coach the team, not a guy who was shopping his services around.

As for the move itself, I think for the Knicks, its good because hes the best available, and if I was Isiah Thomas, I would take him over their old coach anyday,(Quite frankly, I would take him over ALOT of coaches in the L right now) kinda pricy if you ask me but, its New York...since when has any New York franchise had a shortage of money? I think he will help the team improve somewhat, but not as drastic as competing for a championship
